Journey to the West: Starting by taking Sun Wukong as my disciple!-Chapter 782 - 781: Come Back Again
Chen Nuo raised his eyebrows, having already suppressed most of his appearance and energy. Unexpectedly, such a conclusion was still drawn. He touched his own face, wondering if it was because he had never used Facial Transformation Skills before and thus hadn’t quite mastered them at this attempt. He should have just used his Shape-shifting Skills from the start.
"I’m already aware of what happened in the Demon Cave. Indeed, we had considered the possibility of the Third Princess being captured by the demon. We’ve employed many Taoists and Mages, managing only to learn the general area of my daughter’s location but not her precise whereabouts. Moreover, they’ve all said the demon’s mana is formidable. Even with all the Mages I’ve summoned combined, they couldn’t do anything to him."
Upon hearing this, Six Ears felt that there was an underlying message, but he couldn’t grasp what it was or what the king intended to do. Perhaps it was just some words of gratitude. It’d be best to leave quickly and not linger here any longer.
As the king of Treasure Elephant Kingdom spoke, tears of excitement welled up in the corners of his eyes. "Thank goodness, Elder Tang said his disciple is powerful. This great weight upon my heart has finally lifted."
Six Ears shivered and then looked at Xuanzang in disbelief. Wasn’t it said earlier that it was just a matter of delivering a letter? What was this about now? Could it be that the king expected him to go and Subdue Demons?
Xuanzang brought his palms together and bowed, declaring, "The princess saved my life before. In both emotion and reason, this is something we ought to do."
"Something we ought to do?" Six Ears replied bluntly. "Do you mean we have to go and subdue a demon?"
"Precisely," said Xuanzang. "Although our mission is to Journey to the West for Scriptures, this demon is indeed detestable. The Third Princess of Treasure Elephant Kingdom saved my life without regard for her own. As my disciples, don’t you think it’s your duty to fully fulfill your roles?"
Six Ears felt cornered by Xuanzang’s words and found himself at a loss for what to say next. Indeed, if he didn’t help, he might end up facing a lecture from Xuanzang about his indifference and disregard for the kindness of others. Moreover, he couldn’t avoid the Tightening-Crown Spell. Having experienced it once, he knew the torment was unbearable—worse than death itself. There was no choice; his master had spoken and his words had to be obeyed, or else he would face the consequences.
"Master is right. Since the Third Princess of Treasure Elephant Kingdom saved your life, it’s certainly my duty to go and Subdue Demons," Six Ears said with a forced smile.
The king of Treasure Elephant Kingdom didn’t notice the odd behavior of Six Ears; or perhaps, even if he did, he wouldn’t have mentioned it. After all, it was about rescuing his daughter. What did the willingness or reluctance of the rescuer matter as long as his daughter could be saved? That was a more pressing matter than anything else.
"That is truly excellent news. If that’s the case, then perhaps you could set off right now," the king of Treasure Elephant Kingdom suggested.
Six Ears picked up his weapon, ready to set off, when suddenly someone called out to him.
"Wait a moment."
Turning around, Six Ears realized it was Chen Nuo who asked, "What’s the matter, is there an issue?"
"I think," Chen Nuo started, "that rushing off right now is rather reckless."
Six Ears didn’t quite understand why Chen Nuo would say that. Catching demons was straightforward, wasn’t it? What else could one do? "Young Master, what do you mean by reckless? It’s not that I can’t defeat that demon, rather its subordinates are quite numerous and I haven’t fought them off. If it were a one-on-one fight, who knows who would win or lose," he said.
Even if it comes to a duel, the two of them could barely be considered evenly matched, isn’t it? Plus, that Exquisite Inner Alchemy is a healing system Magic Artifact; when it comes down to endurance, Six-Eared Macaque stands no chance against that person.
"You’re definitely not up to it in your current state. If you could truly beat that demon, Elder Tang and I would undoubtedly have been rescued by you; would there have been any need for the princess to lend a hand?" Chen Nuo said without any courtesy.
Six-Eared Macaque was at a loss for words after what Chen Nuo said; it seemed to make sense indeed. Just thinking about the fight earlier, he truly couldn’t overpower that demon. Though he wasn’t defeated, after fighting for a while, he was already struggling, and if he hadn’t seen Xuanzang and Chen Nuo already rescued at that moment, he really couldn’t have held on for much longer.
"Well, you do have a point, but brawn is all I have; I’m clueless about anything else," said Six-Eared Macaque with a sense of helplessness. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Chen Nuo chuckled, "So why do you think Bodhisattva Guanyin asked me to accompany you? Could it possibly be because I’m good-looking?"
After thinking it over, Six-Eared Macaque realized that’s right; Bodhisattva Guanyin invited this person to join them because of his clever mind. He must have figured that, with his master Geng Zhi and him only knowing how to fight, the team still needed someone who could use their brain. So now, he’s the one who’s here.
"Indeed, young master, have you already thought of a plan?" Looking at Chen Nuo’s confident smile, Six-Eared Macaque felt certain he must have come up with a way to rescue the princess. Of course, Chen Nuo hadn’t yet figured it out, but if it were to be handled, it would be quite simple; this was still the early stages of the Journey to the West, and these demons weren’t particularly bright. Therefore, dealing with them was a straightforward matter.
The king, despite his urgent desire for his daughter, also understood that impatience would lead to trouble. If he insisted on haste, he wouldn’t be able to solve any problems, so they had no choice but to stay there that night.
The next day, Chen Nuo had already come up with a plan. He left Xuanzang alone in the Treasure Elephant Kingdom, while he and Six-Eared Macaque returned to the territory of Kuimu Wolf.
Upon their arrival at the site, the two of them split up to act, one going to the front to call at the mountain gate to attract the demon’s attention, the other heading to the back to find the Third Princess of the Treasure Elephant Kingdom.
After Six-Eared Macaque managed to call out Kuimu Wolf, Chen Nuo took the opportunity to enter the cave abode and found the Third Princess, Baihua Xiu.
At that time, Baihua Xiu, because of the noises outside calling for Kuimu Wolf to come out and fight, suggesting to bring out the princess, was becoming flustered. She was worried that if the newcomer couldn’t defeat Kuimu Wolf, the wolf would truly take its anger out on her, and then she would really be at a loss for words. She was so anxious that she couldn’t sit still, wringing a handkerchief as she paced the room. Just then, she turned around to find Chen Nuo and was startled, then she said, "Ah, you’re that young master, why have you returned?"
"Didn’t you ask us to send a letter to the Treasure Elephant Kingdom? The king saw your letter and hairpin and knew you were here, so we’ve come to rescue you," replied Chen Nuo.
Upon hearing this, Baihua Xiu was overwhelmed with joy and quickly said, "Ah, that’s really wonderful. Let’s set off right away then, before he comes back."
"Don’t rush. Although we’re here to rescue you, we really can’t allow you to leave just yet," Chen Nuo urged, holding Baihua Xiu back.
Baihua Xiu didn’t understand; she was eager to return, and now she was being told she couldn’t. What was the reason for this?
