John Wicked: Endlessly Evolving My Pet Monsters-Chapter 9: Mutation On Variant
Chapter 9 - Mutation On Variant
"Yey, we met on the first day in just a few hours," Yuna said with a grin as John and Alfred neared her.
"Were you planning to spend days here until I arrived?" John raised an eyebrow in question.
"Well..." Yuna coughed and said. "I would have tried to get someone here to go with my plan if you didn't arrive by tomorrow. The reason is that I actually found a variant of Silverwind Eagle, and I don't want to let anyone capture it."
"A variant?" John frowned before he suddenly remembered and was surprised. "Dark Silverwind Eagle?"
"Yes! Dark Silverwind Eagle's wind power is black wind that has corrosion power, and it's a notch more powerful than regular Silverwind Eagle's wind power!" Yuna excitedly said," "I want it."
John blinked and asked, "Where is it?"
Yuna looked around for a few seconds before she whispered. "It's in this cold spring. Don't tell anyone, but when a Silverwind Eagle hatches a Dark Silverwind Eagle egg, it throws the egg down because the dark egg's aura can affect its other eggs and kill them."
John didn't know that, as there was no information about this in the academy.
"But if the egg survives, a Dark Silverwind Eagle is born."
John looked at the cold spring beside the tree and said, "So the egg is inside. Why haven't you taken it out yet?"
"Well, something's strange with it." Yuna turned to the lake and squinted her eyes before they faintly glowed with sun-like patterns. "The egg has a glowing blue pattern, so this variant might actually mutate. It could even get a Water attribute along with Wind. I wonder what kind of evolutions would become possible for it after that? Awesome, right?"
'It looks like Three-Tailed Sun Fox gained an ocular-type skill. It also reached Prime-stage, so I guess she must be fighting.'
"Yeah, it's cool. So, how long until the egg hatches?" John asked.
"Judging by its size and my observation, it could take a day."
But just as she finished answering, Yuna suddenly screamed, his eyes glowering more.
Startled, John asked, "What happened?"

"T-The egg is cracking..." Yuna said, her expression anxious and uncertain. "The egg is small, but... I don't know what's going on. I've never witnessed a Dark Silverwind mutation involving water.
John couldn't see much in the spring, and it was a bit deep, like roughly five to six meters, so he couldn't see the egg at all.
Usually, there would be monsters inside, but it seems Yuna killed the Fish Monsters in this spring already.
'But to think such a mutated Monster would be born here... maybe there's something special in this cold spring?'
Just as John was lost in thought, Yuna suddenly jumped into the spring, splashing him with water.
"..."
'Fortunately, she has her Three-tailed Sun Fox to dry her and keep her warm,' John weakly smiled. 'Otherwise, the cold and wind here would even kill unprepared students.'
Splash!
"I got it!" Yuna emerged from the water and swam at the edge before coming out.
John saw a palm-sized dark eagle with blue sparks on its shining fur and feathers. It had bright and big eyes colored neon cream with vertical black pupils.
"Wow," John muttered as he inspected the Eagle. "You are too lucky, Yuna. I'm almost tempted to snatch it from you."

Yuna sat down and rested against the tree while her Sun Fox lit up floating fireballs on its three tails to warm and dry her.
John sat across from her while Alfred also looked at the Eagle curiously.
"Woof!"
The Eagle turned to Alfred and cried while spreading its wings.
Alfred yelped and barked at John twice while panting with its tongue out, drooling.
"Nope," John wryly smiled.
"What is it saying?" Yuna curiously asked.
"He wants to eat this bird."
Yuna winced and took back her hand, putting the Eagle close to her chest while glaring at Alfred, "Bad Dog!"
"Awooo!"
"Alright, buddy. It's time for you to rest inside the pet space for a bit."
John put Alfred inside his soul space and said to Yuna, "What's the delay? Make a soul contract with it."
"Yes," Yuna replied, her eyes displaying both excitement and nervousness.
The Eagle looked at John for a bit before it turned to Yuna as she infused her soul energy into the Eagle and communicated without filter.
To tame wild Monsters, one had to form a bond and make a soul contract. Alfred recognized John, so there wasn't any trouble, but if a wild Monster rejects the contract, people wouldn't be able to make it their Pet Monster.
Of course, some people beat the Monsters to make them lose their will, and on the verge of death, they force them to make a contract, and Monsters accept it to survive due to their survival instincts. Of course, the success wasn't guaranteed in this method too, as some Monsters were stubborn and could refuse, but the success rate was high nonetheless.
However, taming Monsters this way was usually frowned upon and considered a loss of potential for the Monster because they would never be able to fully bond with humans when tamed like that.
As Yuna tried to comfort and communicate gently with the Eagle to form the soul contract, her face suddenly paled.
Shii....
The Eagle spread its wings and turned to John while Yuna's eyes turned teary.
John figured out what happened and dryly smiled, "Well, you can still try after staying with it a bit, you know?"
Shii...!!
The Eagle whistled roughly while looking at John, and tried to fly as it crashed into John's face.
"..."
John grabbed it and pulled it in front of him as the Eagle began nodding at him constantly.
"It wants to bond with you!" Yuna pouted as she wiped her tears. "This is unfair!"
"I saved it and brought it out of the water, so why does it want to stay with you?!"
Yuna's eyes turned teary again.
"You are such a crybaby," John wryly smiled.
Yuna turned her face away, feeling like crying out loud but suppressing it.
She really wanted that Eagle to become her Pet Monster!
The Sun Fox nudged her and rubbed its head before licking Yuna's cheeks, consoling her.
"We can still go with our plan, Yuna. We can mate this little buddy with a Silverwind Eagle," John said as he rubbed the Eagle's head as it cried joyfully on his palm. "Surely, one of the eggs from the pair would turn out to be special, right?"
Yuna turned back to John and saw how this Eagle was acting like it had found its parent with John. Suppressing her jealousy, she sighed, "I feel like crap, but you are right."
"You tame it. I'll go and search for a beautiful partner for this bastard," Yuna pouted at the Eagle before getting up.
