Chapter 25: Chapter 25

The girls nodded their heads as they began to prepare. Alexander decided to carry the heavy things.

He carried the suitcase filled with clothes. He also tied the wild banana to his shoulder like a shoulder bag.

While all of the girls carry the lightweight stuff like bamboo shoots and coconut crabs, Jeff didn’t destroy the place since it wouldn’t pose him any problems at all.

If the survivors found his shelter, then that’s good.

So as a good Samaritan, he would just leave it there, consider it as a gift of him for them.

As they went inside the island, Jeff maneuvered the place, taking the lead.

He had left markers the day before to prevent getting lost.

Upon reaching the tall grasses, they made their way through and came upon the spot where they had previously gathered the wild bananas and encountered the snake.

After a few more turns, the familiar river was spotted. After resting for a moment, they crossed over it and finally arrived at the place where they were going to set up the shelter.

Seeing that the stuff was still there, like the pile of rocks and banana leaves were untouched, Jeff then dropped the suitcase and the wild banana on the ground.

They all took a brief rest as Emma and Ariana fell to the ground, their backs meeting with a thud.

"So tiring~ I can’t feel my legs anymore," Ariana spoke, taking heavy breaths, as sweat slid down her face.

Emma wasn’t exempted, her eyes were moist and misty as the sweat on her forehead slid down all the way to her cleavage.

They all took a brief rest before Jeff rose from his seat, aware that it was time to work since they had yet to secure shelter for the day.

His plan was to gather bamboo wood to be used as the main structure for the house. Not only is it good for building shelter because of its strength and durability, but it is also lightweight and easy to transport.

Additionally, bamboo is a sustainable and eco-friendly material, making it an ideal choice for constructing a home on this island.

Its natural resistance to pests and excellent temperature-regulating properties further enhances its suitability for the island environment.

Using bamboo would ensure that the house blends harmoniously with the natural surroundings while providing a sturdy and comfortable living space.

"I’m heading out to collect materials for constructing a shelter and other necessities. Would you like to come along?" he asked the group, gripping the axe.

Hearing his words, they all turned to look at him. They were exhausted from the walk and the preparations, yet they felt guilty knowing he was the most fatigued among them.

They decided to persevere, determined not to be a deadbeat.

Jeff, observing their expressions, didn’t press them further. His invitation was merely a suggestion for those who were bored and was very much eager to work.

However, seeing their weariness that is adorned in their faces, he decided to proceed alone.

"Don’t worry about it," he reassured.

"I just suggested something in case anyone felt bored or restless."

As he was about to leave, a hand tapped his shoulder. He turned to see Layla standing there.

"Captain, may I accompany you?" she asked.

Alexander just looked at her, and seeing that she really wasn’t in a good condition, he shook his head.

"No need, just stay here and rest. I’ll be right back. Don’t try to run too far from the place. If anyone of you gets lost, it will be a big trouble," he said to Layla, raising his voice slightly so the others could hear as well.

Hearing what he said, they nodded their heads. But Layla wanted to press further, but Jeff was determined to go alone.

Regarding the concern of getting lost, they were already adults, so the likelihood of getting lost was minimal.

However, exercising caution and providing reminders would further reduce that risk.

"I’m off now, don’t be upset ok. Next time, you’re coming with me for an adventure," Jeff said, grinning as he twirled the axe in his hands and rested the flat side of the blade on his shoulder.

His action just now was so cool, making Layla’s face turn red with a hint of admiration. Alexander then walked away, leaving the group.

This time, he planned to take a lot of bamboo wood, not only for building but also for making weapons like bows and stuff.

Also, he could use the bamboo wood to filter water, removing the impurities.

As he retraced his path, the familiar bamboo forest emerged before him. Without wasting any more time, he began to chop down some of the bamboo stalks.

He selected bamboos that were not hard and easy to carry. With about 6-8 swings, a creaking sound signaled him that the bamboo is going to fall, as it landed on the ground with a heavy thud.

He did not stop his work as he needed many of these; after cutting each one, he moved on to another slender bamboo close by.

A series of notifications kept popping up, making his heart blaze from the sound. The ringing sound just became his favorite music as it kept buzzing and buzzing.

Having chopped a substantial quantity of bamboo, his satisfaction was palpable. However, an issue arose.

He realized he would need to make a three-way trip to complete the transportation, which elicited a heavy sigh from him.

While Jeff was deep in thought, he chose to stockpile the bamboo as he try finding something beneficial in the forest, such as food, given that he was here so hunting is good.

Jeff then collected the chopped bamboo, creating a stockpile to ensure it would sustain itself. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

With his axe in hand, he ventured further into the dense bamboo forest, which was thick with underbrush, making the navigation difficult.

With forceful swings of his axe, he cleared a path through the thickets and underbrush, which became increasingly sparse as he progressed even further.

Eventually, he overcame these natural obstacles. As he glanced at the place, it was still in the bamboo forest.

Jeff then journeyed for a while in this place, wondering why there were no boars or wild animals.

After some time, he came upon a rocky wall that opened into a spacious area and a cave with an overhang. At this sight, Jeff was both astonished and exhilarated.

He could see that the place was a good location for shelter, which greatly sparked a desire within him.

"It is even better, than the place that I want to set up a shelter. Sadly, if there’s a cave, then there must be a wild animal living in this place. More likely a bear," he thought, observing the place.

Jeff then decided to explore the place, when he arrived outside of the overhanging cave. He looked inside the cave but tried to sense if there is an animal or sort of.

Noticing nothing unusual at first, he decided to take a closer look. As he reached the entrance of the cave, he stumbled upon something intriguing you could say.

Distinct tracks covered the ground, large footprints embedded in the rocky surface, accompanied by deep, sharp claw marks both ground and walls.

Running alongside them was a massive groove in the earth, as though a tail had been dragged through it.

The first thought that came to his mind was a snake, given the size and shape of the trail. But how could he explain the claw marks?

The possibilities left him uneasy: either a massive snake had slain the previous inhabitant, or this creature was something entirely different, something with both claws and a tail.

Scattered around the cave were bone fragments from various types of animals.

Large and noticeable burrows were also dug into the rocky ground, further hinting at the presence of something unusual.

"What is that smell?" Jeff muttered, wrinkling his nose at the musky odor in the air.
