Invincible Dad-Chapter 647 - 357: That’s it?_1
"Just this?" Ji Jie sneered. The excuse was simply laughable.
"Just this," Ji Gui replied, perfectly calm. "Besides, I had already applied to Mother, and she gave her approval."
No wonder. The doubts in Ji Jie’s heart vanished. So it was Mother who had given the order. Otherwise, her Sound Transmission Jade Slip would have been able to contact the various Moon Clans and the Royal City.
"But you, Sister, why didn’t you stop Xu Lai?" Ji Gui demanded, his voice slightly strained. "If it weren’t for him, I would have already conquered Chang’an City!"
If he had taken Chang’an City, Earth would have been defenseless, completely in the palm of his hand. His prestige would have surely surpassed that of their father, the King. He would have become the strongest warrior of the Moon Clan, a peerless figure unmatched in history! But all of that... was lost because of Ji Jie’s failure.
"Because there’s a traitor in the Moon Clan," Ji Jie’s voice grew icy. "My plan to intercept Xu Lai at Mount Haitang was leaked. Waiting for me were eleven Golden Core experts from the Human Race. They intended to join forces with the Dragon Vein of Mount Haitang to kill me!"
"I could have used my trump card to kill them all, but I held back. I did it only so I could rush back to the Holy Island and get this information to you."
Ji Jie looked coldly at Ji Gui. "And now, you blame me for not stopping Xu Lai?"
CRACK.
Ji Gui clenched his fists, gritting his teeth. "Damned traitor! If I find out who it is, I’ll grind their bones to dust and scatter their ashes!"
Ji Jie stared at Ji Gui, a flicker of hesitation in the depths of her eyes. Could the traitor be him? Her own brother, the Crown Prince?
For the rest of the journey, the two siblings said nothing more, entering the Royal City in heavy silence. They did not enter the inner hall. Instead, they knelt on one knee outside, paying their respects to their father and mother.
"Eldest Sister, Second Brother, Father is tired. Mother says you should come back another day."
The door to the inner hall opened a crack. The one who spoke was a delicate, doll-like girl of about seven or eight. It was Ji Yu, the third child of the Moon King.
"Very well." Ji Jie bowed again without hesitation and turned to leave.
Ji Gui did the same, but a flicker of madness glinted in his eyes.
Counting the time... those eleven Human Swine should be making their appearance by now, right?
The thought had barely formed when a terrifying fluctuation of Spiritual Energy erupted from the inner hall behind him.
It was a self-detonation! Not just from one person, but the combined self-detonation of eleven peak Golden Core Realm experts. The destructive power was comparable to a full-force strike from a mid-stage Nascent Soul cultivator!
Ji Yu, who hadn’t had time to shut the door, was sent flying by the blast, one of her arms blown clean off.
"What!?"
Ji Jie’s face drained of all color. She instinctively caught her blood-soaked, unconscious sister as tears streamed down her own face. "Third Sister! Third Sister, wake up!"
"Protect our father, the King!" Ji Gui shouted, though joy flashed deep in his eyes.
He hadn’t expected the human Golden Cores to detonate without a single wasted word. Perfect. Not only was the destructive power astonishing, but it also ensured no information could be leaked.
Rushing into the inner hall he hadn’t set foot in for decades, Ji Gui suddenly froze.
The inner hall, which should have been obliterated by a Nascent Soul-level attack, was completely unharmed. Inside, however, violent Spiritual Energy still raged.
But... aside from his third sister who had been blown out of the room, there wasn’t a single other person in the hall. Their father wasn’t there. Their mother wasn’t there. The hall was frighteningly empty.
An icy chill shot through Ji Gui’s body. He stormed out of the inner hall, grabbed the collar of his unconscious sister, Ji Yu, and demanded, "Where is Father? Where is Mother? Where are they!"
"Are you insane?!" Ji Jie’s palm flared with Spiritual Energy as she shoved Ji Gui away. Her voice was ice. "Third Sister is unconscious! What do you think you’re doing?!"
Ji Gui fell silent, realizing he had lost his composure. Taking a few deep breaths, he quickly calmed himself and spoke with some reluctance. "I’m sorry. I was just too worried about Father and Mother’s safety."
