It seemed like earth magic, the natural elemental magic to be more precise from the looks of it, however, in actuality, this was not what it looked like.
-Breeeeeeeeeeeeez!
It was ice magic that anyone could have mistaken for normal earth magic by the looks of it, but His opponent was not just a random nobody.
-Zarrrrrrrrrrr…
El used her own magic spells and countered with a swift gesture, and a barrier of shimmering energy formed around her, deflecting the earthly onslaught of shattering crystals of ice that might have proven to be lethal to his opponent.
But she saw through his magic with her sharp eyes and after defending against his attack, she countered with her own spells.
-Oooooooooooooong!
With blazing eyes, she unleashed a torrent of green flames, so powerful that they seemed powerful enough to melt anything it touched but…
{ "Nice." }
Her opponent, the golden scaled Naga, merely smirked and raised his hand.
-Swiiiiiiiiiiiish…!
A gust of wind swirled around him and created a barrier that extinguished the flames before they could touch him.
At the same time when he was blocking this tornado of fire though, he summoned a barrage of ice shards that weren't disguised and shot them at her!
"Ugh!"
Thankfully, she was faster than the shreds of ice sharper than most swords sharpened with the grainiest stones.
-Ooooooooooooooong!
She muttered an incantation in the original Rune language, and a wave of heat washed over their entire battlefield, melting the ice before it could strike.
{ "I see." }
The rune magic was a rare thing, the true one that she had just used being something especially difficult to master, so, seeing the perfect incarnation of the original language and execution of the unique magic put a smirk on his face.
-Zaaaaaa…!
But just this much wasn't enough to stop him. He was just starting at this point.
-Booooooooooooooom!
Their fierce battle raged on, each of them unleashing their most potent spells.
Trees toppled, and the ground shook with the force of their magic. But neither could gain the upper hand, for they were evenly matched in terms of skills… however, the power both of them possessed were on two completely different planes of existence.
-Ooooooooooooooong!
One was only the best mage of this world. Her opponent on the other hand was a being whose true powers surpassed that of a best mage in an entire part of the Worldline.
-Boooooooooooom!
He was only evaluating her at the start, seeing what she was capable of, for ring her to reveal all the cards that she had, forcing her to use all that she possessed in that moment.
And, he had somewhat failed to do it along the way as even as a perfect 'replica' of the original being created by the headmaster, he was swept up in the fun of the battle that they were fighting with spells and magic— something both of them loved.
-Oooooooooooooooooooooooooong!
As the sun began to set, casting long shadows through the forest, both of them knew that the time to move to the endgame had come… so, with a nod of mutual respect, they raised their magic channels, and prepared the last of their spells.
-Ooooooooooooooooong!
Grand magic that represented their origin, as well as their true selves.
{ "I'm fascinated by the way you create your spells… I don't think I've seen any being create spells the way you do." }
His last spell was a pinnacle representation of the pure magic— magic cast without the spells but through their direct refinement of the elements.
"Well thank you. Though, I would have appreciated the compliment more if the one giving it was the real being and not just something that the bastard headmaster had created for the purpose of this test."
{ "Haha. Right? If I was real, I would have requested a draw and, perhaps I might even have submitted to you to learn the way you weave your spells." }
On one side, there was waterdrops of gold, pure drops of energy made with the most concentrated Water element that she had seen in this life of hers, while facing these countless drops of gold were three hundred small magic circles that were formed into a three dimensional complex Tri-hexagonal shape— something that resembled three beehive placed on top of one another.
"I would have liked to have a student like yours as well… actually, do want you as a student." She smirked at him as she wiped off the blood coming from her nose.
She had poured everything she had in this one spell.
"I think we will meet for real one day… no, I'm sure I'll dig you up from anywhere in this Worldline."
The complex spell structure she had created was so complex that even the headmaster watching this whole show was stunned by the presence of such a construction as not only was this final spell of hers was powerful and destructive, it was unbelievably… pretty.
{ "Haha, I will pray you do." }
Every single thread of Mana used to create this spell, every single line that was drawn using her paintbrush like hands on the canvas that could alter reality, every shape, every circle, every element of this one spell that took her six minutes to complete, was making something special.
"You are a fake, dumbass. You can't do the praying."
She was happy with this result as she knew this was one of the best works she had created in this new life of hers.
She was happy with this fight as well since this was the first time she had used the best thing she could use at the full power she was capable of.
{ "Haha, that is right." }
She would have nothing to regret had she won this fight as well, since that would mean she had finished this test with the perfect result, however… since she could tell that even with a spell like that, victory against a pure power like that was impossible, she was in a bitter mood.
"Let's get this over with." There was anger in her eyes as she said that, and even though she was in no condition to even move, there was an excited smirk on her face.
{ "Right." }
She knew exactly what was going to happen when those countless drops of pure elemental energy would collide with the powerful explosion of all six major elements that she could command.
It was going to be pandemonium… perhaps the effects on this forest would the similar to a nuclear explosion.
And this fact actually excited her.
"See you, mister fake."
-Ooooooooooooooong!
She released the spell and like a time bomb ticking off to its last second, the three dimensional spell structure that was moving— charging- with the Mana strings present all around this place, released a concentrated packet of energy in the form of a triangle.
-Zaaaaaaa…!
Which collided with the relentless shower of powerful golden bullets- blocked them for a few seconds- before releasing all the compressed energy that was building up inside of it, all at once.
{ "We will see you… both." }
Silence descended upon the forest for a moment, the two mages, masters of the magic and magical spells, looked at one another with desire and resentment in their eyes for a moment that seemed to have stretched for an eternity… but then, she smiled.
And he bowed his head at the person that showed him how one's weaknesses and current level had nothing to do with the world of magic where they- the mages- had only one task: making impossible, possible.
-BOOOOOOOOOOOOM…!
The spell exploded.
-ZAAAAAAAAA…!
And along with the loud noise that had not only destroyed the atmosphere but also everything that existed in a vast area on this side of the lake, she was done with her final act.
[You have died.]
-BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM…!
And something similar had happened on the other side of the lake with Lucy and his black scaled opponent, so, a greater destruction had taken place on the other side of the lake where not only he had almost lost his life, he had also managed to deal significant damage to the opponent.
-Swiiiiiiiiiiiiiish…
Though, at the cost of his life… as well as the showcase of all the powers he had.
Including his skills that he had never used in an actual fight.
[You have died.]
He died, but the opponent he was fighting was smirking at his vanishing self in those last moments.
"Thanks."
{ "Monster bastard…" }
They failed the first test against a creature that was a copy of their own selves, while they lost the second battle against beings that were higher level than them as well as nearly a match to their fighting style as anything could possibly reach.
Two mages, two sword users possessing destructive Aura that was more powerful in terms of pure power than what he had.
-Swiiiiiiiiiish…
Their fight was simpler than the spells of mages that were being fired at one another since the skills they possessed were mostly support skills that aided their swordsmanship.
They were technique users, just like how the two mages that had fought one another were spellmasters and mages that used magic, and not just the skills.
[Ding!]
They lost their second last battle of the second test and couldn't see the end of their tests, the light that was covering the entire sky.
And though their defeat against the two Nagas disappointed them, they weren't angry or sad after facing this loss.
Their opponents were strong.
They were fake but still, they were strong.
And it was a fact. So, they accepted it.
And when they reappeared in the outside world, they did not talk for even a minute, and jumped right to the last test by grabbing the White card at the end of their count of three.
