Isekai Adventure in the Dimensional Cube-Chapter 1453 - 1022: Lurking Amidst the Cheers (Part 2)
Reiger naturally had no idea who that person was.
Jelina and Hilune were the same; the number of men they had met in their lives was probably very limited.
It was only Melo, the imperial princess, who knew a great deal about the man’s background.
"His name is Yarad Keset, the highest commander of the Libion Duchy army, second only to the King, even the royal family children are far inferior to him."
Melo quietly introduced the man’s background to Reiger and the others.
"He just turned 40 this year, yet he has been at the Amber rank for many years, acclaimed as the most promising candidate to become a Saint in the Libion Duchy."
With Melo’s explanation, everyone immediately understood why the man’s identity and status were only second to a king.
In the human race, not to mention the two great empires and the six kingdoms, not every duchy had a Saint-level figure.
In the entire Source World, while there were at least a hundred duchies, only about ten actually boasted a Saint figure in their realm.
Those duchies with Saints were naturally head and shoulders above others in terms of strength and power, while those without Saints were automatically considered inferior.
Unfortunately, the Libion Duchy was one of those countries without a Saint.
If a Saint were to arise within the country, the status of the Libion Duchy among the whole human race would elevate significantly. Even the Careadohart Empire would have to offer more chips in any trade with them.
As such, Yarad Keset, renowned as the most promising individual to become a Saint, naturally held a pivotal position in the Libion Duchy.
While speaking, Yarad Keset had already led a group to come before Reiger and the others.
"Yarad Keset, on behalf of the Libion Duchy, welcomes Your Excellency the Great Master, His Holiness the Pope, and Her Highness the Princess."
The robust man clad in thick armor ceremoniously saluted Reiger and the others.
"Welcome, Your Excellency! Welcome, Your Holiness! Welcome, Your Highness the Princess!"
The group behind him, including those in the ceremonial team, all bent and saluted toward Reiger and the others.
Most of their gazes were fixed on Reiger, looking at the Marfa’s Sword at his waist, their eyes filled with excitement, exhilaration, and even tears.
As for Melo and Naisa, in any other place, both of them would also be figures of noble status that commanded everyone’s attention. Just one of them coming to a small country like the Libion Duchy could cause a national sensation. Even Bishop Luan and Bishop Andre, who were in the rear, held statuses that would be wholeheartedly welcomed by the entire country in a nation like the Libion Duchy.
Careadohart is one of the only two empires within the Source’s human race. The Holy Sword Church has safeguarded the Holy Sword and the Source World since ancient times. Either of these entities is among the top-tier forces within the Source. Their upper echelons, let alone appearing in a duchy, would cause nationwide climaxes and welcomes even in a kingdom.
Especially Melo and Naisa, one being the future queen of the Empire, and the other being the current Pope of the Church. Each of their identities is extremely significant, arguably standing at the pinnacle of the world.
Not to mention their outstanding appearance and strength. As young women who gather appearance, strength, and status all in one, anything they appear in is bound to quickly become hot news in the Source, highly talked about by the people. Now that both of them appeared together, they should be the center of attention in every sense.
However, when the legendary savior descended, even these two paramount women, desired by countless men, could only become the green leaves at his side.
The two seemed even glad, if not happy, to be the green leaves complementing Reiger, standing quietly beside him, with one smiling widely and the other showing a gentle face. Neither chose to step out to respond to Yarad.
Seeing this, Reiger felt helpless within, but his expression remained unchanged. While discreetly observing Yarad, he spoke up.
"I am Reiger Brillhaut, thank you for your country’s welcome."
Upon hearing this, Yarad’s attitude became even more respectful.
"The Great Savior has only recently arrived in the Source, and now to grace us with a visit, it is truly our honor," Yarad said respectfully. "We should be apologizing, for due to time constraints we couldn’t prepare the best welcome ceremony, and even His Majesty the King was unfortunately struck down with a serious illness and couldn’t personally come to greet you, which makes us feel very ashamed."
Upon hearing this, Melo and Naisa beside Reiger suddenly realized.
They were initially puzzled and displeased by the King not personally coming to greet them.
The King of a small country was far beneath them in status, let alone compared to Reiger. At such an occasion, he should naturally have come in person.
Yet, he did not personally come, and had it been without reason, the entire Libion Duchy would soon be overwhelmed by trouble from numerous national and racial forces.
Unexpectedly, the reason was a serious illness.
"Since he is ill, naturally he needs to rest well." Reiger didn’t mind, even feeling it reduced a lot of hassle, straightforwardly stating, "I do not require a grand welcome. This time I am just passing by, not visiting officially. Your country need not take account of such trivial matters."
"Even so, since the Great Master has come to our country, we should be the hosts." Yarad finally lifted his head, deeply looked at Reiger, and then said: "The Empire’s Magic-guided Battleship will be undergoing routine inspection and resupply for the night; we have prepared the finest accommodations for you all, please follow us there to rest for the night."
With that, as if not giving Reiger a chance to refuse, Yarad and his group along with the well-arrayed ceremonial team started moving, creating a path, and made a gesture of invitation to Reiger and the others.
"Thank you for your effort."
Reiger nodded, taking the lead forward.
Yarad was just about to follow closely when Luan and Andre quietly blocked him.
Then Melo and Naisa naturally followed closely after Reiger, succeeded by the ever-cautious Jelina and Hilune, only after which Luan and Andre followed, leaving Yarad standing there. His eyes flickered for a long time before finally chasing after them.
The Sky Division, the Empire’s elite Knight Regiment, and the Holy Sword Church Priest Group, all as previously arranged, had a portion follow to keep guarding Reiger and the group, with the rest stationed there.
Before long, the group proceeded grandly out from there and boarded the luxurious carriages prepared by the Libion Duchy, making their way to the accommodations.
"Master!"
"Savior!"
"Master!"
"Savior!"
Inside the carriage, similar cheers reached Reiger’s ears all along the way.
Yet he did not feel pleased.
Gently lifting the window curtain of the carriage, Reiger gazed outside.
He saw countless people crowded on both sides of the road, intercepted by the army, cheering loudly, and shouting.
They were indeed enthusiastic.
They were indeed excited.
However, in Reiger’s eyes, shimmering with a transparent sheen, among those excited and cheering duchy citizens, every certain distance, there emerged individuals emitting black auras only visible to him.
Recalling the fate of the infected person on the battleship, his mind replaying the ominously familiar scene of their eyes turning black during a frenzy, Reiger let out a sigh unbeknownst to others.
"It seems, tonight is highly unlikely to pass peacefully."
At this moment, Reiger was already somewhat regretful for not having Sphinx directly set for the destination, canceling mid-route resupply, and routine checks.
Because of his arrival, the city of Orus might soon face an unavoidable disaster.
