Island Survival: Starts by chopping a tree-Chapter 30
Charlotte, hearing her seductive words, her heart trembled and her face turned red with shame.
"You seductress! Don’t compare me to you. Hmph," she said angrily, her voice so intense yet palpable that only Emma could hear.
Emma just smiled naughtily as she hugged her, her boobs sandwiched Charlotte’s arms as she whispered flirtatiously.
"Are you angry because I hit a soft spot~," she teased again.
Charlotte, whose face was already beet red, turned crimson while some smoke began to seep out.
She pushed her away while walking away. "Talk and gossip whatever you want. Your words had no basis at all," she bellowed loudly, which was heard by the others.
Seeing that Emma was pushed down, they were confused about what happened between the two.
Feeling their gazes on her, she just waved her hands and responded to their looks. "Don’t think about it. We were just playing,"
Hearing the answer, Jeff and the others nodded their heads. Emma then stood and went towards Charlotte, who was on the far side, close to the trees, using a stick to draw something in the ground.
Her mind wandered, lost in thought. She understood that what she felt for the young man wasn’t love; it was gratitude.
She already had a crush when she was a student, so she knows the feeling. Also, she had a fiancé arranged by her family.
Even though she hadn’t seen him before, but she had heard lots of stories about that guy. Like how he joined the army, becoming one of the commanders in his twenties, making him a genius.
Of course, she also respected and admired this kind of person, since their bravery to protect the country shows no bounds.
But does she love him? That question she doesn’t know, since she’d never met him before. But she still has to marry him since this is what their families arranged, and she wasn’t opposed to it.
Even at a young age, she harbors a desire to start her own family. She may not fully understand this longing, but the sight of adorable children makes her heart flutter with the anticipation to become a mother.
Her parents were pressuring her to have children so they could hold their grandchildren, but she was uncertain about the man’s responsibility, as she did not know him at all.
As for him and the young man? It will be impossible, since she already had a fiancé to begin with. Also, why am I even thinking about this! she thought, feeling flustered.
"I’m five years older than him. This is wrong! This is all Emma’s fault. That seductress’s mouth is so unruly. I only met him for like two days; falling in love and having a relationship that fast is not right," she said inwardly.
She then heard some footsteps behind her. Looking back, she saw it was Emma. Her eyes turned daggers, staring at her.
Emma not taking it seriously, she just sat beside her. As she saw Charlotte shift her look to the ground, playing with the stick, ignoring her.
"Hey, sis, it’s just a joke. Don’t take it so seriously," she apologized, looking at her with a wry smile.
This situation always happened back then. When she teased her, and when Charlotte couldn’t fight back, she would ignore her for life unless she apologized.
"Are you going to ignore me now? Look, I’m sorry. You don’t have to get angry and ignore me for the rest of your life, right?" she exclaimed.
Charlotte, who felt somewhat better, finally looked at her. Emma, seeing this, felt relieved and was about to speak when suddenly...
A hand slapped came flying catching her off guard. As it hit her boobs, making her shocked as they swayed from the impact. Making her release a slight moan, from the pain.
It even jiggled for a bit but, she stopped it by placing both of his hands in an X.
"You, you! Why did you slap me there?!" she retorted with a red face, pointing at her.
"That’s just payback, hmph." she snorted in reply as she stood up with a smile.
Seeing that she was back to normal, Charlotte just let it slide as she cupped and massaged it.
"It hurts~," she said in a low breath, squeezing it making her groaned.
Back to them, Jeff stood up since rest was now done and it was time to work while he was strong.
Looking up at the sky positioned directly overhead, it seemed to be either 12 o’clock or 1 o’clock in the afternoon. He couldn’t be certain, as there was no clock in sight.
"Should I make a clock? Let’s make one tomorrow, since I have to make something that is in priority," he muttered inwardly.
As he stood up, they realized he was about to resume working. Jessica, who was sitting on the ground, chose to take the initiative and offer her assistance.
"Captain, do you need any help?" she inquired, rising to her feet as the other two followed suit, their gazes fixed on him, signaling their willingness to assist.
