Insect Tamer's Ascension-Chapter 81: Is leaving the only option?
The whole day forward, Theo trained the abilities of the mantis just like his brother told him. It was mostly the 'metallic strike' as it was efficient while training and also the main attacking ability.
He fed the mantis for the day and still saw no change, yet it was expected; the 10 days were still not over.
The skill progressed quite well, and while he was doing so, Theo told Clara what happened in the room.
She was quite surprised by the situation but also happy. In the end, getting help from a level 7 tamer who also learned from the best in the academy was the best option.
When the day was at the end, the skill of the mantis had increased another 12%, which didn't seem to be a lot, yet Theo was on his way to improving the mantis's main skill to level 2. Which, by Clara's standards, was quite good for a person his age.
Night had already come, and the day had been fruitful. Theo was tucked into bed, and when Clara was just going to leave for the day, Theo realized something.
"Clara, wait."
She was already at the door but halted to look at Theo with curiosity.
"Do you need something, young master?" She asked.
"I just thought of something… how far off do you think you are in strength from being accepted to enter the gate, Clara?" Theo asked.
She was the person he spent most of his time with, and Theo felt like if she also got the chance with him, it would be great for growth.
Clara was surprised to hear that, yet a pained expression formed on her face.
She came back toward Theo's bed and sat at the edge, smiling a bittersweet smile.
"Young master… It will be impossible for me to go with you… That is something that is a common fact." She said with a sad face.
"Huh?" Theo frowned. He expected some surprise and then some motivation from her side to become the best with him.
"Always remember, young master. You're meant to soar in the sky; nothing can stop that." She continued with a smile. "There will be many people that come into your life, but not always will they be able to keep up with you. Just like me." She said almost instantly.
It was so sudden, yet Theo's face was etched with many emotions: surprise, confusion, and mostly, anger.
"When you reach level 5 and breakthrough… that will be the day I would become unable to be your attendant, young master." She spoke.
"Wh… Why are you saying this, Clara? If I reach level 5, it will be the same as you."
"… The baron doesn't need same, young master. I have to be better than you to protect you, not equal." Clara spoke almost instantly. "And, I always knew you were special, young master. And that our time together could be lesser than the usual period, but that made me proud."
Theo was at a loss for words. The conversation that he had considered normal had made him realize some bitter things.
'It makes sense; she won't qualify as my protector anymore…' Theo thought.

"I will always be there for you, even if I have to become your maid in the future. But you have to understand that there are things that only you will do in life, young master." She said and took Theo's hand in her palm. "And I couldn't be happier."
Theo stared at her for a long time, and Clara didn't say anything either. After a little while, she got up, said her farewell for the day, and left the room, leaving Theo on his own.
When Clara closed the door, she looked at it with pain in her eyes, before she started moving again.
Theo stared at the ceiling without blinking much.
'Just when I thought I got such a big opportunity… something sad comes up almost together. It's like… there is always a sacrifice for something, no matter what it is…'
Theo felt pain in his heart, yet on the other hand, he knew that not a single thing Clara spoke was wrong.
It was not like he could slow down his training to reach level 5 just to be with Clara for a little while longer, he was not willing to do that. Theo thought about it a lot, and there was no way out of this situation without any losses.
Until a small realization came to mind.
'But… what if she becomes strong too? My synergy with her is so great… why would I just let it go? Brother Lucien said his attendant was with him for a long time; what if he found a way? I will have to ask him…'
Like usual, Theo's positive outlook, just like a Merrick, kicked in, and he tried thinking of ways to keep her with him.
'That's it…' Soon, realization hit, and Theo smiled wide.
His eyes finally closed with satisfaction, and in a few minutes, he was already asleep.
The next day, Theo didn't do anything but train the skill of the mantis for the whole day. It was the first day of the week before he would train with Lucien.
With the mantis's training, Theo had also started his own personal training too.
From running around the training track in the morning to other exercises, Theo delved into everything basic to start making a foundation.
Clara helped him with stretches and knife-throwing skills.
Theo still wasn't ready to show others his physical skills, so he trained in the area that the guards and the knights didn't use.
The training wore him out more than being in the forest, yet that was what Theo was aiming at. To start getting better here so that the forest won't be a problem at all.
From the windows of the corridors, many servants and guards saw Theo, such a young kid, training so diligently, and the rumors started to go around from day one.
A certain heir also saw Theo training his body and became surprised. It seemed Theo was brewing motivation in the hearts of the people around him, without even knowing about it.
