Chapter 104: Witcher Academy.

"Don’t think too highly of yourself and think that I’m actually interested in the likes of you lot." He ended his sentence with a cold sneer.

Visible pulsing veins emerged on Snows face as her eyes instantly reverted to slitted serpentine ones, but Adrian was quick enough to place his hand on her shoulders to calm her down.

" I’m sure young master Lucuis meant nothing serious when he spoke. There’s no need for both our parties to enter a disagreement because of this." Said Adrian with a forced smile, seeing Snow gradually calm down even more, he let out a sigh of relief, then turned to spare Lucuis’s a glance.

" While I appreciate your magnanimity young master Lucuis, I’d like to implore you not to agitated my wife anymore than necessary."

" Brother...." Leo spoke up, giving Lucuis an awaiting gaze.

" My apologies if my words caused the both of you any discomfort. I shall refrain from saying anymore displeasing remarks that would irritate your dear Wife..." Leo felt that there was something with how his brother said at the end of his sentence but since he’d basically apologised for his actions, he decided to brush it off.

’ All I can do for now Is continue on with this act of mine. Hopefully one day I won’t have to do this any longer. Maybe by then I’ll....’ his thoughts paused at the end before vanishing from his head.

After awhile, Leo and Adrian tried to diminish the tension within the room but alas, it did nothing to help, quite the contrary, Snow refrained from saying another word while Lucuis continuously watched the passing scenery outside the carriage.

Though they had stopped at one point so as to give the other two necklaces to Grey and Emma who were in the opposite carriage along with Amy. Then the carriages started once more.

Eventually, both carriages arrived at their destination. Having left the capital itself or to be fair, it’s developed area.

While not the academy itself, this was more like a gate crossing, where they arrived at a road who’s end had emerged, in quite a seemingly empty, poorly developed neighborhood. sitting by the road was an old man in beggars clothing.

Lucuis said nothing but retrieved several pieces of parchment from his clothes, which he tossed into the beggers hat which lay on the dirty ground Infront of him.

These parchments were no more than the items that showed that their group had done the necessary in other to participate in the academy’s entrance exam.

The beggar didn’t count the papers as if he could already see through the carriage and view the number of individuals within.

He merely pointed in the direction the road had ended. Before the coachman could utter a word, Lucuis ordered them to continue on.

Non of them dared to defy his order and did as asked..

Just as they reached the edge of the road and their doubts grew to its peak, they found their surroundings suddenly change and the next moment, they all found themselves on an open road with in vast green fields.

" Keep moving on, don’t stop till I tell you." Said Lucuis.

" As you wish, young master." While astonished, both coachman agreed without complaint, leading the carriages forward.

Which the passage of time, Lucuis had caught sight of a few individuals on their way which they had passed.

Judging by their attires, he concluded that they must’ve been other examinees like themselves.

After who knew how long, they arrived at their final destination, in a wide open square where other carriages and plenty of people could be seen, all standing outside the gates of what looked like the very picture of a lofty looking institution behind it.

’ So this is the fabled Academy.’ Lucuis said to himself in awe, for while he could see it, what he really saw was more of a blur rather than a detailed sight, which meant that the academy itself must be blocked off from the detection of non members by some kind of spell.

He commands the carriages to come to a stop, the coachman, as professional as they were, made sure they brought both carriages to a steady halt, one which made no effort to rattle their bones whatsoever.

Some of the onlookers who hadn’t arrived in carriages shifted their attention towards the new arrivals.

" I wonder who it’ll be this time." One of them asked with visible curiousity.

" Two carriages huh? And look at how neatly dressed the coachman are. I bet you those horses are nothing short of pedigree ones. It must be some more nobles coming to partake in the exams."

" Hahaha, even if that were true, aren’t they simply throwing their lives away by doing this, what could those snot nosed people know about surviving on their own that they’d dare to come to the Witchers Academy." Said another in a haughty manner. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

The onlookers all watched on eagerly as the coachmen alighted from their positions and moved to open the doors of both carriages.

Upon seeing them, most of their eyes widened. For Grey, Emma, Snow, Amy and Adrian were the firsts to get down.

" So pretty...." A few of them blurted out unconsciously.

" They don’t look familiar, I don’t recall them being from any noble households I know?" Said one of the crowd who seemed to be a prospective noble himself.

" Who’s that bourish man standing next to them. Don’t tell me that these beauties are rich enough to even pay for their attendants admission."

" What I wouldn’t give to be dotted on like that."

" Are you serious? Can you hear yourself?" Another remarked with ridicule. " Who would want to be a kept man like that."

" Better to be a kept man than some broke country bumpkin."

" You bastard! I dare you to say that again." Both parties glared at each other as gearing for a fight but all of a sudden, everyone’s attention was once more drawn away by the sight of two more figures alighting from the carriages.
