Chapter 31: Chapter 31 Ao Guang is Baffled

However, if Haotian knew what Tian Peng was thinking, perhaps his attitude would have been different.

"We understand!" the Immortal Clans quickly nodded in agreement.

"Eradicating the Demon Clan to bolster prestige– this is targeting Buddhism, isn’t it?" the Immortal Clans thought to themselves, as clear as day.

Still, Tian Peng really was impressive, managing to withstand three strikes from Guanyin, albeit defensively; but in the end, it had been set, hadn’t it?

In particular, the final move, where Guanyin sealed the space and Tian Peng took it head-on, was truly formidable!

Wherever this strange Divine Skill came from, they didn’t know, but they were sure Tian Peng was on the rise!

Speaking of Sun Wukong, he had been staying at Huaguo Mountain for several days, as Chen Nuo had given him an extended leave, so he was in no rush to return.

Even when visiting his kin, Sun Wukong did not relax his practice of Sword Skills.

Clang, clang, clang!

Sun Wukong was slicing fruit when his knife suddenly broke.

"Did I exert too much force when chopping that monkey earlier?" Sun Wukong furrowed his brows as he thought.

Although Six Ears was quite weak, he was not an easy opponent; if it weren’t for the knife being wrapped in Mana, he might not have been able to cut that monkey at all.

But this also meant the kitchen knife couldn’t bear the burden any longer.

Sigh...

Sun Wukong let out a sigh, feeling somewhat melancholic as he walked out of the secret chamber. The kitchen knife he had used for ten years was a gift from his master; how could he not be upset about its ruin?

He wondered if his master would blame him for it.

"Your Majesty, what’s the matter?" a Long-Armed Ape Monkey from Huaguo Mountain, puzzled, quickly approached to ask.

"My weapon is broken," Sun Wukong said, clearly unhappy.

"Broken? That’s great!" The Long-Armed Ape Monkey, upon hearing this, almost leaped for joy.

Sun Wukong gave him a flat look and said, "Oh? You seem rather happy about that?"

"No, no!" The Long-Armed Ape Monkey hurriedly shook his head. Wukong’s recent thrashing of Six Ears was still fresh in his mind, and he quickly explained, "Your servant is just glad to have thought of a solution for you!"

"Oh?" Sun Wukong’s interest was piqued, "Speak up, speak up!"

"This place is the East Sea, and within it is a Dragon Palace where treasures abound in the world. Your Majesty only needs to go and ask for a suitable weapon, wouldn’t that solve the problem?"

Sun Wukong frowned, "Wouldn’t that be incredibly rude?"

Isn’t it impolite to ask for things the moment you meet someone?

"Not at all!" The Long-Armed Ape Monkey waved his hands, "I’ve heard that the Old Dragon King is generous and benevolent; he gives to anyone who asks."

He then told Sun Wukong the exact location of the Dragon Palace.

"I see." Sun Wukong stroked his chin, "The Old Dragon King must be quite wealthy; then I, Old Sun, shall pay a visit!"

With that, he leapt into the sea.

"Finally tricked him into leaving." The Long-Armed Ape Monkey breathed a sigh of relief. These past few days had been quite troubling, with no chance to sleep.

If it was because of him that Buddhism couldn’t continue the Journey to the West, that would be a grave sin.

Meanwhile, Sun Wukong entered the East Sea and, following the route given by the Long-Armed Ape Monkey, arrived at the location of the Dragon Palace.

"Truly wealthy indeed!" Sun Wukong couldn’t help but exclaim as he looked at the splendid gold glinting off the Dragon Palace.

Compared to this, his Huaguo Mountain seemed quite modest, but in his heart, no place was better than his master’s Chaos Residence.

"Who goes there!" Shrimp Soldiers and Crab Generals guarding the entrance of the Dragon Palace stopped Sun Wukong’s advance.

"Old Sun hails from Huaguo Mountain, your Dragon King’s neighbor. I’ve heard that the East Sea Dragon King is generous and benevolent, so I have come to request a hand weapon," said Sun Wukong with a hee-hee smile, his attitude pleasant.

But as soon as he said this, the Shrimp Soldiers and Crab Generals beside him became agitated.

"Nonsense!" A Shrimp Soldier waved his spear.

"Eh..."