Jeff pondered how they had anticipated his need to work, but he appreciated their initiative and felt at ease since they had offered their help first.
"Yes, I’m going to need your help. I’m going to open the remaining five coconuts, and we’ll turn them into cups," he responded.
"I’ll demonstrate first, so you’ll know how to do it," he finished, as he picked up one coconut.
The girls, Layla, Jessica, and Ariana nodded their heads, waiting for him to take action.
Jeff then held the coconut firmly. He did this on a stable and solid surface to avoid accidents. He then used the axe to carefully chop off the top of the coconut, about an inch or so, creating an opening.
After that, he tore the fibrous husk with his hands easily. He then looked at the group and said, "Don’t throw the husk away. Just stockpile it, since it has lots of uses," as he finished removing every inch of it.
"Now, you are going to drain the coconut water. Or if you want to drink it, that’s okay too," he instructed.
Jeff could see that he could make large cups out of the coconuts, so a smaller cup wasn’t desired. Since he would have to cut the coconut in half by chopping through the middle.
"Next is to hollow out the flesh. This one will be easy, since the hole I made is the size of a fist, so your hands can fit inside,"
He then used a piece of the inner coconut shell as a makeshift spoon to scoop out the flesh. He didn’t use a knife, since it’s long and not round.
The method he was using gave him better control and reduced the risk of damaging the shell as he scraped out the coconut flesh from inside the shell.
He even took a bite from the coconut flesh as he passed it to the girls, who also took a bite while looking at his work intently.
"Remove as much of the flesh as possible to create a clean and smooth interior. Got it!" he stated.
"Got it," the three muttered in unison.
"Now, we can use this knife I made to carefully smooth out the edges of the coconut shell opening to make it comfortable to drink from," he muttered as he made it smooth until it became comfortable to put your lips on it.
"And lastly, is to rinse the inside of the coconut shell with clean water to ensure it’s free of any debris or remaining coconut flesh. But finish the other’s first, so you can clean it at the same time," he said.
"But before I go, I’ll pry open the other coconuts first so you can just remove the husk and the rest," he spoke as he pried open the remaining four coconuts.
When he was done, he placed them on the ground as they began to work. He could see that the three were working together.
"We should remove the husk first, right? Let me try, ahhh!" Jessica groaned as she felt how hard it was actually to be pulled.
"How come this thing is so hard to remove?!" Jessica exclaimed, her irritation was clear as she tugged at it forcefully.
Her face turned red, and some faint lines appeared in her face, her voice growing deeper with frustration.
Seeing her struggle, the others were curious if it was truly that difficult. After a while, Jessica gave up, slumping to the ground, drained of her strength.
"Let me try," Ariana said, taking it from Jessica’s hand. Jessica just sighed, feeling exhausted.
Ariana also gave it a go, but as she pulled, her face flushed red, and her hands trembled with frustration. The difficulty was starting to get to her as well.
"Can I?" Layla said when she saw that Ariana was about to die after taking many attempts but failed.
Passing it towards her, Layla also did it but was shocked. Even she found it hard. By giving all of her strength, she only removed a bit of it.
"The gap in strength can’t be this big, right?" she said with fire burning in her eyes.
The three of them circled the coconuts, looking at it with determination in their eyes.
"Ah, do you need help?" Jeff asked, seeing them struggling so hard.
What he received was a fierce glare from the three, making him shrink back.
"No need. We can do it, just go and do your own thing" they said coldly.
Smiling wryly, he decided to give them a hint. "You do know that you can use the knife to make a cut into the husk to create a starting point. After inserting the blade of the knife into the cut, twist it to pry away sections of the husk. You can then use your hands to peel off the loosened fibers, making it easier," he instructed.
"Just continue this process until the husk is completely removed, revealing the hard shell of the coconut," he finished.
But what he received was just a cold glare from the three, making him scratch his head.
"I’ll be on my way. I’ll just leave it to you three. Good luck," he said as he walked away.
