Journey to the West: Starting by taking Sun Wukong as my disciple!-Chapter 480 Let Nuwa Help
"Shopkeeper, it’s alright, you take them all. Consider it a token of my respect!" Tian Peng didn’t take back the treasures.
Since Chen Nuo had already decided to only take a few, naturally he wouldn’t go back on his word. He waved his hand and pushed the treasures towards Tian Peng, "That’s enough."
"Shopkeeper..." Tian Peng was sincerely anxious and still didn’t dare to take them back.
"This is my fee for helping you. The dishes still require payment after all. Don’t tell me you’re planning on paying for the meals of the diners too?" Chen Nuo had already put the treasures into the Silken Pouch.
Seeing that Chen Nuo had said as much, Tian Peng no longer insisted and put the items back into his Treasure Bag, bowing deeply to Chen Nuo, "Thank you for your help, Shopkeeper."
"Alright, just be careful in the future and do your job well. Don’t get mixed up in all that extraneous stuff again," Chen Nuo waved his hand dismissively. One problem hadn’t been solved yet, and another had already cropped up.
"I’m sorry, Shopkeeper, for causing you trouble," Tian Peng apologized.
Sun Wukong also stood up, "It’s all my fault for not keeping an eye on him. I should apologize to Master as well."
"Enough, both of you, acting as if I’m so petty," Chen Nuo gave them both a glare, "Get going now. I need to think about how to prepare these rabbits. You go on ahead, and remember, focus on your own duties!"
With this incident behind him, Tian Peng surely learned his lesson and wouldn’t cause trouble outside of his duties anymore. After saying goodbye to Chen Nuo together with Wukong, they left Chaos Residence.
"System, give me a complete guide to rabbit recipes," Chen Nuo tapped the system.
"Ding, I’ve found a complete guide to rabbit recipes for you: spicy rabbit head, rabbit eaten cold, dry pot rabbit, hot and spicy rabbit meat, braised rabbit meat, rabbit with hot peppers, rabbit with chili..."
"Alright, alright, stop, I got it," Chen Nuo took a sip of tea, pondering over the ways to prepare rabbit.
There are indeed many ways to prepare rabbit meat, with the most popular being spicy rabbit head and rabbit eaten cold - both great options for main courses or snacks with drinks.
"What’s going on lately? Why is everyone, besides those who go out to buy milk tea, seemingly vanished from the Heavenly Court?"
"Hey, you’ve been away in the mortal world for a few months, you must not have heard; Chaos Residence has introduced a new dish."
"What does introducing a new dish have to do with them not going out?"
"Well, I was about to explain, this dish, you see,"
"It’s unlimited. Shopkeeper Chen from Chaos Residence told us all to eat as much as we can."
"Really? Such good fortune? Why is that? Did they put poison in the dish?"
"How could that be? It seems that Fairy Chang’e’s Guanghan Palace has an overpopulation of rabbits. To solve this problem, Shopkeeper Chen developed new dishes - spicy rabbit head and rabbit eaten cold. They are incredibly delicious, especially as an accompaniment to drinks. Ah, I’m drooling just thinking about it, I’m going to go buy some now."
At Chaos Residence, Chen Nuo was using spells to package the rabbit eaten cold and spicy rabbit heads into takeaway containers. Outside the shop, the Three Demons worked together - two collected money and one handed the packaged food to the queueing Immortal Officials.
Since the intention was to address the rabbit overpopulation at Guanghan Palace, Chen Nuo didn’t impose any restrictions, hoping they would be eaten up quickly.
He underestimated everyone’s appetite for the dish. As soon as the rabbit eaten cold and spicy rabbit heads went on sale, they sold out instantly.
Fortunately, these were marinated dishes, which meant he could prepare a whole day’s worth in one go. These past few days, hardly anyone had ordered anything else at the shop - it was all rabbit purchases. Otherwise, it really would have been a bit too much to handle cooking and packing deliveries at the same time.
The more I try not to think about something, the more it seems to happen. Right at the busiest moment, the takeout orders started picking up.
"Can’t go on like this forever." Even with Chen Nuo’s stamina, keeping up with this pace all day was still exhausting.
It was during this time that Nuwa transmitted a message to Chen Nuo, "Shopkeeper Chen, have you been extremely busy these last few days? Do you need any help?"
Chen Nuo wasn’t a fussy person. With the three others already swamped outside, and him having to manage the rabbit takeout while juggling other orders, it indeed posed a trouble, "It’s been crazy busy lately, so I could really use your help, Lady Nuwa."
No sooner had Nuwa transmitted the message than she arrived at Chaos Residence. Although she had visited a few times, she only knew the way to the lobby, not the kitchen. Just as she began to fret over this, she saw a golden bird flying towards her.
The bird stopped in front of Nuwa, flew a little further, and then waited for her to follow.
Nuwa realized then that Chen Nuo was guiding her, so she followed the golden bird into the kitchen where Chen Nuo was cooking.
Having just sent off a takeout order with a spell, Chen Nuo turned around, saw Nuwa and smiled apologetically, "I’m sorry, you said you wanted to help, but I wasn’t sure if that was just politeness, so I went ahead and called you here."
"Of course, it wasn’t merely out of politeness. When I give my word to help, I mean it," Nuwa hurriedly reassured him.
Chen Nuo moved from the service window to the stove and instructed Nuwa, "Just put the takeout at this window, then channel some mana into it, and it will automatically be transported to the customer who placed the order."
Having seen Chen Nuo send off an order earlier, Nuwa mimicked his actions by placing a takeout box at the window and channelling mana into it.
As expected, the takeout vanished from the window straight away. Nuwa looked back at Chen Nuo, "Shopkeeper Chen, is that how it’s done?"
"That’s right, thank you for the help," Chen Nuo nodded and thanked her.
"It’s not a bother at all. If I can handle it, you go ahead with your work, Shopkeeper Chen," Nuwa said while continuing to channel mana.
Seeing Nuwa getting the hang of it, Chen Nuo placed a bottle of Flat Peach soda beside her and then turned back to the stove to continue cooking.
To address the issue of an overabundance of rabbits, Chen Nuo had suspended dining-in services for several days, only taking takeout orders.
Dining-in orders were initially not that high in volume; most orders were for takeout. Those who dined in either sought him out directly or didn’t want to splurge on a takeout machine.
With in-house dining halted for the past few days, takeout orders had more than doubled, even leading to the sale of several takeout machines.
Chen Nuo actually preferred takeout orders: no need to explain the menu or engage in conversation, just a simple process—pay and take the dish, very convenient.
With Nuwa’s assistance, Chen Nuo felt much more relaxed, focusing just on cooking made his day much less tiring, and he didn’t feel exhausted by closing time.
It wasn’t fitting to treat Lady Nuwa like his regular staff members, whom he could send off with merely a bottle of soda, nor could he pay her a wage.
After all, this was a matter of personal favor; paying her would not really be a reward but an insult.
When Nuwa sent out the last takeout order, Chen Nuo pulled out a stone pot from the Silken Pouch Space, "Lady Nuwa, you’ve been busy all day, and now that the restaurant is closed, I’m not sure how else to thank you. Please allow me to treat you to a new dish from our restaurant."
"A new dish?" Nuwa glanced at the marinated rabbit in the kitchen. "Isn’t the new dish cold rabbit?"
"Oh, that one, strictly speaking, isn’t really a new dish," Chen Nuo said.
