Island God: Going From Level 1 To World Ruler-Chapter 42: The Plan
"Firstly, for the duration of the next four days, we will not remain here at base," Midas said.
A few worried thoughts crossed everyone’s minds.
’So we are fleeing then?’
’I knew it... We are abandoning our base after all.’
’I see... fighting is useless. It’s obvious.’
"Instead, we will head north and create a new basecamp," Midas said, catching the attention of a Yemo and Gool more specifically.
"Relocating?" Gool said, "So are we going to stay there permanently?" He asked. Everyone was wondering this as well.
Midas smirked, "We won’t stay there for even a second. It will be a decoy base, one that will seem deserted. I’m sure the orcs won’t just stop at our lives. They will take everything, including the beauty of our base and the wildlife around it. So, we will create a fake base for them to trample." He said.
A wave of realization and awe swept through the crowd like a deep breath.
"Whoa..."
"That’s genius!"
"Our base will be untouched!"
Yemo and Gool smiled widely. Their respect for Midas instantly skyrocketed.
His plan was intact. It would guarantee the avoidance of the entire army of the orcs with no cost in life or injury.
However, there was a single flaw in this move.
"I know what you all are thinking." Midas followed up, "How will we manage to build a decoy base in time?"
The goblins nodded. This was indeed the main wrench in the plan.
"That will be solved by the powers granted to me by the world. Since I am a player, my abilities allow me to create bases and structures much faster. In four days, the decoy base will be made without an issue or delay." Midas said with confidence.
These words lifted the morale of the crowd. The fear from before had mostly subsided, as no goblin saw their life in a state of threat anymore.
"With that move, we will have successfully achieved survival. The next part of the plan, however, is how we come out on top." Midas’s words caused everyone to gaze with curiosity and suspense.
"We will all head to Sergalas’s cavern. Since it is essentially almost the same distance away from us as it is from the orcs, we should arrive there on time. Especially because over seven hundred orcs are heading there compared to our measly few dozen." Midas continued explaining his plan, the goblins listening with intent and focus.
After a few more minutes, Midas was finally done with filling everyone in.
It seemed that all were satisfied, smiles plastered across the goblin’s faces.
Midas leaned back and placed his hands on his hip, ’It’s surefire... I will not only defend my base, but also reap the rewards that the orcs seek to obtain...’ He thought, excited.
What exactly was his plan? Well, the answer to that would soon be revealed...
After everyone finished their meals, night had fallen over the basecamp.
For this night, they were going to sleep to their hearts’ content. No worries, no sorrows.
No need to waste time suffering in imagination.
For now, they were going to enjoy this night of rest as much as possible...
And just like that, birds began chirping the very next morning, in rhythm with the slow rising of the sun over the horizon.
Before the sun had even risen, however, Midas and the goblins were on the move.
They traveled for one entire day, making sure there was enough space between the decoy base and the real base to minimize risks.
Upon arrival at their new, soon-to-be base location, Midas began separating the goblins into multiple groups. He handed out tasks like he was Oprah, letting everyone know of their duties swiftly.
The goblins quickly began working, their teamwork admirable and clearly long tested. This gang of goblins wasn’t just a random population. They had been together for many years. Their teamwork and sense of friendship under Yemo were as tight as a knot.
With smiles on their faces, goblins fetched water from a nearby river by the bucketfuls. You see, clay was one of the main ingredients in one of Midas’s blueprints.
Midas currently had his "blueprints" tab open on his system panel. He gazed at the most recent one he had acquired.
[Blueprints]
>[Fortified Wooden Spike Wall]
>[Description: A wall made of wooden spikes. 300 x 300 meters in length. The wall has four watch towers on each corner, and two entrances at the southern and northern sides.]
’Surely this will convince them that this decoy indeed is our actual base.’ Midas thought to himself, wanting to ensure that there was no way the thought of a false base even flashed across the orc’s minds.
Other groups of goblins began chopping wood with small goblin-sized axes. They shouted words of encouragement as they worked. Clearly, they were used to working in harmony.
"Another one!"
"This is light work!"
"Nice chop!"
Goblins spun leaf stems into rope, vines into straps. They sharpened logs into spikes. Others dug hundreds of holes in the ground.
In the midst of this, Midas walked before everyone and raised his voice.
"Behold!" He shouted, capturing the attention of every goblin in the premises.
’Paste the blueprints.’ He said in his head.
A second passed. And then, a flash of blue light dazed the pupils of all those witnessing.
Dozens of what looked to be holograms of blueprints suddenly appeared all across the cleared-out area.
The blueprint of a spike wall covered the entire 300 by 300 meter area as well.
Seeing this, the goblins were awestruck at first.
"All the buildings we will make are pasted into reality. Now, all you have to do is bring the materials nearby, and the blueprint will do the rest of the work for you." Midas proudly exclaimed to the crowd.
The goblins lit up with amazement.
"Wow..."
"Seriously?"
"I guess that’s the power of a player."
Again, the respect for Midas amongst all the goblins had risen.
They didn’t hesitate to take advantage of this new power, quickly moving materials to their appropriate locations.
Soon enough, stone, wood, clay, and rope began molding themselves into a sizable village.