Sun Wukong stood there befuddled, like a puzzled monk scratching his head.

"Generous and benevolent my foot, I haven’t been paid my salary in ages!" exclaimed the Shrimp Soldier indignantly.

"What?" The Crab General was also taken aback, "You didn’t get it either?"

"You too?"

The two brethren instantly embraced each other, while Sun Wukong stood by with a speechless expression. Was all this really necessary?

He patted the Crab General’s shell and said, "Get what? Why don’t you take your brother Sun here inside, and I’ll discuss it with you guys later?"

"Thank you, Immortal!" The shrimp soldiers and crab generals couldn’t stop their tears of gratitude.

The Crab General rose to his feet and led Sun Wukong inside.

"To report to the Dragon King, this is the Immortal from Huaguo Mountain, who says he has urgent business with the Dragon King." The Crab General relayed the message and gave Sun Wukong a pleading look before turning away.

"As expected, he has come!" thought the Dragon King to himself.

"May I ask what urgent business brings the Immortal here?"

"I heard that the Dragon King is fond of generosity and likes to give, so I wanted to ask you for a suitable treasure," Sun Wukong said with a grin.

"Fond of generosity? Who told you that?" Ao Guang rolled his eyes, but since Buddhism had already sent a message, he had no choice but to act accordingly.

"Someone, fetch the weapons!" Ao Guang waved his hand, preparing to issue the command.

"Hold on!" Sun Wukong quickly jumped in to stop him, "Your brother Sun doesn’t want ordinary weapons; what I want is a vegetable knife magical treasure."

Upon hearing this, Ao Guang was dumbfounded. A vegetable knife magical treasure? What on earth?

None of the magical treasures were ever specially crafted to be vegetable knives!

"You must be joking, Immortal. Where in the world would you find a magical treasure in the shape of a vegetable knife?" said Ao Guang.

This monkey isn’t playing by the rules at all. Buddhism clearly said to take the Sea-Calming Divine Needle, so why did it turn into a vegetable knife here?

What’s happening!

Sun Wukong couldn’t believe it; wasn’t each item in his master’s Divine Marvel three-piece set a top-notch magical treasure?

Claiming none existed when he himself didn’t have one — no wonder he was behind in paying his shrimp soldiers and crab generals. His credibility wasn’t that great.

Sun Wukong mentally weighed his options for a moment before speaking, "Since the Dragon King has nothing here, your brother Sun will take his leave!"

Having said that, he was about to step away when Ao Guang was utterly baffled.

How could he just leave like that?

"Immortal, please wait!" Ao Guang shouted anxiously. If he didn’t let the monkey take a weapon today, the Dragon Palace wouldn’t get a moment’s peace.

"I still have treasures!"

Ao Guang scurried to Sun Wukong’s side, acting just like a lackey.

"Immortal, please follow me."

After saying that, Ao Guang pulled the monkey toward the direction of the Sea-Calming Divine Needle, not planning to tempt him with the likes of big swords or Square Sky Halberds anymore.

What if he runs away again?

This monkey never played by the usual rules, completely different from what Buddhism had recounted.

Approaching it, Ao Guang pointed to the Pillar of Heaven standing on the coast of the East Sea and said to Sun Wukong, "This is the Sea-Calming Divine Needle left behind by Da Yu during the water control, a treasure accumulated from Acquired Merit Points, weighing thirteen thousand five hundred jin."

"If the Immortal can lift it, then it’s yours to take!" Ao Guang said, wincing yet with a hint of pride.

"This isn’t a vegetable knife either!" Sun Wukong replied indifferently, "I won’t take it!"

After saying so, he turned to leave again, causing the Dragon King to quickly grab hold of him, "Immortal, why not give it a try?"

"Your brother Sun doesn’t need it!"

"Immortal, I beg you, please give it a shot. How will you know if it’s useful without trying?" Ao Guang was almost ready to cling to his legs.

Sun Wukong was feeling a bit embarrassed by all this.

It looked like the Dragon King’s character wasn’t all that bad; at least he was as the Long Armed Ape Monkey had said. It seemed he couldn’t even refuse the offer.

After a further quick once-over, Sun Wukong sighed in resignation. Well, if all else failed, he could always take it back for his master to use as a decorative piece in his shop.
