Interstellar Beastworld: Raising A Cub With My Mummy System!-Chapter 31: WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD
Two days later, back at the hospital, a very different scene was unfolding.
Vethra stood beside Lin Yue’s bed, running her scanner over the healing wound on her stomach. The line was barely visible now, pink against her skin.
"Excellent recovery," Vethra said. "The tank did its work well. You are cleared for discharge."
Beside her, an older nurse with silver-streaked fur and kind eyes was holding Auriel. She had been there all morning, walking Lin Yue through everything.
"Now," the nurse said patiently, "you need to support his head like this. He is still too young to hold it up on his own."
Lin Yue nodded, watching carefully.
"And when you breastfeed, make sure he latches properly. It will hurt less for you and he will get more milk." The nurse demonstrated, positioning Auriel against a pillow. "Like this. See how his mouth opens wide?"
Lin Yue’s face was bright red.
Uriel sat in the corner, completely unbothered, reading something on his data tablet. He glanced up occasionally, then went back to his reading.
The older nurse continued. "He will need to eat every two to three hours. You will be tired. That is normal. Let His Majesty help when he can."
Lin Yue nodded, still red.
"And burping. Very important. Hold him against your shoulder and pat gently. Like this." She demonstrated. "If you do not burp him, he will be fussy and spit up."
Auriel let out a tiny burp.
The nurse smiled. "See? He is already learning."
Lin Yue laughed despite her embarrassment. "He is a good baby."
"He is a healthy baby." The nurse handed him back to Lin Yue. "You are doing well, Madam. The first few weeks are the hardest. But you have support. That is more than many mothers get."
Lin Yue glanced at Uriel. Still reading. Still unbothered.
"Does anything embarrass him?" she muttered.
Vethra heard and smiled. "His Majesty has been present for briefings on much worse topics. A breastfeeding lesson is nothing."
Uriel looked up. "She is right. I have seen battlefields. This is peaceful."
Lin Yue shook her head. "You are impossible."
"I have been told."
---
An hour later, Lin Yue stood in front of a mirror, transformed.
The hospital had provided a room for her to get ready. A soft dress in pale blue, simple but elegant, flowed to her knees. Kitten heels, low enough to be comfortable but pretty enough to feel special. Her hair had been styled in soft waves, and someone had done her makeup, light and natural, enhancing rather than hiding.
She stared at herself.
She looked... good. Really good. Like a person who had not just gone through forty-eight hours of labor and nearly died.
Auriel was in her arms, awake and alert. He was especially happy today, his little arms and legs waving everywhere. Every few seconds, a cooing sound escaped him, tiny and perfect.
"You are showing off," Lin Yue whispered to him. "You know we are leaving, do not you?"
Auriel cooed.
The door opened and Uriel walked in. He had changed too, into a crisp uniform, his white hair neat, his gold eyes sharp. He carried their bags in one hand.
He stopped when he saw her.
For a moment, he just looked.
Lin Yue shifted under his gaze. "What? Is something wrong?"
"No." His voice was quiet. "Nothing is wrong."
He walked closer, still looking. Then he looked at Auriel, equally perfect in her arms.
"Ready?" he asked.
She nodded. "Ready."
They walked out together.
---
The hospital corridors seemed brighter today. Staff smiled as they passed. Patients peeked out of rooms. Word had spread. The prince’s son was leaving.
Lin Yue held Auriel close, his happy cooing drawing attention everywhere. He waved his tiny fists, completely unaware of the effect he was having.
"He is a ham," Lin Yue said.
Uriel glanced at her. "A ham?"
"An attention seeker. He loves this."
Uriel looked at Auriel, who chose that moment to let out an especially loud coo. "He does."
They reached the hospital registry.
The room was small and efficient, a counter with terminals, shelves of data tablets, clerks in neat uniforms. The moment they entered, everyone straightened.
Vethra was already there, waiting. She gestured to the main counter.
"The documents are ready. All that remains is the signature."
The head clerk, a nervous-looking woman with feline features, slid a data tablet across the counter. On it was the birth certificate, fully prepared.
Lin Yue read it slowly.
Name: Auriel Chaohong Khynos-Lin
Time of birth: 06:47 standard
Weight: 3.2 kilograms
Length: 51 centimeters
Mother: Lin Yue, Earth origin
Father: Uriel Khynos, Primus origin
Her eyes lingered on the names. Chaohong. The name Uriel had chosen. A piece of her world, here on this alien planet.
She picked up the stylus. Her hand moved gracefully across the screen, each stroke deliberate and beautiful. Years of calligraphy practice evident in every curve.
Lin Yue.
The clerk blinked at the elegance of it.
Lin Yue slid the tablet to Uriel.
He took the stylus and scrawled his name quickly, messily, almost illegibly.
Uriel Khynos.
It looked like two lines that had gotten into a fight. The clerk stared at it, then quickly looked away.
Lin Yue bit back a laugh. "That is your signature?"
"Yes."
"It looks like a child wrote it."
"I am a soldier, not a scribe."
"A prince should have better handwriting."
"A prince has more important things to do." He looked at her. "Like keeping you and our son alive."
She could not argue with that.
The clerk took the tablet, verified the signatures, and pressed it into the system. A soft chime sounded.
"It is done," the clerk said. "Auriel Chaohong Khynos-Lin is officially registered. Congratulations."
Lin Yue looked down at her son. Still cooing. Still waving his tiny fists. Completely unaware that he now officially existed in the eyes of this world.
"Welcome to Primus, little one," she whispered.
Auriel yawned.
Uriel’s lips twitched. "He is unimpressed."
"He is tired. It is hard work being born."
They walked out of the registry, into the corridor, toward the exit. Toward home.
Behind them, Vethra watched with a satisfied smile. The clerk let out a breath she had been holding.
And outside, the sun was shining.
"Welcome to the real world my baby! Mummy and daddy are gonna take really good care of you, you have nothing to worry about."
