ISEKAI? More like I See Crap!-Chapter 242: Getting Fancy with Uncle Hazuki ( )
Chapter 242: Getting Fancy with Uncle Hazuki ( 242 )
That evening, loud laughter and cheerful chatter filled the halls of the orphanage.
The children, dressed in their best formal clothes—newly purchased and perfectly pressed—clustered near the front room, fidgeting with shiny buttons and straightening their collars.
"The party’s starting in the evening, right, Miss Kisha?" asked a little beastkin boy, his tail wagging excitedly.
"Yes~," Kisha replied with a warm smile, smoothing down a little girl’s ribbon.
"Yayyy!" the children cheered together, bouncing on their heels.
"Where’s Uncle Hazuki?" Chasia asked, tugging gently on Kisha’s sleeve.
"Hm? Maybe he’s still in the back? Probably changing," Kisha guessed.
All of them looked down the hallway.
Suddenly, a loud snore echoed through the walls.
The kids froze.
Chasia’s eye twitched in annoyance.
"...He’s not changing, is he?" she asked.
Kisha broke out in a nervous sweat.
"...I don’t think so," she mumbled.
"He’s still sleeping!?" Elvia gasped.
"AGAIN!?" one of the other children shouted.
"But he promised!!"
"Miss Kisha!! Wake him up!!"
Kisha awkwardly smiled and waved her hands.
"O-Okay, okay, I’ll try..." she said softly.
Slowly, the group tiptoed toward the living room.
Kisha peeked around the corner—
And there he was.
Hazuki, dressed in his formal outfit—already fully clothed, with one sock slightly higher than the other—lying sprawled on the couch.
His mouth was slightly open, one hand resting on his stomach, and every few seconds he let out a soft snore.
Kisha winced.
"Umm... Mister Hazuki?" she softly called.
She reached out carefully and gently shook his shoulder—very gently.
"Mister Hazuki...?"
No answer.
Just another loud snore.
Chasia and Elvia stood nearby, arms crossed, exchanging knowing looks—silent agreement passing between them.
Then, without warning, the girls jumped at the same time.
"BUHH!!" Hazuki’s eyes flew open as they both plopped right onto his stomach.
He wheezed, limbs flailing in surprise.
"GUAH—WHAT THE—!!"
Chasia grinned, still sitting on him.
"He’s awake~!"
Elvia crossed her arms, looking proud. "We said we’d wake you, Uncle! You promised!"
Hazuki groaned and flopped back down onto the couch.
"Can’t you all wake me up the normal way?!"
"Can’t you all wake me up normally!?"
Chasia crossed her arms. "Um... we already tried that."
"We even asked nicely... twice," Elvia added with a pout.
Hazuki blinked.
"Oh."
Then shrugged.
"Fair."
He rubbed his eyes, still half-asleep.
"Is the carriage here yet?"
Kisha shook her head.
"No, Mister Hazuki... not yet."
Suddenly, Hazuki sat up straight.
"HAH!? You woke me up when the carriage hasn’t even arrived yet!?"
He looked around at everyone.
The kids froze.
Chasia slowly pointed at Elvia.
Elvia pointed back at Chasia.
"Damn it... I was having a good rest..." Hazuki yawned, scratching his head, then casually headed toward the front door.
Everyone stared.
He stopped at the doorway and glanced over his shoulder, with half-lidded eyes, scanning the group.
"Well? What are you all waiting for!? Let’s go wait outside!"
"Yes, Uncle!"
"Coming~!"
"Let’s gooo!"
Ridan floated above them, arms behind his head, grinning.
"You’re such a softie. You act like you hate this, but you really love all this energy, don’t you?"
"Shut up before I make you wait under the carriage," Hazuki muttered, stepping out into the evening breeze.
"Haha! You can’t! I’m floating and I’m always floating near you!"
Ridan spun around like a smug little storm cloud, arms spread wide.
"You can’t escape me~!!"
"Grrr..." Hazuki muttered quietly.
"Oho~ Don’t be such a grumpy old man!"
"Yeah, yeah, whatever," Hazuki waved him off.
He turned to the group and called out—
"Oi, Kisha!"
"Y-Yes! Mister Hazuki!" she stammered, straightening up quickly.
Hazuki casually reached into his pocket and tossed a coin pouch to her. It landed in her hands with a heavy clink.
"There are ten gold coins inside." fгeewёbnoѵel_cσm
He rolled his neck.
"We’ll stop by the bank on the way. Deposit it. Use it to help manage the orphanage better."
Kisha blinked, then slightly opened the pouch—her eyes widened.
"T-Ten gold...!?"
"What?" Hazuki raised an eyebrow.
She fidgeted nervously.
"Umm... umm... you already gave us a lot... and my account already has more than sixteen gold. It’s... it’s enough to feed everyone for years..."
"Just take it! Don’t ask questions! Go deposit it!" Hazuki snapped sharply.
"Y-Yes... Mister Hazuki..."
Kisha bowed deeply, clutching the pouch tightly to her chest.
Behind them, Chasia and Elvia exchanged glances.
"Uncle’s yelling again..."
"But he’s smiling a little."
Ridan floated low beside Hazuki’s ear, smirking.
"You act like a thunderstorm, but your heart’s as sweet as sugar."
Hazuki snorted.
"Shut up. Before I really try to grab you."
The kids tilted their heads, watching Hazuki suddenly swipe at the air beside him.
"Wraaagh—got you, you damn floating mosquito!!"
Hazuki grunted, reaching out again with a serious look—eyes narrowed, jaw clenched.
"What’s he doing?" Elvia whispered.
Chasia blinked. "Catching ghosts?"
Kisha gently sighed. "No... he’s just... being himself."
To the kids, it looked like Hazuki was trying to catch something invisible, with all the intensity he’d use fighting a monster. But his movements were strangely playful—like he was half-grinning while chasing the air.
"Stay still, dammit—just one slap! Just one!"
Hazuki hissed, swiping again while Ridan floated just out of reach, expertly avoiding him.
"You’ll never catch meee~!" Ridan chimed, laughing like a child spinning in the air.
Then, suddenly...
The sound of hooves echoed down the street.
Everyone gasped and looked over.
Two polished horse-drawn carriages rolled into view, drawn by strong black horses with golden harnesses that shimmered in the sunlight. The carriage doors bore the emblem of Macia’s top rental stable, shining brightly.
"Woooaaah..." whispered one of the kids.
"It’s here! It’s really here!"
Hazuki finally stopped mid-swipe and looked toward the sound.
He saw the carriages pulling up, the coachman stepping down, offering a courteous nod.
Hazuki dusted off his sleeves lazily.
"Looks like it’s happening," he muttered.
Then, with a resigned sigh, he added, "Noble party..."
The children eagerly gathered around the carriages—bouncing in excitement, clutching each other’s hands, their faces shining in their finest clothes.
Kisha stepped closer to Hazuki with a small smile.
"Shall we go? Mister Hazuki?"
Hazuki glanced at the children, then toward the carriages.
Then, with a tired sigh, he muttered—
"...Yeah. Let’s get this over with."
