Chapter 104: New Subordinates

It was odd. Midas didn’t know why, but he could hear the sound of a very heavy object falling.

The noise grew louder before suddenly, an anvil-like object fell to the floor before Midas, causing a large explosion of dust to scatter in the air.

A small cloud of dust formed, dispersing slowly to reveal Dorhal hidden within.

"My liege," Dorhal took a knee and bowed, "I have returned with the troll population. Should I call for them to come now?" He asked subserviently.

Midas’s lip twitched slightly with irritation.

Dust had fallen everywhere, leaving chunks of dirt on the nearby buildings.

"D-Dorhal... put them in the line with the new goblins entering our city," Midas said in a low tone, containing his anger. He was pissed, since Dorhal had destroyed the floor in front of him.

"N-new goblins?" Dorhal raised his head, speaking with slight confusion in his voice. He turned, "Oh... I see." He stood to head toward the trolls that still seemed to be outside of the city.

"Oh... and next time, try not to destroy the entire city hall while you’re at it!" Midas reprimanded in a slightly louder tone. His irritation could be sensed slightly from his words alone.

Dorhal’s eyes expanded, shock filling his mind.

’I... offended Lord Midas!’ He said inwardly, ’How could I make such a mistake!?’ He immediately slammed his forehead onto the ground.

"SUCH A MISTAKE WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN, MY LEIGE!" He roared, standing and walking out of the scene like a robot.

’Never again... never again will I make lord Midas upset!’ He was reassured in his mind.

"Wha..." Midas was at a loss, but quickly shook it off as the goblins from before were beginning to get closer.

"I’m still surprised by the conditions these goblins were living in recently," Gool said to Yemo and a few other goblins beside him. "It seemed much better due to the city’s recent success, but Juuo was stealing that blessing away from them."

"Well, Oga Town had more resources, sure. But Juuo made sure that all those living within the caverns got an allotted amount of supplies. We were forbidden from hunting on our own, instead forced to perform tasks under the king’s rule for sustenance. Even though we survived much more easily, it felt like the passion and lives of the goblins had been taken away." One of the goblins beside Gool and the others said, with a somber look in his eyes.

Loud footsteps could be heard trampling behind them.

Gool turned, noticing the dozens of trolls that Dorhal was leading into the city. They lined up behind the long line of goblins led by Gool.

"Rest assured, Hulo." Gool said to the somber goblin, "Those meager times have ended now. You and the rest of our kin on Star Island will face Lord Midas himself." He turned to face the king atop the wooden platform.

"I think that seeing his face will be a blessing that many never achieve in their lifetimes, soon enough. For now, enjoy his greatness while you still can." Gool said wholeheartedly, facing Midas.

The goblin addressed as ’Hulo’ almost couldn’t believe the words coming out of Gool’s mouth. He was confused as to why Gool seemed to treasure and admire his master so much.

For Gool, the decision was easy. Midas was not only a kind and fair leader. He was a human who improved the lives of countless creatures on Star Island.

He alone saved thousands of lives from war and turmoil, and gave them a place where they could not only coexist, but thrive. Such a goal was the dream of all species within the island since the dawn of its creation.

And now, such a goal had come to fruition due to Midas.

He also cares for everyone as if they were his child. And for me... he has acknowledged my dream.’ Gool said inwardly, ’There isn’t anything more I need to follow him.’

They had all arrived in front of the wooden platform now. The thousands of goblins separated from the line and grouped up before Midas.

Goblins who were already under Midas stood on the sidelines, along with all the other mosquitoes and orcs.

The new trolls joined the group of goblins in the center as Dorhal made his way up to the front with Yemo and Gool.

Seeing each other, Yemo, Gool, and Dorhal cast quick glances followed by swift nods before facing their master in unison.

’Give me praise, lord Midas!’ They all shared the exact same words in their heads.

Midas faced the entire group, his eyes scanning the crowd like a hawk. Yet, the smile on his face made him appear graceful and not threatening.

"So that’s the master?" The goblins began to murmur amongst themselves.

"He seems young."

"He’s quite short for a human."

"Hmm... Lord Midas, correct?"

"I wonder about his capabilities."

"So he is the sponsor who saved us!"

...

The orcs had slightly different reactions.

"Midas, the terrible."

"He is the strong one."

"He looks puny..."

"He is Midas? He is the king of Dorhal?"

Uranus couldn’t help but be struck with awe as he saw the young man.

"M-Midas... that is him." He muttered under his breath. ’He looks... like an average human. Yet, there is a confidence in his eyes that I have never seen on any other being. I can tell... I can tell that he is powerful.’ He thought to himself, amazed.

Just then, Midas’s eyes made eye contact with Uranus’s and stayed locked for a couple of seconds. Midas furrowed his eyebrows, slightly intrigued.

’Hmm... what in the world is that? The leader of the trolls? He looks muscular and strong. I wonder how he compares to the others.’ Midas thought for a split second.

’O-oh my god!’ Uranus shouted inwardly, ’What a fierce gaze! I don’t know what he’s thinking, but he makes my heart beat faster with a simple look!’

Midas smirked, ’Scan.’

’T-ten thousand years of age!?’ Midas said inwardly, shocked at the stature of that number. ’It seems he is also an aspect beast. Since I haven’t reached the Aspect Stage yet, I still don’t know what you gain upon reaching that stage. My system won’t tell me either.’

Shrugging off these thoughts, Midas finally inhaled to speak.
