Chapter 381: Chapter 381 - The Eventful Dinner
Since Dimitri is back in his room, I decided to help Arthur a bit in the meal preparation ƒree𝑤ebnσvel-com
Once I felt that Aurum and his gang is approaching the villa though, I hurriedly hid inside my room to hide, making sure that both Dimitri’s and my presence have been concealed.
Not even a minute has passed, when Aurum pushed open the main door and entered the villa. He was looking around like he has that intuition that something changed in the house. He is quite sharp, isn’t he?
Another sharp individual, Yren, suddenly spoke, "I can smell our wife somewhere. Is she back?" He asked the question to no one in particular.
Seeing that nobody is responding, Yren went into the kitchen to find Arthur and ask him directly, "Hey, Arthur. Are Luna and Dimitri back?" As for Arthur, he continued chopping ingredients as he nonchalantly answered without even looking at Yren, "I don’t know."
Helios scolded Yren slightly as he said, "Even if she is here, do you think Arthur will tell you? His loyalty is with Luna. Besides, we will found out eventually since she never misses meals at home."
After what Helios said, everybody went on and do their thing while waiting for dinner. Each person went into their own rooms to freshen up and change into more comfortable clothing for home use.
After about an hour, Arthur started knocking on doors to call everyone for dinner. The first one to come out was Aurum as he sat on his assigned seat. He was then followed one by one by Helios, Xenos, Calyx and Yren.
Since everybody has already gathered up at the dining table, it was my turn to come out and fetch my pregnant prince from his room since it seemed like he doesn’t have a plan to come out if I do not invite him to eat dinner. I leisurely went out of the room without greeting the others, walked across the expanse of the villa and to the other side where Dimitri’s room was. I knocked softly and went inside to check on him.
What welcomed me as I walked in was Dimitri’s sleeping face and his body sprawled on the bed. I sat on the edge of the bed and tapped his hip to rouse him. After just a few taps, his eyes slowly fluttered and opened as he stared at me blankly. I stole a kiss from his cheek as I told him that it is now time for dinner. He slowly sat up from the bed though he looked reluctant to go out of his room.
After several minutes, we are finally at the dining table as Dimitri scowled for some reason. He whispered to me that he only wants to eat the vegetable soup and the egg bread since everything else is unappetizing and smells stinky for him. I guess the pregnancy symptoms really start early. I remembered the first two husbands were the same too.
In response to what Dimitri said, I simply greeted and smiled at everybody around the dining table. I also stood up to get some soup and a few pieces of bread for Dimitri. The others curiously watched my every move and seemed to be wondering why Dimitri has a scowl on his face.
I placed the soup and bread in front of Dimitri which made his scowl disappear. As for the questioning glances around me, I nonchalantly declared, "He’s starting to get picky with food recently. He only felt like eating soup and bread now. Don’t worry! I will look for things that he likes to eat when I go outside the academe."
My statement earned me a lot of confused gazes. Some gazes, particularly that of Helios’ and Yren’s was of realization. I saw them stare at Dimitri, not on his face but on his body. They then looked at me as if asking for a confirmation.
I smiled at the two individuals that were more quick-witted than the others. The others who are yet to realize the fact, looked at me with even more confusion as I smiled towards the other two who already got it.
Knowing Yren was never the patient one, I heard him click his tongue and declare to the others, "Dimitri is pregnant. Are you all dumb or something?"
The faces of the others around the dining table showed realization. They suddenly all looked at me intensely for some reason. Aurum being the most expressive one, asked directly, "So, when will it be our turn?"
I looked at Aurum and replied honestly, "Soon enough. Have you finished all those pills I gave you? I already told all of you that certain changes need to happen so we can go through that step, right?"
Everyone nodded their heads in understanding. Another question came up though as Calyx asked, "Aren’t you going to spend the night with us again? Was the thing at the palace the first and the last unless we are trying to have a child?"
I looked at Calyx in amusement and tried to tease him, "Oh. You want to spend the night with me?"
Instead of just Calyx answering, everyone seated around the table answered in unison. I was startled with how loud the answer became, a resounding "Yes" with seven votes. Even more surprising was that Arthur joined this funny chorus of answers then he choked with his own words and turned red in embarassment. Everyone else turned to him and gave him a knowing look and a naughty smirk.
Arthur tried to save the situation by hurrying back to the kitchen to bring out more food on the dining table. What used to take several minutes, was finished in two, as he told everyone that it was time to eat. Everybody focused on their meals with their heads down after that and nobody started any chatter whatsoever.
After the meal, Xenos ran back inside his room excitedly then came back out real quick. On his hands were a small box, a piece of paper and a pen. Is this the thing that I was thinking about earlier?
Xenos patiently waited as Arthur and I, cleared up the table from the finished meal plates. Afterwards, he placed the items in his hands on the table. He then looked at me excitedly and explained that we will be doing a "pick a paper from the box". It was a long, appropriate and very detailed name I guess though we only call it "Draw Lots" back on earth.
I told them the earth name of it then took the paper and pen from the table. I started folding the paper to eight equal parts then I tore the paper carefully with magic. The other men watched me carefully as I was doing everything. Helios couldn’t help but ask, "Why are there eight pieces of paper when there are only six of us?"
I looked up at him and smiled. I answered in a mysterious way, "Calm down. You will eventually know why there are eight pieces later."
Helios rolled his eyes at my attempt to stay mysterious. Since the paper has been divided, I started writing names on each. There was one for Dimitri, Aurum, Helios, Calyx, Xenos and Yren. To respect his wishes, I also wrote Arthur’s name, much to the surprise of the person himself and everybody around him. He looked at me with widened eyes like wordlessly asking me if I was serious about it.
I looked at him and nodded. Seven pieces have been used up and on the eighth piece, I wrote "None". I looked at Helios and showed him the paper as I heard him click his tongue. He then suggested, "Instead of none, why don’t you just write "Free Pick" wherein you call the shots as to where you will be staying?"
I smiled at him in amusement and answered, "You all know that if I was given a free pick, I would choose to accompany the pregnant ones specifically Dimitri or Kayden, you
know? I decided to just sleep alone if I get to pick that piece of paper. Can’t I atleast do that?" I pouted at everybody for added effect.
I heard Dimitri chuckle a bit as he said, "If you are not allowed to sleep alone. You can just sleep in my room then let’s just hug each other to sleep." I looked at the guy and smiled sweetly at him.
Before the situation got any more cheesier, I heard Arthur’s soft voice interrupt the scene. He asked carefully, "I would just like to ask if I am really included in the... Umm... Draw Lots? I am not yet... You know what I mean."
I looked at Arthur and replied, "You were one of the people who shouted "Yes" earlier, right? That means you are included in the participants then." I chuckled a bit at the frustration showing on the other men’s faces except for Dimitri that just looked very amused at the situation.
I understand where their frustration came from though. Adding two more pieces of paper in the box means that the chances of someone getting picked decreases too. It is their idea to have a draw lots though so I am free to add in my own ideas, right?
