34: Chapter 34 Journey to the West Cannot Be Started

34 -34 Journey to the West Cannot Be Started

Patriarch Bodhi looked at Sun Wukong with a face full of shock, somewhat disbelieving.

It really seemed as if Sun Wukong knew the Way of Becoming a Saint?

One must know that the current Three Realms are no longer the same as the ancient Primordial Continent, even within the Three Realms those who know the whereabouts of Saints are few, not to mention knowledge of the Method of Becoming a Saint.

However, although Patriarch Bodhi was astonished and amazed right now, Sun Wukong continued to speak on his own, slightly bowing his fists before respectfully addressing Patriarch Bodhi.

“The Three Methods to Become a Saint start with Lawful Dao Certification!”

“As everyone knows, there are three thousand Daoist Techniques of heaven and earth, and by comprehending any one of the Great Dao, one can certify Dao and become a Saint!”

“Second is, Becoming a Saint by Slaying the Three Corpses!”

“In the Ancient Purple Cloud Palace, Dao Ancestor Hongjun once preached, disseminating The Method of Slaying the Three Corpses, to slay the Good Corpse, the Evil Corpse, and the Self Corpse.

By combining the Three Corpses into one, one can achieve Dao and become a Saint!”

“Third is, to certify Dao with merit!”

“It is said that Empress Nuwa became enlightened by creating humans, thus obtaining the merit of creation, and therefore Empress Nuwa took that step and entered into the rank of Hunyuan Wuji Saint!”

Sun Wukong spoke slowly.

All the disciples listened intently to Sun Wukong’s words, to them these were novel insights—they had truly been unaware of these matters, and now Sun Wukong seemed to have opened a grand door for them.

Wang Yang too felt moved within after hearing Sun Wukong’s words, and realized Sun Wukong must have truly been careful, otherwise, he wouldn’t have gone to the Sutra Depository.

Regarding the Method of Becoming a Saint, perhaps not many people knew about it anymore, however, as a Saint’s incarnation, the Sutra Depository within the Dojo naturally contained many ancient texts.

It was just that most people were focused on their cultivation, and unless they could not cultivate further, they would consider studying the scriptures within the Sutra Depository.

If Wukong, who had no prior contact with all this, could have seen the books, let alone being low profile, would have been impossible.

But in reality, everything Wukong had understood was the result of his own realization.

He practiced the Nine-Turn Profound Art, condensed the body of Pangu in his Sea of Consciousness, and connected to all of eternity, otherwise, he couldn’t have so easily allowed his Cultivation Technique to return to its original state and true nature, reaching its peak form.

If he could realize the Cultivation Technique, not to mention understanding how to Achieve Saintliness.

If Hongjun could realize a bit of the Method of Becoming a Saint, naturally Wukong could as well.

It was just that he was born much too late, otherwise if it had been during the times of the Primordial Continent, he surely would have had his own seat of honour.

Listening to Sun Wukong’s words, Patriarch Bodhi’s eyebrows involuntarily knitted together tightly in helplessness.

Sun Wukong not only spoke about the Method of Becoming a Saint, but he also had rationale and evidence.

How could he refute this?

If he were to refute, it would mean bullying the weak.

Of course, he couldn’t refute these Ways of Becoming a Saint, but he could find something else to dispute.

The Way of Becoming a Saint requires Hongmeng Purple Qi, yet Sun Wukong had not mentioned it.

Presumably, Sun Wukong had no knowledge of Hongmeng Purple Qi.

So, he could take this opportunity to challenge Sun Wukong, which although might seem like nitpicking, was unavoidable.

The Calamity of Measurement from Journey to the West was already upon them, and Patriarch Bodhi naturally couldn’t be concerned with that now, only hurrying to send Sun Wukong away to commence the Journey to the West.

Patriarch Bodhi nodded, then said, “What you’ve said is not wrong, but let me ask you one more thing, what is the prerequisite condition for certifying Dao and becoming a Saint?

Under the current rules of heaven and earth, what method could there be to achieve Saintliness?”

