Chapter 146: Knight training (5)- Cute creatures
Theo left the training hall on Elias’s back, there were perks to being a child in his eyes. If he was tired, there was no shame in asking for this kind of help.
"Young master Theo! I saw you training with Sir Rhys today, you were awesome!" a guard shouted in the corridor, making Theo surprised. frёeweɓηovel_coɱ
"When did you see me, Paul?" Theo asked with a smile.
"Well, my duty went from the other side and the view of the training grounds was clear from there, that’s where I saw you," the guard spoke and then thought for a moment, "I think I heard that the baroness and the baron were also observing your training from the third corridor."
"Really?" Theo was flabbergasted. He felt embarrassed knowing that his parents saw him when he was doing so bad.
"I will go do my duties now, young master. If you need any help with your training in the future, you can call me anytime!" As usual, Paul shouted with so much energy that it made Theo feel energetic too.
Although Elias just frowned the whole time, and when the guard noticed it, he bowed and finally bid farewell.
"You sure are grumpy, Elias. It’s even worse than Clara," Theo spoke with a chuckle, making Elias look up toward his face.
"I am not, young master. That guard was just wasting your precious time," Elias spoke with a snort.
Theo only laughed, and soon, they reached back to his room again.
When Elias opened it and Theo saw what was transpiring inside, he hopped down from Elias’s back and ran inside.
"You glutton! What have you done?!" Theo spoke with a smack on his head.
In the corner of his room, Theo’s lavish closet was all halfway torn up from the bottom.
All the ores inside it were on the ground, with the mantis on one of them eating like its life depended on it. When Theo came inside, it went even faster in eating it.
Theo quickly went and grabbed the mantis gently and kept it on his palm. He looked at it with his angry eyes and didn’t know whether it was working on it or not.
But soon enough, the mantis started gently scraping Theo’s thumb while looking at him.
At first, Theo didn’t see any difference, but when he looked at the mantis again, he frowned in surprise.
All the moss on its body was gone as if it had eaten everything already, and when Theo noticed the bent-up foreleg, he couldn’t help but realize that it wasn’t bent anymore.
"Elias... how long does it take for a beast to heal in these medicine baths?" Theo asked in shock.
"...I am not an expert, young master. But it takes from a week to more depending on the severity of the situation," Elias spoke and got close too in curiosity.
"It’s only been two days..." Theo thought aloud.
His mind went to how the mantis could heal so quickly.
’Was it because of the medicine bath, the moss that it ate, or the ores that it consumed just now? And just how many did it consume?’ Theo felt like he had a headache now.
"Young master... these ores are not cheap... are you always making your beast eat it? And does it have a waste disposal skill?" Elias asked in shock, looking at all the crumbs of ores as if they were the aftermath of eating a lot of cookies.
"No... it was only supposed to nibble on some if it got hungry in my absence. I kept a few on the table too. But I did not realize that it would tear through my closet so easily," Theo spoke with a sigh and felt furious again.
"Now that you are strong, is this how you are going to use your powers? Hah? It seems your training is long overdue, mantis. We could have started right now if I was not so exhausted," Theo spoke.
The mantis grabbed Theo’s thumb with both its forelegs and kept its head on Theo’s thumb.
"Don’t act cute now, it won’t work on me," Theo spoke, but there was already a warm smile on his face as if he was looking at his own kid.
Elias just looked at the interaction with hidden emotions he didn’t want to show on his face. How was that thing acting cute? His gaze fell on the closet one more time and Elias was even more shocked.
The wooden doors of the closet were very thick, but he could see clean cut marks on it as if it was cut very easily.
Elias looked at the mantis in a new light. Nobody could ever imagine such a creature that was as big as a child’s palm to pack so much power.
Theo made his way inside the terrarium room, and Elias went in with him briskly. It was the room he wanted to enter all this time.
When he saw the inside, Elias stopped midway as multiple shivers went through his spine.
There were insects almost in every part of the room. He quickly brisked carefully and walked close to Theo.
"It’s the first time someone entered this room since it was made, Elias. You’re good." Theo moved his elbow up, and Elias tapped it with his in an awkward smile.
Theo went to the terrarium room and first looked for the spider in it. After looking around a few times, he saw it coming toward him with a slightly fast speed.
"I-It’s coming toward us!" Elias spoke as many other shivers went through his spine. A big tarantula was moving so fast toward the open exit, anyone would panic.
"Don’t worry, it is the calmest individual you can find in here, isn’t that right?" Theo stated and brought his hand inside the terrarium.
The spider quickly stopped and went back to its spot again, surprising Theo before it brought back three strands of poison web attached to its behind with it.
"Hahahaaha, how cute! It brought its food with it this time!"
"..." Elias didn’t know what was cute or not anymore, looking at the creepy crawly come toward them with its dead prey.
