Journey to the West: Starting by taking Sun Wukong as my disciple!-Chapter 714 - 713: Xiong Daoren Encounters the Fake Wukong
"I’ll take one!" Xiong Daoren immediately said.
Although the dish didn’t look too appealing, if the price was low and the quantity was substantial, then it really might be worth a try.
Since it was a Chaos Residence product, none of them tasted bad; regardless of its appearance, if the flavor was good, it was supreme.
"Okay, note down your own order. I’ll look at it after I’ve copied down these dishes," Sun Wukong said.
"Eh, okay." Xiong Daoren thus took up a pen and began copying down from the menu.
After Sun Wukong had dealt with the dishes, Xiong Daoren had already been waiting for a long time.
Sun Wukong washed his hands clean, took the menu that Xiong Daoren had copied, "Spicy crayfish, braised pork, stir-fried pork with chili, boiled fish, all stir-fried dishes, eh? They’re pretty easy to make. Alright, you just worry about the payment, and wait for my notification."
Xiong Daoren hurriedly expressed his thanks, "Alright, Mr. Monkey, I got it. Then I’ll be heading out now."
"Wait a minute," Sun Wukong called out to Xiong Daoren, "I seem to have heard you mention that you’ve recently acquired some treasure?"
"What is this treasure? Would you be interested in letting me take a look? I really want to know what kind of treasure could warrant you going to such great lengths to hold a Buddhist Robe Assembly."
"It’s not some incredibly amazing treasure." Xiong Daoren wrung his hands, looking at Sun Wukong’s gaze with a bit of fear that Sun Wukong might come up with some reason to take it away.
"Not an incredibly amazing treasure, but it must have a name at least." Sun Wukong chuckled, "You’re so afraid of me finding out what it is. Could it be that you’re afraid I’ll take it away from you?"
Xiong Daoren’s expression showed difficulty, but since Sun Wukong had already brought it up, it wouldn’t do to remain silent.
"You know, it’s nothing rare. I just happened to get my hands on a treasure Kasaya. This Kasaya is brimming with spiritual power; I’ve lived for so long and have never seen anything so powerful."
"A Kasaya?" Sun Wukong didn’t understand what was so special about a Kasaya, "That thing, no matter how powerful it is, how powerful can it really be?"
Xiong Daoren was worried Sun Wukong might take interest in it, but hearing that Sun Wukong wasn’t interested, he quickly said, "Indeed, it’s nothing rare, nothing much to look at."
He finished speaking and was about to leave, but Sun Wukong had already noticed his odd behavior and stopped him.
"Wait, even though I’m genuinely not interested in that Kasaya, now that I’ve heard what you said, I’ve become a little curious."
"Oh no, Wukong, that Kasaya is a treasure I obtained with great difficulty," Xiong Daoren said, "I was thinking of using it to aid in becoming an immortal."
"What’s so good about becoming an immortal?" Sun Wukong said disdainfully, "Besides, what are you afraid of if you’re living honestly? I just said I wanted to see what it is. I didn’t say I wanted to take it. Look at you; you’re making me, Old Sun, seem like a bad guy."
Xiong Daoren thought to himself that this was just Sun Wukong’s character, but he didn’t dare to voice it out loud, only explaining, "I actually don’t think being an immortal is all that good either. It’s not as carefree as living in the Chaos Residence."
"But I don’t want to stay at the Chaos Residence forever as a demon. I want to shed my demon status, and naturally, the only way is by becoming an immortal through cultivation."
Sun Wukong thought what he said made sense and didn’t press the matter any further, simply saying, "Alright then, I don’t care if you want to become an immortal or remain a demon, I’m just really curious about your treasure."
"Since you’ve already asked me to cook for you, this is perfect. Once I’ve finished cooking, you won’t need to come over to get it. I’ll deliver it directly to you. How does that sound?"
Xiong Daoren didn’t think this was particularly good, but he couldn’t refuse either, so he could only force a smile and say, "Oh, that would be very nice indeed."
"Great, that’s truly excellent. If you don’t have anything else to do, you should go back and get ready. In a few days, when the Buddhist Robe Assembly begins, I will definitely bring a multitude of dishes to participate," said Sun Wukong, patting Xiong Daoren on the shoulder.
"Alright, then I’ll wait for Wukong to come," replied Xiong Daoren with a dry smile, and then he left Chaos Residence.
After Xiong Daoren had left, Sun Wukong began giving instructions to Sha Wujing, "I’ll be going to the Buddhist Robe Assembly in a few days, and I’ll be back soon after. If anyone comes while I’m away, tell them we’re temporarily closed."
Sha Wujing nodded, "Okay, I got it."
After finishing with the instructions, Sun Wukong left, humming a tune.
He kept thinking about what the Buddhist Robe Assembly was all about and who he might meet there. But since he was going, he certainly wanted to show strong support for his brothers.
After returning, Xiong Daoren was filled with regret. He thought that he had merely sought out Sun Wukong to cook a meal, but if he ended up losing a treasure in the process, it would really not be worth it.
But then he reconsidered; Sun Wukong didn’t seem like that sort of person. Besides, the kasaya was the main focus of the Buddhist Robe Assembly, and though Sun Wukong did things his own way, he wasn’t unreasonable.
The more he thought about it, the more he convinced himself he was right; he didn’t need anyone to counsel him, he managed to console himself.
Feeling delighted once again, he took the kasaya out to admire it, liking it more and more, even to the point of wanting to drape it over himself. Suddenly, there was an announcement from outside.
The first thing Xiong Daoren did was to stash the kasaya away, then he asked, "What’s all the fuss about?"
"My lord, there’s a hairy monkey outside looking for you," his subordinate said somewhat frantically to Xiong Daoren, "That hairy monkey is this tall, can speak human language, and keeps saying he wants to see you but won’t say why. We tried to stop him, and he said if we did, he would just come in by himself."
"A hairy monkey?" As soon as his subordinate mentioned a hairy monkey, his heart skipped a beat. Could it be? Hadn’t he just come back from Chaos Residence?
Even if Sun Wukong was hasty, he wouldn’t agree to wait a few days to inspect the treasure only to turn around and immediately come asking for things.
"Yes, a hairy monkey. You should come out to see, my lord," said the subordinate.
"Alright, I’ll go have a look," said Xiong Daoren, straightening his clothes hurriedly before rushing outside.
As soon as he stepped out of the door, he indeed saw the familiar face. He hastily said, "Wukong, are you looking for me for some reason? I had just left and here you are right after."
"What Wukong? Don’t try to get chummy with me, you demon. I certainly don’t know you," retorted the Six-Eared Macaque, puzzled as he looked at the Black Bear Demon warmly calling him Wukong, though he had never met him before.
"What’s wrong, Wukong? What’s happening?" Xiong Daoren found ’Sun Wukong’s’ demeanor strange, and seeing his angry face, he was somewhat startled. Had he inadvertently offended him during his visit to Chaos Residence?
"I said, I don’t know you, you demon," the Six-Eared Macaque repeated.
Xiong Daoren felt very strange inside because he didn’t like being called a demon, and even at Chaos Residence, they never called him anything like that.
