Chapter 412: The Ghosts

[Supreme World — The Capital of Eldoria]

SCREECH!

A cry pierced the high-altitude winds. A white eagle, constructed of divine alloys and primordial energy, flew through the air with terrifying speed. Ahead of it, the fabric of space distorted, and a gateway appeared before it, swirling with blue energy.

BOOOOM!

The eagle entered the portal, the sonic boom echoing in the void, and burst out from another gateway instantly. It was now flying above the land, heading towards a sprawling metropolis surrounded by immense, impenetrable walls.

It flew above the Golden Gate, the massive entrance to the city, and soared over the beautiful architecture below—towers of crystal and streets paved with white stone. Its destination was the Silver Castle at the far end of the city, resting majestically on a small hill that overlooked the empire.

WHOOSH!

Figures in black stood on special surveillance towers placed all over the city. These were the elite Shadow Guards. They tracked the object, but upon recognizing the energy signature, they stood down, staring at the white eagle as it passed.

It flew towards the castle, bypassing the magical wards of the castle wall, heading to the tallest balcony—the private sanctum of the Queen.

WHOOSH!!

It slowed rapidly, banking sharply to land on the delicate, outstretched hand of the figure standing there. Two green eyes stared at the construct, reading the data stored within its core.

"So they finally took down the Black Eye Bandits." She said, the wind carrying her voice.

As if its mission was complete, the eagle tilted its head. It shattered into small particles of nanometals, dissolving into a stream of silver dust that entered her body, merging with her bloodline.

"Spying again, Love?"

The woman smiled, lowering her hand as the silver dust vanished.

"It’s not called spying when the one you are spying knows." She said. She looked over her shoulder, a bright smile on her face.

Sunny stepped out from the shadows of the room into the moonlight of the balcony. He wrapped his arms around her waist and hugged her from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder.

"How are the kids?" He asked softly.

"Growing... And thanks to you and Jinx, heartless." Josephine answered with a smile that held both pride and a mother’s resignation.

Sunny inhaled the scent of her silver hair, closing his eyes. "You can’t blame us, besides... They carry your heart, those three might be ruthless, but they will never hurt the innocent."

"Yes... What about, Moon?" Josephine asked about their last child, the youngest who had not joined the mission.

"Moon is already asleep, she can’t wait to see her siblings." Sunny answered, raising his head to look at the massive moon hanging in the sky.

"She is like the moon, bringing light to our lives in time to darkness." He added.

"Yes." Josephine exhaled, relaxing into his embrace, letting his warmth seep into her.

"What about the Beasts?" She asked, her gaze also fixed on the moon.

"I’ve already merged ten of them with me. Remaining one." He said, his voice dropping an octave, becoming serious.

"Are you sure they’re ready?" Josephine asked, a little worried.

Sunny exhaled, feeling the weight of the decision. "Ellen is the one given that job. And with what you just saw, what do you think?" He asked.

Josephine was silent, lost in thought. Sending her kids to such a dangerous mission didn’t sit well with her. It was a mission she couldn’t keep watch on, and not only that, it wasn’t in this realm. It was far beyond her reach.

"Don’t worry." Sunny tightened his arms around her, sensing her anxiety. "I won’t be there with them, but Jinx will follow them on this mission... I would have said Star, but you know, she has her own family to take care of." Sunny said.

"Yeah. I understand..." Josephine nodded her head. She turned around in his arms to face him.

"Do you really need these beasts? You already have ten." She asked, looking deep into his golden eyes.

"Yes." Sunny nodded grimly. "The Master those gods are trying their best to resurrect isn’t my match, but the other... If the Commandments used the beast spirits, she will be invincible... That is why I must have them all." He explained.

Josephine nodded, understanding the stakes. It wasn’t just about power; it was about preventing an apocalypse. She rested her ear on his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heart, taking in his scent.

"Ok."

"There is only one problem." Sunny said, staring at the clouds slowly covering the moon.

"I don’t know where the eleventh beast is hiding in that realm." He said.

"You don’t?" Josephine looked up at him in surprise.

"Yes... You know, that Realm Ruler sealed his realm away. I can only view into it for some seconds." He sighed, frustrated by the limitation. "If I can enter that realm, I will easily locate that Beast."

"That is why you’re sending the kids."

"Yes. They will have a lot of things to do ahead... But I trust them, no matter what happens, I believe they will get that beast and bring it back to me. Not to mention Jinx will be tagging along."

