Chapter 645: Chapter 645 - Arriving at the Astrantia Dukedom (Part 2)

All the maids and butlers were ushered out of the room with Caius’ cold glare. After all of them left, I found myself seated next to my fiancé while his parents, who looked a bit pale was seated across from us holding hands with each other as if facing a scary enemy. Though he looked pissed about everything, he did not let of go of my hand.

My mother-in-law coughed to break the tension and asked Caius, "You left early yesterday and did not return last night. I thought you will fetch Luna and bring her back here yesterday but you didn’t. Where did you even go?"

Caius’s eyes widened and he stayed quiet. He then slowly turned his head towards me and our eyes met. His nervous eyes turned into a glare as if telling me, "You explain this!" I chuckled in response at him and I saw him bite his lower lip due to distress.

I looked back towards my soon-to-be in-laws and smiled at them. I plan to respond to the question in behalf of my man. I answered, "He did fetch me but I originally planned to stay in Qazhad last night then go here the next morning so he decided to stay the night too and follow my plan."

It was as honest as an answer as it can get without making the man beside me feel awkward. I thought it was enough but as I looked towards Caius again, his face was red in embarrassment.

Damn. I tried to sound as neutral as possible. I said it so matter-of-factly that it felt like it was a small matter but with him being that red in the face, it was shouting to everyone that we did something shady!

My mother gave a knowing smile and replied, "Well, thank you for taking care of my son while you were both in Qazhad. Did you just say that he stayed the night with you perhaps? You mean you shared a room together?"

I just smiled at her questions because the blush on Caius’ face has already reached the tip of his ears and his neck as well. That is enough of an answer, I believe.

True to the fact that my father-in-law does not know how to read the room, I heard him make a side comment, "So that explains the wobbly legs..."

I felt the whole room freeze over as my man looked at his father as if he wanted to kill him with a glare. My mother-in-law covered my father-in-law’s mouth with the palm of her hand to stop my father-in-law from talking anything more. She then reprimanded him with a "Shut up!" through gritted teeth.

It was my turn to keep the peace as I held on to Caius’ cheek to turn his head around so he would be facing me. His eyes widened at the sudden skin contact and then I leaned in before he knew it. I give him a quick peck on the lips. The coldness in the room suddenly dissipated.

Caius ended up snaking his arm around my waist and then burying his face on the crook of my neck to hide his face. I kissed the top of his head again then looked at my in-laws. I gave them a wink and they both gave me a helpless smile that was full of gratitude. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

Just like that, a few maids came back with baked goods and both warm and cold refreshments for the four of us to eat for now before brunch would be served in a bit. My parents-in-law asked me about my trip to Qazhad and I shared the activities I tried there and how I met with Caius at the bar then how he ended up willingly following me to the inn and then in my room.

I felt Caius arms tightened around my waist. It was now as if he was burying his upper body to mine. I can feel his warm breaths on my neck as he opted to stay quiet and hugging me. I then cleared up with my that we did not do it all the way but we indeed play a bit which resulted to the wobbly legs earlier.

I heard the hearty laughter of my in-laws followed by Caius’ grunt which was muffled since he was buried on my neck. Since it will be some time before the food will be ready, we ended up going to the topic of the engagement party and the upcoming wedding.

Since I have already married into both Athanoviya royalty and nobility before, the conversation and planning was much easier. It seems that Caius has already talked about how he wanted everything to be completed. As expected, he hated grand parties and opted for a more private wedding. He also wanted to skip the engagement and just get to it already.

I chuckled a bit as I realized how impatient he was on getting hitched with me. No wonder he even ran out of the territory to find me even if I told him to fetch me the next morning.

This time, Caius spoke through a muffled voice to put in his insights on his own wedding but he stayed glued to me like a koala. He has forgotten any sense of propriety or shame even in front of his parents and the household staff. He did not care even if the two of us have been getting weird looks from the maids, guards and the older butler.

The final plan was to complete the wedding in two days time (my third day here in the Astrantian territory). The next three nights and days after that will be the honeymoon. The arrangements are perfect I must say. Those three days, I can easily turn to a week if I wanted to anyways.

I plan to stay in the Astrantia territory for only 5 days and then another 5 days with the Church of Lumienere to be fair to both parties. As for Keeran, he said that he still had a lot of research work to finish and a ton of things to prepare for so he wants our wedding to happen after I graduate from the academe. He also wants to skip the engagement thing since he said that it was a waste of time.

Clarence was quiet about any arrangements that has been done by the church for him. I guess I will find out what is about to happen once I arrive in their cult- er- church in a few days.
