Chapter 357: Miracle Drugs

The moon hung like a cold, silver eye over the battlefield, casting long shadows across the wreckage. High above, Sunny stood suspended in the air, his silhouette a sharp inkblot against the lunar glow. He looked down at the carnage with a deepening frown, his eyes tracing the jagged, violet-black spirit energy leaking from the massive stone creature below.

’What did he use? Is that some kind of forbidden skill?’ He thought, his frown deepening. The energy wasn’t just celestial; it was dense, stagnant, and carried the stench of forced evolution.

Below, Morgana stood at the center of the devastation. She looked less like a warrior and more like a bored spectator at a failing theater production. She idly toyed with a lock of her hair as the eight-meter-tall gargoyle loomed over her, its breath rattling like grinding tectonic plates.

"Oh... I didn’t know you had a trick like this up your sleeve," Morgana drawled, her voice dripping with mock disappointment. "But honestly? It’s a bit kitsch. You can’t find skills like this in the lower world. Tell me, Malcom... who gave a dog like you a forbidden bone?"

Malcom didn’t answer. He couldn’t. His humanity was being swallowed by the stone.

"I thought as much," Morgana purred, her eyes sharpening with a sudden, predatory glint. She beckoned him with a single, taunting finger. "Well? Don’t keep me waiting. Show me if that borrowed power is worth the price."

Josephine stood some distance from her, her senses finally picking up a familiar, overwhelming pressure from above. She raised her head to the sky, her eyes widening as they landed on Sunny.

’How long have he been here?’ She thought in surprise, her heart fluttering between relief and awe.

"GRRAAAA!!!!"

Malcom let out a tectonic roar and lunged forward, leaping into the air with enough force to crack the warehouse foundation.

"This forbidden skill is good. But once you used it, your life force is set. You will die..." Morgana mused aloud. She turned her head slightly toward Melvin, who was trembling some meters away like a leaf in a storm. "Maybe I went too far..."

She raised her head back to Malcom, who was descending like a falling mountain, his jagged stone sword diving towards her head.

"It gives you a huge boost in strength. But you forgot one thing." Her crimson eyes glowed with an ancient, terrifying light. "You will be weak against someone who have mastered their spirit energy."

A sphere of iridescent white light, far more refined than the golden glow of Celestial energy, manifested on her open palm. With one powerful jump, she launched herself upward, a streak of red against the gray stone.

"....?!!"

Before Malcom could think of anything, Morgana appeared in front of him, passing his massive sword by an air-breath.

"You??" Malcom’s voice vibrated with rock-grinding shock.

"Goodbye!!"

BAM!!!

She struck his stone abdomen with her fist wreathed in concentrated spirit energy. The impact didn’t just crack the stone; it vibrated through his very soul. With one powerful surge of force, she applied a pressure that threw him miles away, a projectile of shattered rock.

BOOOOOM!!!!!

Everyone’s gaze followed the gargoyle, who flew miles across the horizon, smashing into the ground continuously. His tail was sheared off by the friction, then his legs, and lastly his arms as he skip-jumped across the wasteland.

BAM!!

After creating a one-hundred-mile trench in the dirt, Malcom finally came to a stop, his stone skin leaking gray ichor, barely breathing.

’Only someone who have mastered his or her spirit energy can defeat him? This is very troublesome.’ Sunny thought, his mind already mapping the threat. Spirit energy required a level of soul-refining that most in this world hadn’t even heard of.

’In the lower world, everyone has celestial energy, how can they defeat this thing that requires spirit energy?’ Sunny moved his gaze upward toward the stars. ’I destroy the restrictions, but I can’t change how the world is created... I don’t have such powers yet.’

Below, the witch caught up to her prey. Malcom slowly raised his head, his stone body pulverized.

"You know... I can easily kill you with one skill, but that’ll be too easy." Morgana said, her boots clicking softly as she walked towards him. "Your Son is a bastard, and you just prove you’re responsible for it... So I will be killing both of you today, and later..." A side of her lips curved upward into a devilish smirk.

"I might wipe out your family line, and the Malcom family will disappear from the Elves’ nation, even your Queen won’t be able to stop me."

She stood in front of the shattered gargoyle and squatted down. "How do you want to die?"

"Graaa!!" Malcom croaked.

"Ok then." She placed her hand on Malcom’s head, and channeled all her spirit energy directly into his brain.

