Journey to the West: Starting by taking Sun Wukong as my disciple!-Chapter 749 - 748: Is the Wind-Calming Pill Fake?
The Six-Eared Macaque snorted coldly, "Demon, do you really think that after being tricked by you once, I would fall for it a second time?"
"Really?" The Yellow Wind Demon didn’t believe a word the Six-Eared Macaque said, thinking the monkey was just boasting. So, he laughed and said, "Well, I would like to see how you plan to defeat me."
The Six-Eared Macaque got the Wind-Calming Pill ready, waiting for the Yellow Wind Demon to strike again.
The Yellow Wind Demon puffed up his cheeks and blew towards the Six-Eared Macaque.
In an instant, a yellow wind rose, filled with copious amounts of sand. This sand was not ordinary; it scraped the skin like tiny knives when it blew against it.
If it got into the eyes, it would result in a situation like the Six-Eared Macaque’s–the eyes would be completely unable to open, teary and in ceaseless pain, requiring special medicine to cure. Otherwise, one would remain blind.
The Six-Eared Macaque was not the least bit flustered. He took out the Wind-Calming Pill and faced the oncoming sand.
Seeing the Wind-Calming Pill, the Yellow Wind Demon was stunned for a moment. "You, what is that thing?"
"Exactly, you’re not mistaken, this is the Wind-Calming Pill. I’ve borrowed it from Lingji Bodhisattva," the Six-Eared Macaque said with a smile. "How about it, are you scared now?"
The Yellow Wind Demon stared at the Wind-Calming Pill—if it wasn’t really from Lingji Bodhisattva, one wouldn’t know that his weakness was the Wind-Calming Pill.
The monkey’s words were most likely true, but still, he found it hard to believe, so he puffed up his cheeks and blew ferociously at the Six-Eared Macaque again.
Holding the Wind-Calming Pill in front of him, the Six-Eared Macaque watched the incoming sands suddenly stop right before him. Overjoyed that it indeed worked, he took a step forward, preparing to launch an attack on the Yellow Wind Demon.
The Yellow Wind Demon, seeing the sand stop before the Six-Eared Macaque, was shaken. It was indeed true; what he held was the Wind-Calming Pill, no mistake. Damn, he managed to bring out the Wind-Calming Pill; did that mean there was no chance of victory for him now?
Unfortunately, the Six-Eared Macaque’s joy didn’t last long, nor did the Yellow Wind Demon’s dismay.
The storm brought by the Yellow Wind Demon hadn’t ceased, and for some reason, the Wind-Calming Pill suddenly stopped working. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
The sky full of sand poured down on the Six-Eared Macaque, quickly lacerating his body with small cuts. Sand got into his eyes as well, leaving him unable to see anything.
What’s going on? Isn’t this the Wind-Calming Pill? Why has it suddenly stopped working?
With his eyes shut, the Six-Eared Macaque could see nothing, half-buried in the yellow sand, his calls to heaven unanswered, his pleas to earth unheard.
Seeing the Six-Eared Macaque in this state, the Yellow Wind Demon laughed uproariously to the sky. "Haha, bringing a fake Wind-Calming Pill to flaunt in my face, huh? Well, now look at you. Minions, come out, tonight we feast not only on Tang Monk’s flesh but you’ll also get a taste of this monkey’s flesh!"
Anger consumed the Six-Eared Macaque. Why had the Wind-Calming Pill, given to him by Lingji Bodhisattva, suddenly stopped working?
The Yellow Wind Demon, seeing the Six-Eared Macaque in this state, was sure the monkey had no chance of escape. Without giving another glance at the Six-Eared Macaque, he turned back toward his cave abode.
His underlings emerged from the cave, chuckling and about to drag the Six-Eared Macaque out of the sandpile when suddenly a puff of white smoke appeared and whisked the Six-Eared Macaque away.
As the Six-Eared Macaque was waiting for the lesser demons to take him away, he felt his body lighten and found himself placed on a flat surface.
What’s going on here? It seemed like just a moment ago I was in front of the Yellow Wind Demon’s cave abode, and now, in the blink of an eye, it’s as if I’m in a different place. It’s so strange. Could this be another spell of that monster?
"Am I dead?" a voice asked.
The Six-Eared Macaque found the voice somewhat familiar; it seemed to be the person who had applied medicine to him yesterday. It looked like he wasn’t a mortal, but rather someone sent from above to aid him.
"No, I’m not dead," the Six-Eared Macaque said. "Are you an immortal or from Buddhism?"
"You don’t need to worry about that," Chen Nuo replied. "I really didn’t expect that Yellow Wind Demon to be so formidable."
"You know about that monster?" Six Ears began a question, then suddenly felt as if he were stating the obvious.
Of course the other party knew about the Yellow Wind Demon; otherwise, he wouldn’t have come to rescue him.
Then he asked further, "That Wind-Calming Pill was given to me by Lingji Bodhisattva. He said it could stop the Yellow Wind Demon’s sandstorm. But for some reason, when I held the pill, it only stopped the Yellow Wind Demon for a moment, and then it was no longer effective."
Chen Nuo chuckled. It was originally his doing, having blocked the mana of the Wind-Calming Pill, so that he could promote his own magic artifacts.
"Lingji Bodhisattva probably didn’t foresee the Yellow Wind Demon being so powerful. That Wind-Calming Pill was just a basic one, but since the Yellow Wind Demon is a four-star demon, it’s normal for a basic Wind-Calming Pill to be ineffective against a four-star," Chen Nuo talked nonsense with his eyes open.
Yet, Six-Eared Macaque didn’t doubt Chen Nuo at all. Angry, he said, "That Lingji Bodhisattva, really too much, fooling me with such a trifle!"
Chen Nuo patted Six Ears on the shoulder, "Lingji Bodhisattva didn’t expect the Yellow Wind Demon to be so strong either, don’t blame him."
"My master is still inside the monster’s cave abode. How can I not be angry? If I had arrived later, my master would have been eaten by that monster down to his bones!" Six Ears said furiously.
"Speaking of which, Spiritual Qi Bodhisattva really didn’t consider this. If something happened to my master, it would all be his fault!"
"Alright, give me that Wind-Calming Pill. I will return it to Lingji Bodhisattva later," Chen Nuo said casually.
"Why should I give it to you?" Six Ears couldn’t comprehend.
Although this person had helped him and the Wind-Calming Pill wasn’t useful, after all, it had been given to him by Lingji Bodhisattva. Even if he were to return it, he should return it to Lingji Bodhisattva himself. How could he give it to someone else?
Chen Nuo had originally thought that since the Wind-Calming Pill was ineffective, asking Six Ears for it would just be a matter of speaking out, not expecting the Six-Eared Macaque to be so vigilant as to still refuse to give it.
"What are you afraid of? It’s just a basic Wind-Calming Pill. Am I going to pocket it?" Chen Nuo said with annoyance in his voice.
Six Ears picked up on the annoyance, but that didn’t make him give up the Wind-Calming Pill.
"It’s not that I suspect you’ll pocket it; it’s just that the Wind-Calming Pill was given to me by Lingji Bodhisattva. When I borrowed it, he told me to remember to return it after use. Even if it’s useless, I need to return it to Lingji Bodhisattva myself, not through someone else," Six Ears spoke, "By the way, about my eye, wasn’t there a medicine you found that cured it with just a drop? Could you treat my eye first? It’s quite uncomfortable to keep them closed like this."
"You don’t trust me, and now I still have to treat your eye? Do I look like I have nothing better to do?" Chen Nuo said displeased.
