"Let's start with your stance,"

In the training area, Clara spoke while she showed Theo her stance.

With her feet shoulder-width apart, she explained, "It's all about balance; if your body isn't aligned, your throw will always be off."

Theo adjusted his posture at the same time as she spoke, taking notes in his mind while also trying to do everything as similar as her.

When he was done, Clara stepped back and looked at him from up and down before nodding, "Good, now let's focus on that grip. Please, hold the dagger like this, young master."

She demonstrated it after coming in front of Theo and then gave the same dagger in his hands.

"Wrap your fingers firmly around the hilt, but not too tightly," she instructed, and Theo nodded, mimicking her.

He felt the cold grip on his palm and readied himself to throw it toward the wooden target in the front. The distance did not seem too far and felt right.

"Don't rush," Clara spoke again and continued, "Take a deep breath, steady your aim and only then release your aim when you're ready."

Theo gave a brief and did all the things she said.

He narrowed his eyes and focused on his target. With a swift motion, he threw the dagger, just as Clara had taught him.

It spun through the air and missed the target entirely, but was steady enough to dig itself into the ground nearby.

Theo frowned, yet Clara had a different opinion, "Not bad for the first try, young master. Your stance was good, now all you need is practice until you can start hitting the target every time."

"Got it,"

Theo's hands pained a little with the grip of the dagger the second time, yet he persevered through it.

Another dagger went flying toward the target and missed entirely. Clara gave him pointers about what went wrong and where to improve right away.

Theo understood the concepts right away, and now, only the execution was left.

He kept throwing daggers every few minutes while training heavily on the stance.

After around ten throws, one hit the target again and latched on to it for the first time.

It was a happy moment for Theo and it made Clara want to tell him more basics.

Yet she refrained until most of the daggers hit the target.

Time passed quickly, and it was finally time for Theo to go back and sleep, his hands were sore from gripping the hilts of the daggers tight, yet he was happy that he didn't let a thing as simple as pain to stop the progress.

That night, Theo slept like a log and didn't wake up even after Clara tried multiple time.

Yet in the end, she stopped and let him sleep. It was also the first day Clara gave the mantis food on her own.

While the mantis was an insect that she didn't like from the bottom of her heart, she still couldn't leave the fact that if the mantis hadn't used its skill, the outcome of the battle would have been different altogether.

She felt somewhat indebted and tried becoming close to the mantis, just like how Theo was close to the Boar and the pup.

Time passed, and Theo finally woke up from his sleep.

"Yawn~,"

After stretching his body, he looked around and found Clara cleaning the room with a broom.

"Good Morning, Clara." Theo spoke with a mild smile.

Yet his face winced in pain when he tightened his grip a little, the bruises and the bones still hurt if not lesser than before.

"Good morning, young master! You were sleeping so peacefully that I didn't dare wake you up at the usual time, my apologies."

"There's no worry about that, I usually wake to feed the glutton at that timing." Theo muttered with another yawn and looked around.

"Speaking of it, where is the glutton anyway?"

He looked around again only for Clara to point at the place right beside his bed.

Theo crouched and looked down, only to see the mantis eating a piece of raw flesh with the same vigor as usual.

"Just where do you keep all this food in such a small body anyway?" Theo asked jokingly, before getting up.

While the mantis ate, Theo bathed and freshened before having a simple breakfast this time.

He again made Clara eat with him, and they discussed the dagger training in the meantime.

"Before I fix any routine today, I first need to speak with father about what happened," Theo said while taking another bite of the egg before gulping it down completely.

Yet Clara poke up with news, "I just heard about the Baron in the morning, young master. He is not in the castle at the moment because of the war going on with the neighboring kingdom."

"Oh? Is it Nytharim again?" Theo asked with curiosity and got a nod.

"Yes, and the Baron is in the heart of the war this time again. It might take him some time before returning this time, young master." Clara spoke.

"I give it a week, he will be back in that time being."

Theo was quite confident in his father's skills. After Lucien had told him the gist of things, his father being a Baron was the one thing that didn't make sense for him anymore, even when he was so barbaric.

"Is the war still about the same thing?"

Clara paused before speaking with a sigh, "Unfortunately, yes. The mine in the northern mountains are too big of an asset for our kingdom to just leave in their hands, young master."

Theo nodded, the mines in the northern mountains where both his kingdom, Elaria's and Nytharim's borders met.

The mine was supposedly the most precious to be discovered in the past few years too, having a lot of precious metals that both the kingdoms, much less all the kingdoms, would like to get their hands on.

"Well, this will be settled without trouble again, although securing the mines during this war is a separate issue." Theo stated and Clara just kept looking at him with a proud smile.

"What?"

"Nothing, sometimes I wonder where all this knowledge and intelligence comes from,"

"Hm, I wonder the same,"
