Chapter 752: Chapter 751 Making Pastries

Sun Wukong, with no other choice, picked up the plate beside him and passed it to Chen Nuo, "During such a long time, disciple has only managed to make this little."

Chen Nuo made a rough count; there seemed to be only a few dozen items on the plate, not yet a hundred. But considering that not even one hour had passed, it was acceptable.

At least it was more than he had expected. He believed that once Sun Wukong truly mastered the skill, he would definitely make great progress.

"Keep practicing," Chen Nuo patted Sun Wukong on the shoulder, "To be honest, it’s more than I expected." 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

Sun Wukong’s previously downcast expression instantly brightened up because of this phrase, "Really, Master?"

"Why would I deceive you?" Chen Nuo said with a smile, "Go on, strive to finish these ten dishes."

"Master, rest assured, I will definitely work hard!"

Sure enough, encouragement worked wonders. After Sun Wukong spoke those words, he turned his head and went back to threading bean sprouts, this time with much better technique than before, hardly breaking any; it was a one-shot success.

Chen Nuo figured he was free at the moment, so why not make desserts? His current efforts were all for the sake of opening a dessert shop, and now he had to work even harder on making desserts.

When he arrived at the dessert room, Chen Nuo remembered that when the sweet shop was newly repaired, he had made all the classic desserts, so much so that now, wanting to make some desserts, he didn’t know which one would be good to make.

Chen Nuo flipped through the dessert compendium and still couldn’t think of anything, so he decided he would have to be innovative.

With an abundance of chocolate at hand, Chen Nuo thought about making a dessert with chocolate. When he actually started, it suddenly occurred to him that there was a trendy dessert in modern times called the Dirty Bun.

As the name suggests, the Dirty Bun looks dirty and makes quite a mess when you eat it. No matter how dignified and graceful a person is, eating a Dirty Bun always leaves traces of black all over.

The "dirty" in the Dirty Bun actually comes from the chocolate used in it.

The very bottom layer is a chocolate croissant dough. After making the croissant dough, the entire surface is drenched with a layer of melted chocolate, then topped with a thick layer of cocoa powder.

It’s the combination of chocolate liquid and cocoa powder that gives it the dirty appearance. The croissant dough underneath is chewy, not easy to cut like cake, and must be eaten by hand, which is why it’s inevitably messy.

Although he knew that those fairies were very conscious of their outward appearance, he wondered if they would choose dignity or delicious food when given the choice.

Imagining that scene, Chen Nuo eagerly went ahead and completed the entire series of Dirty treats.

Dirty Bun, Dirty Daifuku, Dirty Layer Cake, Dirty Cake, and the like; all were made, with Chen Nuo looking upon the array of chocolate treats with satisfaction.

While his hands were satisfied, his heart was not. Chen Nuo was simply bursting with impatience to see others eating them.

But thinking of his disciples and helpers, who all ate in the same way and were stalwart men of iron, watching them eat these items wouldn’t be a delightful sight. After some contemplation, Chen Nuo decided to call for outside help.

The outside help he thought of was Nuwa.

Nuwa was resting at her mansion at that time, initially calculating that it had not been long since she had eaten at Chen Nuo’s place, and wondering how long it would be before she could visit again.

She had originally hoped for some alone time with Chen Nuo, but ended up bringing along a bird, and even encountered her love rival, leading to a quarrel over mounts with the rival, which upset Chen Nuo. The more she thought about it, the more regret she felt.

Nuwa had been thinking about when she could make up for that awkward situation, counting the days until she could go back to Chaos Residence and see Chen Nuo again. As she calculated, she unexpectedly received a Divine Skill message from Chen Nuo.

Chen Nuo said she had just perfected a new dessert and invited her over to taste it. How could she refuse such an offer? She hurriedly rose from the Imperial Concubine’s Couch, got dressed, and prepared to head to Chaos Residence.

Since it was Chen Nuo herself who invited her, and she didn’t mention anyone else, wasn’t this essentially a date?

Staring at the various pitch-black desserts in front of her, Nuwa admitted to herself that she was more than momentarily stunned.

What did this mean, these desserts, why were they all so dark?

The last time she was here, the array of desserts was so delicately shaped that her fondness for sweets even briefly surpassed her appreciation for Chen Nuo’s cooking.

Now, facing these dark desserts, her fondness felt like it had plummeted from the clouds. Could someone tell her if these were really desserts? They looked more like black mud.

Even though she knew they must taste good, their appearance was, to put it mildly, indescribable.

Nuwa struggled to control the expression on her face as she asked, "Shopkeeper Chen, are these, desserts?"

"Yes, they’re a new series I’ve just created." Chen Nuo smiled, looking at Nuwa, hoping to see an excited expression on her face.

Nuwa forced a smile, thinking to herself, ’Why did I just detect a hint of anticipation for praise in Shopkeeper Chen’s tone?’ How could she possibly give praise without feeling guilty?

But she couldn’t really resist Chen Nuo’s expectant gaze. After pondering for a while, she finally squeezed out a few words, "These desserts, they sure are unique."

"They are quite unique, aren’t they?" Chen Nuo hadn’t noticed the real implication behind Nuwa’s words. He thought she was sincerely complimenting them.

"I was just about to make some sweets when I suddenly noticed the chocolate on the side, and was inspired to create these."

What kind of stroke of genius would it take to come up with such an idea, Nuwa wondered, but because of her pride and the fact that this was her beloved, she found it hard to voice her internal criticism.

So she asked, "Then Shopkeeper Chen, what are these desserts called?"

"Now you’ve asked the right question," Chen Nuo said with a smile. "This series is called the Dirty Series. It includes the Dirty Bun, Dirty Cake, Dirty Daifuku, and so on."

Indeed, what a fitting name; the appearance of these desserts matched their names quite well.

Nuwa smiled again, gearing up to make some insincere compliment, when Chen Nuo suddenly produced a paper bag.

"What’s this?" Nuwa asked curiously, noting that the shape of the bag seemed strangely familiar.

Chen Nuo slowly opened the bag to reveal a cup of murky milk tea inside, its sides also streaked with dark smudges. He introduced it with growing confidence.

"This is a milk tea I thought would pair perfectly with this series, the Dirty Milk Tea."

Nuwa nearly applauded, marveling at the kind of thought process that could conjure up this idea—a whole table full of unappetizing desserts and milk tea.

Chocolate is tasty, yes, but its color is indeed very similar to soil, especially when not eaten in large quantities.

Seeing the chocolate, her first thought still reverted to soil, so Nuwa wasn’t exactly drooling over the expansive spread before her.