As these words were spoken, many disciples frowned.

They could feel that their master seemed to be just trying to trouble Sun Wukong.

They had already forgotten the Method of Becoming a Saint, not to mention any prerequisite conditions that might exist before becoming a Saint.

However, they were after all disciples, so naturally, they did not dare to say much, lest they incur the blame of the Honorable Master.

And indeed, Sun Wukong was stumped.

Under the current rules of heaven and earth, whether or not it was possible to certify Dao and become a Saint again—how could he know such a thing?

Even just stating the Method of Becoming a Saint had already exhausted his wits.

Sun Wukong involuntarily looked towards Wang Yang’s direction.

Wang Yang saw this scene, his expression unchanged, but between his fingers, a thread of purple light circulated.

But in a flash, it had disappeared.

Sun Wukong, having seen this, had a flash of insight.

Actually, during his cultivation with Wang Yang, Sun Wukong had also asked about becoming a saint, and Wang Yang had once spoken of the Hongmeng Purple Qi.

Now, having seen the Hongmeng Purple Qi between Wang Yang’s fingers, his heart stirred.

Immediately, his heart leaped with joy, then he feigned deep thought for a while, before saying, “To report to Honorable Master, this disciple knows little about this matter.

According to the current laws of heaven and earth, it is extremely difficult to certify the Dao and become a saint.

If one seeks to certify the Dao, perhaps it is necessary to recreate heaven and earth from the beginning, establishing new rules.

The prerequisite for becoming a saint is also not simple, it is the Hongmeng Purple Qi!”

“However, since Ancient Chaos, the world has been without Hongmeng Purple Qi.

If there is still any, I’m afraid only the legendary Dao Ancestor Hongjun would know!”

Sun Wukong spoke slowly, hardly resembling someone who wasn’t clear about the matter.

Meanwhile, upon hearing Sun Wukong’s answer, many disciples from the Slanting Moon Three Stars Cave involuntarily took on a serious expression.

They couldn’t imagine that their junior brother, who they did not know to possess such knowledge, apparently knew it all.

Just as these senior brothers felt admiration, Patriarch Bodhi’s brows furrowed deeply.

Since when did this monkey become such a studious learner, and know so much?

“Where did you learn these things?”

Patriarch Bodhi asked with a frown.

Having asked, his gaze involuntarily turned towards Wang Yang’s direction.

After all, since Sun Wukong had entered the Slanting Moon Three Stars Cave, he had always been taught by Wang Yang.

Could it be that Wang Yang told this monkey?

It seemed not impossible.

Seeing Patriarch Bodhi’s reaction, Sun Wukong naturally took note; he did not want to implicate his senior brother.

Sun Wukong’s expression unchanged, he calmly said, “To inform Ancestor Master, this disciple came to know of these matters from the Sutra Depository!”

“Sutra Depository!”

Sun Wukong nodded; his senior brother had once told him, anything could be attributed to the Sutra Depository, mainly because there was the worry about leaking Cultivation Techniques at the time, he hadn’t expected to use it in this situation.

Upon hearing this, Patriarch Bodhi was startled and a wry smile appeared on his face.

If it was mentioned that it came from the Sutra Depository, then it could make sense, as it contained many Ancient scriptures.

Seeing Sun Wukong’s response, Patriarch Bodhi could only dispel the doubts in his mind.

If this wouldn’t work, it seemed he would have to think of another way.

He then began preaching.

Everyone took the previous Q&A as an interlude and started to listen attentively.

Only Wang Yang and Sun Wukong knew what had just occurred.

After preaching for several hours, Patriarch Bodhi finally ended the preaching.

Everyone dispersed.

Even Wang Yang and Sun Wukong exchanged a glance before leaving separately.

All the disciples also let out a sigh of relief because this time Patriarch Bodhi had not pursued the matter of their tardiness.

Patriarch Bodhi returned to his Meditation Room.

“What is to be done now?

Can Journey to the West not be initiated?”
