Journey to the West: Starting by taking Sun Wukong as my disciple!-Chapter 602 - 601: Asking Tian Peng for Help
Marshal Tian Peng felt deeply distressed at such a sight, understanding that any person with a sense of responsibility would find the distress of the citizens unbearable.
He sighed, unsure of how to resolve such a circumstance, pitying that he had other matters to attend to.
Since the royal court was already intervening, there was no need for him to stay.
"Marshal Tian Peng, please wait!"
Just as Tian Peng was about to turn and leave, a voice called out to him.
This title was so archaic that for a moment Tian Peng didn’t realise it was directed at him.
"Marshal Tian Peng, Marshal, please wait!" Seeing that Tian Peng didn’t move, the person who called out hurriedly repeated it, this time grabbing his shoulder.
"Who are you?" Tian Peng turned around and saw an old man with white hair dressed in camel-colored clothes, wearing a hair crown on his head. Although he was old, he certainly didn’t look like an ordinary human.
"I am the God of Fortune of this place," the old man said, "I saw you from afar earlier, thought you looked familiar, but didn’t dare to recognize you."
"You just passed by me, and I recognized you by your presence, it really is you. What happened, you have the time to wander here? And even disguised like this?"
It appeared that the God of Fortune was unaware of his demotion. However, since he didn’t know, Tian Peng felt no need to tell him, especially now as he was avoiding other immortals. It was better to say a few words and depart.
"Yes, I’ve got something to do, so I’ll be going now." After speaking, Tian Peng prepared to leave on his horse.
"Marshal, please wait a moment," the God of Fortune quickly stopped Tian Peng.
"What is it? Is there something else?" Tian Peng asked.
"You saw our plight. Could you perhaps help an old man out? I’m really at a loss with these strange insects. They suddenly appeared; they’re not the result of a demon’s trickery, but they’re living creatures, and I cannot deal with them."
The God of Fortune was equally troubled by these strange insects, which, being living beings and not evil spirits, he couldn’t deal with.
The strange insects were highly prolific and resilient, making them very difficult to manage.
"You want my help?" Tian Peng couldn’t deal with them either; he was now mortal, and found these creatures disgusting, let alone being of help—even if he could, he didn’t want to.
"Yes, I wouldn’t be asking if I hadn’t run into you. You are Marshal Tian Peng after all; you must have a way to help an old man, right?" The God of Fortune looked at him with hopeful eyes.
Tian Peng sighed, unsure of how to respond. He couldn’t say he wasn’t an immortal and therefore couldn’t deal with the situation, but he also didn’t want to outright refuse.
"Well, I usually just manage the Milky Way, I’ve never dealt with these things, I don’t even know how to handle them," said Tian Peng, hoping the Local Deity would get the hint that he wanted to refuse.
But unfortunately, the God of Fortune, seeing Tian Peng, clung to him like a lifeline, showing no intention of letting go.
"Marshal Tian Peng, I really have no other option. If you could help me, I would surely repay you in the future," the God of Fortune said.
Tian Peng hadn’t expected that he would just happen to pass in front of the Land Temple and be recognized by the God of Fortune.
Previously at the Chaos Residence, few Immortal Officials could recognize him, and yet here was a Land Deity, who had never even seen him, let alone knew of his demotion to the mortal realm, recognizing him.
"Land Deity, it’s not that I don’t want to help you, but I am truly unable to," Tian Peng said.
"How can this be? Surely you must have a way," the God of Fortune said. "If even you can’t help, I will have no choice but to appeal to His Majesty."
Upon hearing this, Tian Peng hesitated. If the Land Deity sought help from the Jade Emperor, then the Jade Emperor would learn of his whereabouts.
"Who knows, maybe they’ll even catch me and make me reincarnate again, no way, I didn’t climb this far just to be dragged back now."
God of Fortune had already turned around, disappointed, ready to say goodbye to Marshal Tian Peng, but Marshal Tian Peng stopped him.
"Land Deity, wait a moment."
"What is it, Marshal? Are you going to help me?" God of Fortune asked cheerfully.
Marshal Tian Peng sighed, "Well, don’t bother the Jade Emperor with this, I’ll give it a try."
"With Marshal Tian Peng here, I’m sure this can be resolved quickly. There’s no need to go to His Majesty the Jade Emperor," said God of Fortune immediately.
Marshal Tian Peng didn’t call his bluff but simply nodded, "However, I’m only agreeing to this for now. As for how to solve it, I haven’t figured it out yet. I’ll go back and think about it, so please, Land Deity, wait a few more days."
The Land Deity waved his hand, "I’ve waited so many days, of course, I won’t mind another day or two. Since you’ve agreed to help me, you certainly won’t let me down."
"Of course not," replied Marshal Tian Peng. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
After leaving the Land Deity, Marshal Tian Peng sighed, berating himself for not being careful and running into the Land Deity.
Now that he had taken on the matter, he had to face it bravely, but as for who would solve the problem...
Marshal Tian Peng took out a Spirit Stone from his Silken Pouch and crushed it, feeling the Spiritual Power fill his body, then he set off for Chaos Residence.
"Mr. Monkey, I need your help with something."
It was noon at Chaos Residence, and Sun Wukong was about to take his midday rest when Marshal Tian Peng suddenly showed up, stopping him from closing the door.
"Yo, I was wondering who it was. Isn’t this our awe-inspiring Marshal Tian Peng, what a rare guest," teased Sun Wukong.
Marshal Tian Peng sighed again, "Mr. Monkey, don’t make fun of me, I’ve got something serious."
Seeing that Marshal Tian Peng had something to ask him, Sun Wukong straightened up and asked, "What’s the matter? Did something happen in the mortal world to have you so flustered?"
"I’m not flustered. It’s just the thought of those things that gives me the chills," said Marshal Tian Peng.
His words were so out of the blue that Sun Wukong had no idea what he was talking about, "What are you talking about, man? You need to speak clearly, what do you mean by that?"
"There’s this kind of insect in the mortal world that appeared out of nowhere, and now that whole area is swarming with those strange insects. They look so disgusting that just seeing them makes my skin crawl."
Great, Marshal Tian Peng had his quirks again.
Sun Wukong’s expression shifted from curiosity to boredom before Marshal Tian Peng finally explained the whole situation clearly.
"Are they really that terrifying?" Sun Wukong wasn’t very concerned, "They aren’t demons or anything, what’s so scary about that? Don’t tell me you’ve been in the human realm so long you’ve started acting like a mortal?"
"Mr. Monkey, the thing is I am a mortal now," Tian Peng explained.
Sun Wukong had forgotten this detail and made a face before saying, "Then why didn’t you bring one of those strange insects with you when you came? I’d like to see for myself how disgusting an insect can be to scare even you."
"Exactly, Mr. Monkey, they are truly revolting. I can’t even think about it without feeling sick," Tian Peng said.
"You really should go and see for yourself. Anyway, the village is full of these insects. I can’t stand it, and neither can the Land Deity. That’s why he turned to me for help."
"Marshal, I think you’ve handled this very poorly," Sun Wukong lectured, "Being mortal now, you should know your limits. I thought you had grown more prudent, but it turns out you haven’t changed a bit from before."