"AHHHHHHHH!!"

The sound was agonizing, a soul-wrenching scream that made the guards’ blood run cold. Everyone felt a chill down their spines, staring at Morgana in horror—all except Sunny, who slowly descended from the sky like a falling leaf.

"Ruthless as always." He muttered, landing lightly beside the stunned Josephine.

"AHHHHHHHHHH!!!" Malcom screamed one last time, and after some seconds, the world went silent.

"Oh..." Morgana looked over her shoulder at Sunny, a bright smile on her face, like a kid who had seen a candy.

"He can’t even hold on." She stood up and walked away with a skip in her step.

The guards, Josephine, and Sunny stared at the hole in Malcom’s skull. It was horrifying—the skull was a perfect, polished bowl. The entire brain was gone, erased from existence.

Sunny snapped out of his shock and walked towards the shivering Melvin. "If you want to live, tell us who gave your brother such a forbidden skill... And don’t dare say it’s from your family."

Melvin raised his head, his eyes unfocused. "That... It is a drug." He stammered. "Two weeks ago, someone held a secret auction in the Star nation... Almost all the powerful nobles went, especially those who hate God wolf, or wants him dead..."

He swallowed hard. "We don’t know his face, but he gave each one of us these drugs. He called them miracle drugs, and once taken, they’ll turn the person into random beasts, which will give them great powers beyond their current strength."

"The strength gained is determined by your initial rank," Melvin revealed.

"Initial rank. That means, if a god rank warrior takes this drug, they might become a first or second order powerhouse." Josephine muttered, her mind racing with the tactical implications.

"Yes... If a Divine rank warrior takes it, he will have the strength of a god rank warrior..." Melvin whispered, hugging his legs. "This person gave each family five pieces of the drugs... But Malcom... Malcom took more than one."

"Who is this person, the one who gave you guys these drugs?" Sunny asked.

"We... We don’t know. He was wearing a mask."

"This will be troublesome." Sunny ran a hand through his hair. "Ok, who are these families who attended the auction?"

"I don’t know all the families... but I know the ones in the elves’ nation." A shakily brought out a ring, and gave it to Sunny.

"They are all in there."

"Anyone in Eldoria?" Josephine asked, her question stunning Sunny and Morgana.

Melvin thought for a moment and slowly nodded his head.

"Huh?"

"...!!"

The revelation hit like a physical blow. "Which family," Josephine asked, her voice dropping to a sub-zero temperature.

"I... I don’t know the name of the family, but they’re Beastify race... They... They also have Eldoria’s insignia." Melvin stammered. "When the leader saw them, he was so happy, like he knew them from the very beginning."

Josephine was trembling in anger. Sunny sighed, trying to keep her grounded. "Ok, at least you’ll know their beasts, tell us the clan."

"Clan... Umm... They have snake eyes. Terrifying eyes."

"Where is this auction located?" Morgana asked.

"Star nation, that’s all we know... We were blindfolded."

"Ok... This is more that enough." Sunny placed his hand on Josephine’s shoulder. "Let’s go..."

He turned to the witch. "Morgana. He is all yours."

With a swirl of spirit energy, Sunny vanished with Josephine. Morgana turned back to the horrified Melvin with a bright, predatory smile. "Yes... What did I say before."

"But... But you said you will let me go?"

"What a cute boy. You actually believed that... Don’t worry, it won’t be painful, I just want to see what is in your memories."

[Elves’ Nation — Evergreen Hotel]

Sunny stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, the glowing lights of the Elven capital reflecting in his eyes. He exhaled softly, the weight of a king on his shoulders. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Josephine walked towards him and hugged him from behind. "What happened?"

"Even with everything I have done... There are still some people who still want me dead." He said with a faint, cold smile.

"You aren’t angry?" Josephine asked.

"Why should I? No matter how good you are, they will be those who want to see you fall... That is how the world is. All you have to do is stay strong and withstand their sneak attacks." He stared at the distant castle.

"Do you think we should take over this city and add it to Eldoria’s Territory?"

"That won’t be a bad thing... But. If we declare war, Victoria will instantly request aid from the star nation. Yes... We can take them both on, but..."

"No but... After your birthday, you should just sit back and watch the show." He smiled.

’If we take over this nation, it’ll be a lot easier to locate these families... One of them must know the mastermind behind this.’
