Chapter 91: Oga Caverns (Episode 1)

"I wonder why he made you the leader... he didn’t have to choose a leader anyway," Yemo said as he walked beside Gool. He puckered his lips as though he was slightly upset.

Gool raised a brow, casting a glance at Yemo, "Huh? He probably just randomly chose one of us. What does it matter anyway?" He shrugged the thought off.

’Yeah, right...’ Yemo mused, ’He clearly sees you as being better for the role. I mean... you’re older, so I get it. You’re more wise or whatever. But we are here to unite goblins! Thats a task for a king... and I’m the heir. I should be the one given such a responsibility.’ He seemed a bit envious.

"Here it is!" Gool said, sprinting forward over a hill in the midst of the thick brush of the jungle.

Yemo quickly followed, lifting his head over the hill as he saw a cove sticking out from a large hillside.

They were still fairly close to the ocean. One could see the rocky formation caused by high tides on the outskirts of the cave entrance.

The entrance was a circular hole large enough to fit three goblins stacked atop one another.

It looked tropical, covered by sea moss and glowing from the inside in a bright light-blue hue.

They both entered the cavern and began walking within.

"This is the Oga Goblin caves. In Star Island, most individual goblin groups have been wiped out. There may be a few scattered here and there, but the original mother of all on this island is this location right here. Obviously, there is only one race of goblin on Star Island. And that race began right here." Gool said, facing the brightly lit caves.

Inside, they saw large open areas where pools of bright blue ocean water could be seen glowing.

The cave didn’t travel downwards, and seemed to be filled with these open areas full of ocean ponds.

"I see... so this must be my original homeland. Of course, I was born far in the north east, so I never got to explore this land. However, I’ve heard about Oga Town since the day I was born." Yemo replied, intrigued. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

"Hey... you are of true royal goblin lineage, right?" Gool asked, suddenly stopping and turning to face the younger goblin.

Yemo furrowed his eyebrows, "O-of course! Do you mean to say I am lying!?" He shouted defensively.

’I knew this goblin was trying to illegitimatize my right to the throne!’ Yemo thought inwardly, feeling as though these words from Gool had just solidified his theory.

"No... calm down." Gool replied, "I just want to make sure. After all, my plan is to use you to unite the goblins. If that doesn’t work, we will have to resort to harsher options. We are the goblins under Midas Kyrios Stars, after all." He said with a smirk, turning and continuing his walk.

Yemo was stunned for a second.

"O-oh..." He felt a bit bad for thinking so Ill of Gool now. Still, he wasn’t giving the goblin a pass. He was on edge.

After all, what Yemo wanted more than anything was to become king of the goblins himself.

He couldn’t dream of that title being placed on someone else.

It was what he was born for. What he had sought after for his whole life.

Due to this, Yemo also had an inner desire to prove himself during this quest given to him and Gool by Midas as well. Although it was subconscious, much of Yemo’s self-esteem rode on the success of this quest.

’If I can’t even unite the different villages, do I deserve to call myself king?’ He thought to himself. ’It’s okay though... we will definitely come out victorious!’

A low noise of footsteps echoed from the distance deeper within the cavern.

Gool’s ears perked up, his eyes narrowing onto two shadows that were soon to turn the corner.

On the opposite end, two goblins wearing brown rags over their private parts calmly walked toward the exit of the cave.

They had seashells for shoulder, knee, and elbow pads. One held a spear, the other a club.

"What do you think we should have for dinner tonight?" One of them said.

"I think lobster!" The other replied.

"Shut up! You always say that... the last time we had lobster, it was for your birthday. And it was the size of a damn roach!"

The two turned the corner with the same oblivious nature in their mood.

Their eyes lingered forward, noticing two goblins standing before them wearing completely foreign garments.

Their brows furrowed, their grips on their weapons tightening almost immediately.

Yemo’s face was blank. Gool, on the other hand, put on an awkward grin as he scratched the back of his head.

"Hey... boys! How’s it goin... I think lobster sounds great if ya ask me!" Gool said in a polite, almost joking tone. It sounded as though he was trying to ease the tone.

"Who are you? State your name and reason!" The goblin on the left shouted.

"More intruders? It’s been a while. Oga town has been doing well for the past few months." The other muttered under his breath, frustrated.

"Do not fret! We come in peace! We are merely travelers wanting an audience with the king." Gool said, his tone unharming. "Won’t ya’ do a goblin brotha’ a favor and grant us that audience?" He chuckled awkwardly again.

He wanted to seem as harmless and foolish as possible. After all, that would ease the tension the most and make things go as easily as possible.

"Huh..." The spear-wielding goblin on the left said, "I guess that’s fine. But why does your friend there look like he wants to kill me?" He said, pointing at Yemo.

"W-what?" Gool said, turning to face a stone-cold expression on Yemo’s face.

He nudged the goblin’s shoulder, "Lighten up!" He whispered loudly into Yemo’s ear.

"Huh? O-oh!" Yemo quickly put on a weird fake smile.

’I thought I looked strong! What went wrong!?’ He thought inwardly.

’This guy... I don’t think he has any social communication skills. He can’t read the room at all!’ Gool thought to himself, slightly devastated.

’My plan was to let him speak and give his reason for all those within this cavern to follow us. But I think he’s only good at speeches when he’s with his own goblins. It seems I will need to do the talking...’ Gool thought dreadfully.