"Yes. Do you know everything about that realm?"

"Lol, my five years exploring isn’t a waste." Sunny smiled confidently. He leaned down and planted a kiss on her lips, lingering for a moment before he effortlessly picked her up in his arms.

"What are you doing?" Josephine asked with a smile, wrapping her arms around his neck.

"Taking you to bed... I need to cool you down." He smirked.

"Fufufu, the last time you cool me down was when I entered the Heaven class." Josephine said with a coy smile.

"Yes, as a Saint Class now. You still need it." He added, walking back into the room.

[A Different Realm — The Sealed World]

[Unknown Location]

The night was pitch black, devoid of stars. In a city plunged into a blackout, the only source of illumination came from the roaring fire above it.

A man, dressed in a sleek black outfit and a billowing cloak, stood atop the head of a huge, flaming red dragon hovering in the sky. His arms were crossed on his chest, his gaze fixed on the people below with absolute indifference.

"Who is that?" Someone on the ground asked in shock, shielding their eyes from the glare of the beast.

"That summon? That is a Legendary Class Summon." Another yelled in disbelief, his voice cracking.

"Legendary Class?! It’s super rare having one! Where did he get it?!"

"I haven’t seen such a summoner before."

"He is so powerful? I can feel his mana from here!"

The people muttered amongst themselves, staring at the figure in the sky, his face concealed in the shadows of his cloak. They were paralyzed by the sheer majesty of the creature, unaware of their impending doom.

"Useless people." He muttered. His voice was magically amplified, reverberating all over the city, drawing all eyes and heads into the sky.

"I am known as the Executioner..." He continued, his voice cold and devoid of empathy.

"Once I am sent on a mission, I never fail." He raised his hand into the night sky, commanding the mana in the air.

"I am only tasked with Annihilating cities, and I have killed countless people that I have lost count of them." He muttered.

The reality of his words sank in.

"What?! He is an enemy?!!"

"No!! Where are the police!! I am not ready to die!!"

"Help!!"

Instantly, panic fell all over the place. The awe turned to terror as people began running around, trampling one another in a desperate bid for safety that didn’t exist.

The figure raised his head, his glowing red eyes fixed on the chaos below.

"Completely Pathetic."

He clenched his fist.

"Flaming Dragon! Annihilation Fireballs!!" He yelled.

GRAAAAAA!!

The dragon let out a roar that shook the foundations of the buildings. The next moment, the space above the sky tore open. One hundred dragon maws appeared from the rift, glowing with molten energy, and released a barrage of massive fireballs at once.

"Ahhhh!!"

"Nooo!!!"

The guy stood, his arms folded again, watching impassively as the fireballs smashed into the city. They exploded like tactical nukes, wiping out hundreds of thousands of people in seconds. The screams were silenced by the roar of the flames.

_

[Five minutes Later.]

He landed outside the burning city border, the heat washing over him without effect. He started walking away.

Behind him, the massive dragon dissolved. It shattered into light and flew towards him, coalescing and forming a Golden Card with the intricate image of the dragon on both sides.

"Tenth City, Destroyed." He said, as the card vanished from his hand into his storage.

"Next, the eleventh city." He said, not bothered by the millions of lives burning behind him.

_

[One hour Later.]

BAM!

Ten figures landed heavily on the ground, right in front of the city, which was still burning, the smoke choking the night air.

The blonde lady standing before them clenched her fists until her knuckles turned white. She trembled, her blue eyes reflecting the inferno.

"Damn it!!!" She yelled, dropping to her knees, staring at the inferno.

"We are late, again!" She muttered with gritted teeth, as hot tears rolled down her face, mixing with the ash in the air.

The nine behind her remained silent, but their expressions were filled with a terrifying killing intent. They gripped their weapons and cards, their knuckles pale.

"The Ghosts just kept on wiping our cities. We must locate them! Fast!"

She stood up abruptly, wiping her tears. She flicked her wrist, and a Purple Card appeared in her hand. It shattered into mana, and a purple dog with two horns appeared, sniffing the air.

"Sniff out any survivors." She ordered.

The dog nodded, barking once, and shot into the burning city. The nine behind her quickly followed behind it, hoping to save even one life.

The lady raised her head to the smoke-filled night sky.

"When will this come to an end?" She asked the silence.
