Chapter 83: King

Midas gazed closely at the new blade he had obtained. Of course, he pulled out the weapon before sending Ulyskethsar flying.

He grinned, ’This blade seems to be made out of a very fine metal. It’s even higher in quality, it seems, than a white iron sword.’ He thought to himself, not seeing a single scratch on the blade of the scimitar. ’Since Dormon has two of them, I don’t have to abandon my fighting style of duel-weilding either.’ He thought, pleasantly surprised by this discovery.

He then gazed back up at the earthworm falling down toward him.

He leaped into the air with his sword clutched tightly in both hands. As he reached attack distance of the earthworm, he spun his body into a front flip and slashed his sword down at a full 360-degree circle.

The attack sliced straight through the body of the earthworm, lacerating 70% of its trunk.

Ulyskethsar screeched at the top of its lungs as it fell onto the ground with a loud thud.

Midas flew down on top of it, landing with a stab into the tube of its body.

He ran forward and approached the head before unleashing dozens of slashes from all directions.

The worm was cut into bits. It quivered and shook like a bug before its body quickly ceased movement.

[You have slain a Warpwart Earthworm!]

[You have leveled up!]

[You have leveled up!]

[Level: 18-->20]

*Ding*

[You have reached the threshold to rank up into the next tier.]

[Congratulations! You have reached the Pulse Tier.]

[You have gained a significant amount of mana. Your internal force has now become more explosive.]

[Your can now power weapons and tools using your mana.]

[You can now power various systems using your mana.]

’Explosive... that means I can draw the power within me out into the real world. It makes sense why I can power weapons then.’ Midas thought inwardly, smirking. He instantly allocated his new stat points with a single thought.

[Vitality: 14-->15]

[Strength: 18-->19]

[Stamina: 14-->15]

[Speed: 14-->15]

*Ding*

Another notification suddenly sounded, catching Midas off guard.

He narrowed his eyelids before inspecting the new notification.

[Congratulations! You have broken through a new level threshold!]

[You have gotten the achievement: A Real Contender.]

[You have received an award for completing this achievement.]

[New skill learned: Scan.]

[Skills]

>[Status]

>[Eye Of Ace]

>[Scan]

[Scan Description: An active ability that allows the user to inspect the status of another being. Scan is limited to living beings due to the user’s mastery. Scan is limited to a certain power level due to the user’s mastery.]

Midas’s eyes widened with surprise.

’Whoa... that’s a handy skill. But what does it mean at the end?’ He raised a brow, ’To a certain power level? Does that mean I can only scan beings that are at the same level of power as I am? Or does it mean there is a much higher limit?’

This part confused him, but he was still happy with the skill regardless.

"Nicely done, Midas!" Gool shouted from afar, both hands placed around his lips to mimic a speakerphone.

"That was amazing, lord Midas!" Yemo yelled.

"Hahaha! That’s the king for you!" Bzzrt exclaimed, especially happy because he still had a grudge with Ulyskethsar before Midas slayed it.

The rest of Midas’s gang celebrated similarly.

He then glanced over at Dorhal, his eyes flickering open with surprise.

Dorhal held his brother’s head high in the sky, blood dripping from the bottom.

’His expression... is blank.’ Midas thought, taken aback.

Dorhal then began walking toward Midas, his gaze meeting the player’s.

The orc army watched as Dorhal moved. Those that could, anyway. Many were still grieving over the deaths of their loved ones.

Seeing the orc commander walk over, Midas army quickly changed their tone.

Many were on high alert, still untrusting of Dorhal. Their eyebrows were furrowed, their expressions stern and curious.

Others were almost in awe, seeing Dorhal walk over to Midas with his own brother’s head in his hands. It was a shocking scene.

Silence fell over the ledge as Dorhal arrived before Midas. He towered over the small player for a few silent seconds before taking a knee.

Many on Midas’s side gasped, unable to believe what they were seeing.

The orc army, however, did not peep a sound. It was as though they were already in full support of what Dorhal was doing.

This was true. But not because of the intention behind Dorhal’s actions. It was merely because they would trust their commander more than their own brains.

Dorhal placed the head of his brother in front of Midas’s feet before bowing his head and facing the ground.

"Lord Midas... for better or for worse, I believe this is the best choice for our kind. You... are a respectable man from all that I have witnessed. You need not say a word... I will trust my instincts, like I always have." His eyes glanced at his red birthmark.

A small gleam of red light shone for but a second.

"Please accept our surrender. Accept yourself as the king of the white orcs of Karak-O..." Dorhal finally looked up at Midas, "And please save my brethren who are still at risk of death." His words were genuine.

Midas could see Dorhal’s willpower through his pupils.

Dorhal didn’t have to explain the throne of dominion.

"Skip it! He already knows..." Gool retorted from the side before it could happen.

’Let’s not ruin the moment.’ He smirked to himself.

Midas smiled widely. No, he grinned with all of his teeth from one ear to the other.

A whirlwind of air fluttered above the fountain.

Purple energy quickly circled to the center and began to condense. Within seconds, a dark purple hex made of a powerful energy formed at the center before dissipating into the air.

"Dorhal, stand." Midas said as the orc quickly listened. "Your kin are being freed as we speak." He glanced back for a second, gesturing for Dorhal to do the same.

Dorhal looked behind Midas and noticed all of the mosquitoes in his army turning and flying into the air.

It was clear that they were departing to rescue the orcs trapped within the walls and burrows of the city.

Dorhal smiled, relief crashing over him like a tsunami.

"Thank you, Lord Midas... I do not regret my decision in surrendering unto you." Dorhal said.

Midas smirked. "Don’t thank me. I will thank you... You have made me a true king, Dorhal." He turned, "Your species will only experience victory and prosperity, I swear it!" He roared, pushing his fists into the air, "Let’s turn this island into a brand new kingdom!"
