Insect Tamer's Ascension-Chapter 434. The instructors, a knight and a what?

"You were supposed to be here when the sun rose, young masters of the Merrick Barony," the butler spoke while looking up, where it could clearly be seen that the sun had risen quite high, meaning at least an hour had passed after sunrise.

"We were having our food," Lucien spoke in a confident voice, making Theo look at him for a second.

Did the guy think saying it confidently would make what he said right?

The butler looked at him and Theo, then noted some things before deciding to move forward.

"The instructors for the gate training have been called. The party that you are going to take with you is also here," the butler spoke as he moved his hand toward the people standing beside Theo’s group.

Theo saw the robed tamers and could tell they were around their 30s or maybe more, but he was sure that there was a huge age gap.

One of the tamers was a woman who had pale skin and beady eyes. The people on the sides, especially the males in that party, kept glancing at her curvaceous body through the robes.

Yet when she saw Theo looking at her in the eyes instead of up and down, she smiled.

"Please introduce yourselves, instructors," the butler spoke, making the three robed tamers come forward.

"My name is Maelora Voss. I am a scholar who has researched the fire affinity. I will be going through the basics of what your goals will be inside the gate," the pale-skinned robed woman said with a plain expression.

Theo nodded, and so did Lucien. He looked at the group of individuals on the side and realized that they were also listening to the information as if it was new for them too.

The robed man on her side continued forward after her.

"My name is Corvan Hale," he spoke in a deep voice and continued, "I am a scholar of the water affinity. I will be going through what you will need to do to survive in the gate." He spoke and closed his eyes.

The next one spoke right away. There was a grin on his face which was unlike the other two.

"Nice to meet you! My name is Oric Seldane. I am the youngest scholar of the earth affinity, and I will be teaching you what you need to do when you find new beasts, plant life, and other things!" he spoke in a cheerful manner.

Maelora couldn’t help but smile, while Corvan sighed as if Oric was a tape recorder who couldn’t stop mentioning that he was the youngest.

And Theo could see that too. He had a young energy to his face and looked to be in his mid-20s, or at least from what Theo could tell.

He tried to identify them with any of the popular ducal houses but could find nothing, which meant they were most likely lower nobles.

"Nice to meet all of the instructors," Theo spoke with a calm voice and a face that showed confidence. "My name is Theo Merrick. I am the 9th heir of the Merrick Barony. I look forward to learning a lot from this training." He spoke, making all the robed ones look at him and nod.

There was a slight prejudice on the older one, Corvan’s face, while Maelora only nodded, and Oric showed a hand sign that said ’Great!’ without saying anything.

"My name is Lucien Merrick, the 2nd heir to the Merrick Barony and also Theo’s older brother," he spoke and kept a hand on Theo’s shoulder, making him grin.

They could see the bond between the two, and for now, it all looked like they were on great terms with each other.

When they both were done, the instructors looked at the ones behind them, making the attendants feel like they were being asked to introduce themselves too.

The instructors raised their hands slightly as if checking their status. And as they were looking at the attendants, it was obvious that they were evaluating them on their own.

"Please introduce yourselves," the head butler spoke, making Clara’s attendant instincts kick in.

"My name is Clara Olsen. I am an attendant of the 9th heir, Theo Merrick of the Merrick Barony," she spoke, making them nod.

"My name is Elias Veyne. I am an attendant of the 9th heir, Theo Merrick of the Merrick Barony," Elias spoke right away, leaving Cassian, who remained serious.

"My name is Cassian Delmar. I am an attendant of the 2nd heir, Lucien Merrick of the Merrick Barony," he spoke.

When everything was done and Theo’s whole group was introduced, the head butler turned his face toward the party that was supposed to join Theo.

Theo looked at them closely and waited for their introduction. They were the ones he wanted to know the most.

There were very different individuals in the group, and the first one spoke up.

He was the only one who was not wearing leather armor.

"My name is Kaelon Dor. I am a level 12 Knight of House Varreck. I have been invited here to be part of the investigation of a gate under the leadership of Young Master Theo Merrick, the 9th heir of the Merrick Barony," the man spoke, making Theo nod. Theo could already see a sword on his waist.

It was the second time he had seen someone holding a sword in the royal capital, making him realize it wasn’t that rare of a thing.

Theo felt a slight pressure settle on his shoulders when he looked at the knight. Not because of his presence, but because of how he emphasized Theo as the ’leader’. The responsibility felt a lot more real now.

But at the same time, Theo could feel some strange atmosphere around the knight. It was as if he was looking at Theo with a gaze that felt superior.

’So this is the real world, huh?’ Theo smiled back at the knight, making him nod.

The next one came forward, and she was the one Theo felt the most curious about.

She was wearing what looked like leather armor, but it was fully white in color.

"My name is Lysara Venth. I have the healer affinity and have been invited as the healer who is to work under the command of Young Master Theo Merrick," she spoke, making everyone look at her again.

But instead of that, Lucien was looking at Theo, whose name had been mentioned as the leader for the second time now.
