The meat was gone, the marrow was gone, the Black Bear Demon had completely given up hope.

He walked away, dispirited and soulless...

As he closed the door behind him, he glanced at the bone stick on the ground and couldn’t help but move closer. He picked it up and looked up at the sky. Indeed, there was not a trace of marrow left! And as for the meat on the bone, it was even cleaner than if a dog had gnawed it!

"Cursed dog?" cursed the Black Bear Demon internally.

Just then...

"Hey, there’s no meat left on that bone!"

Tang Sanzang’s voice rang out.

The Black Bear Demon started, hurriedly throwing the bone back onto the ground. Despite being somewhat simple-minded, he was a king of the mountain and cared about his dignity.

It would be too embarrassing to be seen picking up leftovers like this.

So, the Black Bear Demon tried his best to maintain his facial expression and coughed, "Don’t misunderstand... I... I was just... um... cleaning up. Throwing bones around, how dirty it gets..."

Tang Sanzang tilted his head as he watched him.

The Black Bear Demon broke out in a cold sweat under his gaze...

Tang Sanzang belched and said, "I see, I was going to offer you some meat, but since you were just cleaning up, never mind then."

Tang Sanzang turned to leave, but suddenly felt a tug on his leg!

Looking down, he saw the Black Bear Demon hugging his thigh, his dark, watery eyes looking up at him: "Elder Tang, give me a piece of meat. It’s been three years... Do you know how I’ve managed these three years? Eating bamboo shoots daily, occasionally managing to catch a fish...

Is this the life of a bear?

I want to eat meat!"

Tang Sanzang was speechless and patted the Black Bear Demon’s head, saying, "Okay, just wanting some meat, right? Stick with me, and I’ll make sure you have enough and even get to be picky!"

Upon hearing this, the Black Bear Demon’s eyes lit up, "I don’t ask to be picky, just having meat is good enough!"

Tang Sanzang pulled out a lamb shank and threw it to him: "A three-thousand-year-old lamb, a heavenly secret recipe, try it."

The Black Bear Demon picked up the lamb shank, and tears immediately came down. Whether it was from happiness or something else, he didn’t eat right away but started pinching his thigh like he was crazy!

Finally, convinced he wasn’t dreaming, he hugged the lamb shank, eating it with his face covered in tears.

Tang Sanzang shook his head, sighing, "Just like this... how could he cultivate anything?"

The Black Bear Demon said with a crying tone, "Do you think I wanted this? I was forced here by the Bodhisattva. If I don’t cultivate, what can I do? I can’t beat him."

Tang Sanzang laughed...

He did have a certain appreciation for the Black Bear Demon.

Firstly, there was no smell of blood on him, meaning, even when he was a demon, he hadn’t killed humans. He hadn’t even eaten raw meat and hadn’t killed much!

Secondly, his stubborn, unyielding character also earned a bit of Tang Sanzang’s respect.

Lastly, he had never seen such a dark bear before. It seemed a pity to kill him.

Of course, now Tang Sanzang didn’t sway the Black Bear Demon just because he appreciated bears; it was something else he was curious about...

"Will I really see the Dragon Princess in class tomorrow?" Tang Sanzang asked.

The Black Bear Demon pointed up the mountain, "Of course, when the Bodhisattva lectures, the Dragon Princess obviously follows. Why do you keep asking about her?

Let me tell you, she hardly has a few hairs on her, so don’t even think about plucking them."

Tang Sanzang’s eyes rolled, and he thought, "Great, this guy is just like Sun Wukong!"

Tang Sanzang continued to ask, "Aside from the dragon girl on the mountain, are there other girls... uh, I mean, female demons, fairies or something like that?"

The Black Bear Spirit shook his head, "The Bodhisattva has only a few followers, including the Wealthy Dragon Girl, the Benevolent Pilgrim, and me, whom you have all met. There are also a Golden Haired Bear as a mount and a Carp Spirit King.

However, that Carp Spirit King was killed and eaten by you, so now only I, the dragon girl, Mu Zha, and the Golden Haired Bear remain on the mountain."

Tang Sanzang did not believe the Black Bear Spirit’s words and pointed to the many glittering, golden temples on Mount Putuo, "Just you few need all these temples?"

The Black Bear Spirit shook his head and said, "Ah... you mean those? They all belong to the Bodhisattva! The Bodhisattva has thirty-three Dharma aspects, each aspect manifesting a body, residing in one of those thirty-three temples.

You’ve seen the Willow Guanyin aspect, but there are thirty-two others on the mountain.

There are male forms, female forms, old man forms, young boy forms, young girl forms, heavenly dragon forms, celestial forms, Yaksha forms...

Ah, I can’t explain all at once.

Anyway, I’ve been here a long time and have never seen them all.

I don’t know what the Bodhisattva is thinking, having so many manifestations. Isn’t it bothersome?"

Upon hearing this, Tang Sanzang stroked his chin and said, "That’s where you’re wrong. I remember Nuwa changing seventy times in one day, with seventy different forms, gradually finding the most suitable Dharma aspect for her cultivation and then stopped changing.

This Guanyin Bodhisattva is not simple, she’s already begun to explore the most suitable, most fitting Heavenly Dao for her cultivation."

The Black Bear Spirit exclaimed in amazement, "Elder Tang, you know so much! I had no idea about this. Do you know any specific cultivation methods?"

Tang Sanzang spread his hands, "I can’t remember."

The Black Bear Spirit rolled his eyes, "If you won’t tell, just say so. Why pretend to have forgotten?"

Tang Sanzang shot him a look, "You think I want to forget?"

Tang Sanzang was also frustrated. He could remember some trivial matters, but when it came to relationships and important stuff, he couldn’t recall a thing!

A leg of lamb settled the Black Bear Spirit.

That night, Tang Sanzang didn’t sleep; instead, he grilled the Black Bear Spirit for all information about the dragon girl.

Since he was here, just attending classes would also be boring.

How could attending classes compare to the comfort of flirting?

So, he planned to spend the following days mixing with the dragon girl!

However, what frustrated Tang Sanzang was that the Black Bear Spirit’s knowledge about the dragon girl was not very extensive.

Because he was the Mountain Guardian Deity, specifically guarding the back mountain, he would just squat in the Purple Bamboo Forest there...

And as for the dragon girl, she was the Wealthy Dragon Girl, responsible for dispersing wealth in the human realm and following by the Bodhisattva’s side.

The two interacted too little.

Though they were in the same place during classes, the Black Bear Spirit disliked the dragon girl for being hairless, and the dragon girl disliked the Black Bear Spirit for being too dark and shedding too much, afraid of contagion.

So, their interactions were almost nonexistent.

What little the Black Bear Spirit knew also came from Mu Zha.

Reportedly, the dragon girl was the nineteenth of the "Twenty Celestials," the daughter of the Pojala Dragon King, clever and clever. When she was eight, she happened to hear Manjushri Bodhisattva speak the "Lotus Sutra" in the Dragon Palace, had a sudden realization, comprehended the Buddhist Law, developed a Bodhi mind, then went to Mount Lingjiu to pay homage to the Buddha, and finally entered Mount Putuo where she became a follower under Guanyin Bodhisattva, becoming the Wealthy Dragon Girl.

All information stopped there.

"Elder Tang, you’re not interested in the dragon girl, are you?" The Black Bear Spirit, finally catching on after finishing the meat in his hand, suddenly asked.
