Amongst everyone present, only Leo wasn’t stunned, rather he had a faint smile emerged on his face momentarily. Truth be told, he’d been just about to step forward and stop his brother.
But seeing this, his last bit of suspicions towards him returning to his old ways vanished with the wind, he really had to believe it, this brother of his had finally changed for the better.
" Might I be presumptuous as to ask for your name?"
" Umm.. my name?" The young baron was quite lost in thought. After hearing the murmurs of the crowd and realising who he was speaking to, he was even more at a loss for words towards what was happening. While his family was a noble one, he didn’t dare to believe that the Morningstar household wouldn’t be able to deal with them if they pleased, so receiving this sort of reaction from the young lord was definitely an unexpected experience.
" It’s Gunter... Gunter Nixius of the Nixius barony." the young man took a deep breath and stood up straight before speaking in a slightly trembling tone.
" Well Gunter. It’s a pleasure to meet you." Lucuis said while stretching out his hand. " I’m looking forward to seeing you pass this examination. " He added with his signature charming smile.
" L-Likewise." Gunter said, though right now his body was trembling a little. Most might not understand but what Lucuis had just done now was a pave a way for him, if he got admitted into the academy, then less people would think to mess with him easily, even if he didn’t get admitted, most would still believe he had some sort of relationship with the future head of the Morningstar household, such news was bound to suprise anyone.
Gunters coachman in particular felt as if he’d struck a rock and obtained a spring. To think they’d receive such an outcome after almost teetering on the brink of destruction. If this was the old Lucuis, who knew what ghastly fate would’ve awaited them.
The commotion had just settled when all of a sudden the ground began to tremble, everyone’s head quickly spun in one direction all at once.
They all witnessed the sight of another coach arriving in ultimate grandeur, just the 6 horses pulling the carriage along were without a doubt, stunning to the extreme, not to mention to luxurious design of the carriage itself as it charged forward.
Rather than coming to a stop, the carriage continued to charge forward.
It seemed this carriage had purposely arrived late as it it knew that non would dare to start the exams without the one within.
" Wait a moment, why isn’t it stopping?!"
" Damnit! It’s gonna run us over!"
The carriage completely abandoned the already present pat cleared by the examines and instead decided to pave its own path, the very air of rebellion permeating off of it as it charged forward, strange enough, there were no coachmen pulling along the reigns, the carriage seemed to be running on its own as if by the hands of some invisible force.
The horses didn’t fear the people in their part, instead their eyes seemed to emanate some kind of Innate pride towards those around them, putting only their kind in their eyes.
One by one, all the examines were forced to scramble out of its way, non daring to stop not wait, for one second of hesitation seemed to guarantee that they would be run over without the shadow of a doubt.
Leo seeing the carriage rushing towards them, hurriedly sped forward and grabbed the Nixius family coachman before leaping away, the girls did the same thing as well. Even Lucuis didn’t hesitate to leap out of the way this time, but after taking the first leap.
" What on earth is wrong with you! Can’t you see what’s coming."
" Get out of the way already!!"
Lucuis who had just taken the first leap suddenly heard several voices screaming out in vexation. Turning his head mid motion, he saw that they were all yelling for Gunter to get out of the way but the guy stood their, frozen, his face panicked, his whole body paralyzed by fear of in the incoming carriage.
" Crap!" Lucuis cursed his luck, rather than taking the second lead, the moment he landed, he planted his feet firmly onto the ground before leaping back in the direction of Gunter, at that moment, the carriage was almost upon him!
Lucuis’s eye’s didn’t hesitate, suddenly brimming with determination, rather than rushing towards the frozen man, he instead swerved in the direction of the racing horses.
He leaped into the air, his right hand clenched into a fist. At the same time, no one noticed the necklace on Lucuis’s neck suddenly permeating a dark aura that began to diffuse into his body, quickly spreading outward and heading towards his clenched fist.
Lucuis was aware of the fact that there was no way in hell he could stand up to these six majestic beasts, but even so, he refused to stand by and watch as the friend he’d just made was trampled to death.
He refused to let who do ever was within that carriage do as they pleased, the meer thought of it fueled him with several chaotic emotions that seemed to spur on the cursed necklace.
As his fist came towards the sprinting horse in his direction at the front of the procession, the once prideful animal suddenly stiffened, it’s whole body seemingly paralyzed with fear, staring at Lucuis from the corner of its eyes, it seemed to see what others couldn’t, a seemingly deranged phantom projection of a woman behind Lucuis with a frenzied look in her eyes as she stared at it.
Rather than take the punch head on, the beast pulled the breaks, stomping it’s hooves into the ground and plowing out the earth, it’s abrupt stop naturally left the others horses unbalanced, the onlookers watched in astonishment as well six beasts suddenly stumbled over one another and came crashing onto the ground, digging up some dirt before eventually coming to a stop inches away from the feet of the still frightened Gunter.
