Chapter 109: Final Recruitment

"W-what!?" Bzzrt instantly replied, shocked, "Y-you musn’t, my lord! We may all be powerful, but Sergalas is still in another league when it comes to raw ability! You will be crushed!" He cried with genuine worry.

"Hmph!" Dorhal grunted, "Mind your tongue, Bzzrt!" He shot a serious look over.

Midas raised a hand as the two began to quarrel. All stopped their bickering and paid attention to him.

"I alone will go, so don’t worry about our strengths and weaknesses," Midas said gracefully.

"W-what!?" Dorhal retorted. All the other beings had similar reactions of surprise.

"Let me join you! With my indomitability, I can surely--" Dorhal was cut off mid-sentence.

"I’m afraid I can not allow that to happen. Sergalas is a creature of grand royal blood. He may have an ability granted by the gods by now as well, and it might supersede your Absolute Indomitability. Seeing as more and more beasts seem to be getting it as time passes, like how Dormon received his just recently, it is likely that Sergalas has long since received his." Midas replied, not willing to accept any other answer.

"It’s fine... I will enter his domain alone. I will promise to you all that I will not die... but if I do, then Gool will take my place as lord." Midas said.

All eyes flew at the goblin.

"M-me!? I am nowhere near worthy, my lord! I’m afraid any one of these three standing before me is actually much more suitable. Why would you choose me!?" Gool asked, at a loss.

"That is what I have chosen," Midas stated, turning his back to the group.

Gool was taken aback, ’I-is that why he called me here in the first place? He’s serious about this...’ He thought to himself.

’Gool is the best leader... yep, he must be.’ Midas thought, furrowing his eyebrows, ’It’s not like the others won’t be there to help him. With his leadership skills, my kingdom may develop.’

He sighed. There was genuine fear in his heart that made his stomach feel as though it were dropping.

He knew that he had a significant chance of dying in the cavern of Sergalas.

’However, I do not plan to fight him. Even with the third breath, I may not stand a chance. I have great power, sure... but without the proper tools or abilities to wield this power, I’m afraid I am not in the position to fight.’ Midas thought.

He got atop Bzzrt, the two soaring through the air promptly as they headed eastward toward Sergalas’s Cavern.

’He is in deep slumber now. I will give him the option to join.’ Midas thought. He was gunning for the fact that Sergalas would choose not to fight him.

Bzzrt was going to be an easy escape. So, if Midas were to run, there was a chance that Sergalas would not chase him.

’Since that beast is barely leaving his sleeping stage, he will have less energy to pursue me. But if he does... this entire island may become a battlefield.’ Midas thought as he zipped through the air.

Within hours, Midas arrived before Sergalas’s Cavern.

This time, there was no need for confusing journeys and uncharted expeditions.

Most of the cavern was already built within. Midas’s mineshafts spread far into the mountain.

The tunnels to Sergalas’s domain were identified and blocked off for obvious reasons.

Bzzrt flew into these blocked off tunnels, swiftly arriving before the main cavern within seconds.

There, however, Midas requested to go in alone.

"I... do not agree to your decision this time, my lord," Bzzrt said, his tone somber. "However, I will loyally agree to it, as that is my duty. Please... return safe."

Midas nodded, "Don’t worry about me, Bzzrt. If all else fails... I will defeat Sergalas myself." He said in a serious tone.

The two parted ways, Bzzrt flying back to the safe zones of the cavern.

Midas turned, walking into the massive underground realm that was Sergalas’s Domain.

Immediately, he figured out where the beast might be.

An enormous pile of bones lies at the far edge of the chamber.

’Scan.’ Midas prompted in his head.

’Wow... as expected, it is far superior to anything else under me. But from what I can tell, out of all of its skills, none of them are boons. Good... that means that Dorhal stands a chance. Still, it isn’t guaranteed. It seems Sergalas is another tier above Dorhal... the Dominion Beast tier. This means that his spiritual energy is above Dorhals, and has a great chance to overpower even a powerful ability such as Absolute Indomitability.’ Midas thought as he neared the pile of bones.

He took out his Warlord’s Ring, received from the game.

’I’ve recently figured out how this ring works.’ He thought to himself, ’It doesn’t just absorb anyone willing to join. Instead, it makes each potential candidate sign a waiver of agreement.’ He poured a bit of his own mana into the ring.

Suddenly, a piece of glowing paper appeared in the air.

It was a contract stating that one would oblige in joining the war under Midas. The contract would be finished right afterwards, however. No caveats attached.

By now, Midas stood mere feet away from the hills and valleys of bone that lay before him.

He was a mere ant in comparison.

He placed his hands on his hips and inhaled deeply, "Sergalas!" His voice echoed throughout the chamber.

Silence ensued for another few seconds. Everything seemed still.

Then, Midas sensed a skull rolling down a hill a few hundred meters to his left.

The skull dragged a few more bones along with it, eventually causing an avalanche. An entire hill was scattered down, revealing a massive part of Sergalas’s coiled belly.

Midas looked over, amazed at the size still.

Then, the bone mass directly in front of him began to rise.

He instantly locked eyes with the moving parts of the bone mountain.

"You are brave to come here again... Midas." A deep and guttural voice reverberated through the ground.
