Journey to the West: Starting from Changing Sun Wukong's fate-Chapter 55 - Junior Brother Speak Carefully
55: Chapter 55: Junior Brother, Speak Carefully
55 -55: Junior Brother, Speak Carefully
In the Three Realms, the Western Pure Land houses two members of the Phoenix Clan, Kong Xuan and the Golden-Winged Roc King, but apart from them, phoenixes are scarce throughout the realms.
If there are any others, it would only be Empress Nuwa’s mount, the Golden Phoenix.
As for other members of the Phoenix Clan, they’re indeed rare.
And the Qilin Clan is even rarer; throughout the entire Three Realms, there are virtually no renowned qilins of great power.
“Then let me ask you another question,” Wukong continued.
“The Dragon Clan could dominate the Four Seas in ancient times and still does today, right down to every little river.
Do you know why that is?”
Hearing this, Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva was even more surprised and confused: “Why?
When it came to knowledge of the Three Tribes of Dragons, Phoenixes and Qilins, Mahasthamaprapta knew far more than Wukong.
Even though they are all Primordial Tribes, the Phoenix and Qilin clans seem on the verge of extinction, while the Dragon Clan not only survived the Dragon-Phoenix Catastrophe but also the Sorcerers and Monsters Calamity and the Divine Enthronement Calamity.
That they survived three great calamities and remained tepidly active was indeed somewhat abnormal.
At that moment, he truly did not know, but it appeared there really was some secret involved.
After all, to have survived three Calamities and still exist to this day…
While the other two clans have disappeared completely.
Could it be that behind the Dragon Clan there is a powerful entity capable of single-handedly sheltering the dragons, thereby preserving their lineage to this day?
He then turned his gaze to Wukong.
It seemed that Wukong knew something.
Wukong paused before saying, “Clearly, there is a powerful being behind the Dragon Clan that both you and I are unaware of, protecting the dragons, allowing them to last until now!”
Upon hearing these words, Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva had already considered this possibility, and he could not help but agree.
Indeed, this seemed the most logical explanation.
This Dragon Clan has maintained such a deep concealment, playing both Buddhism and Daoist Sect at will.
“It seems this matter must be reported to the two Saints.
Otherwise, there’s no telling what might happen in the future!”
Now that Buddhism is flourishing, it is imperative that no mishaps occur.
Unwittingly, Mahasthamaprapta had forgotten the original purpose of his visit, his mind seemingly trapped in a dreadful conspiracy.
The Dragon Clan had remained hidden for so many years, still concealed now, allowing others to bully them, making all the strong forget the dragons’ former might.
Could their intention be to recapture the title of the foremost clan one day?
Buddhism’s growing influence cannot afford such a massive incident.
With these thoughts, Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva no longer had the inclination to deceive Wukong and immediately his Primordial Spirit left the body.
He had to report his suspicions to the Saints, lest delay worsen matters.
By now, he understood why Wukong was so cautious; clearly, someone had been guiding him.
“It seems that the Three Realms are not as safe as I imagined but are exceedingly dangerous, potentially falling into someone else’s trap at any moment!”
Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva’s Primordial Spirit returned instantaneously to the Western Pure Land.
Thump!
After Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva had left, the monkey he had possessed collapsed to the ground.
“Hmm?
Did he faint from fear?”
Looking at the unconscious monkey, Wukong felt somewhat helpless.
“Now you know why Old Sun has been hiding, don’t you?
If Old Sun went to the Eastern Sea for no reason and angered the entity behind the Dragon Clan, I’m afraid Old Sun would be gone too!”
Wukong sent the monkey back to its own kind and then returned to his own cultivation.
The more he knew, the more he feared.
When he knew nothing, he feared nothing; now, there were too many concerns to contend with.
However, thinking of his senior brother, who knew so much yet showed no signs of it, having seemingly seen through it all, Wukong felt an admiration well up inside him that he could scarcely fathom.
When would he ever be able to reach the realm of his senior brother?
Sun Wukong gazed up at the bright moon above and sighed deeply.
But he also knew that to stand shoulder to shoulder with his senior brother, he still had a very, very long way to go.
Thus, Sun Wukong hurried to continue his cultivation.
He deeply felt how the Three Realms were filled with formidable beings, how insufficient he was, and made up his mind to definitely make something of himself.
Meanwhile, in the Western Pure Land, Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva opened his eyes.
“Bodhisattva, Bodhisattva?”
Upon seeing Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva open his eyes, both the Sunlight Bodhisattva and Moonlight Bodhisattva couldn’t help but ask, wondering what had happened.
“Bodhisattva, Bodhisattva, where are you going?”
However, Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva seemed not to see them at all and walked straight out of the temple.
Seeing Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva behave this way, the Sunlight Bodhisattva and Moonlight Bodhisattva exchanged glances, sensing that perhaps Mahasthamaprapta was much the same as when he had been in the Great Formation.
“Senior brother, what should we do?”
Seeing Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva like this, Moonlight Bodhisattva couldn’t help frowning and said.
They had thought they could trick Sun Wukong with Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva’s machinations, but why had he changed like this upon his return?
“No, we must first ask Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva what happened!”
Sunlight Bodhisattva also frowned and said.
“Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, wake up!”
From the mouth of the Sunlight Bodhisattva came a sound of Buddhist chanting, loud and thunderous.
It was the Great Divine Power of Buddhism, the Makabuddhi Sound.
Makabuddhi Sound.
Like thunder, it exploded in Mahasthamaprapta’s mind, and the chaos that had somewhat engulfed his Sea of Consciousness suddenly cleared.
His eyes shone with brilliant Buddha’s light.
Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva suddenly awoke, surveying his surroundings.
He vividly recalled the words Sun Wukong had said just before; he had been too focused at the time, especially amidst the atmosphere at Mount Huaguo.
He had been persuading Sun Wukong for the future of Buddhism.
However, Sun Wukong said that it might threaten the future of Buddhism, but let’s not forget, if even Sun Wukong could detect this issue, how could the Saints of Buddhism overlook it?
Clearly, he had been too presumptuous at the time.
Now, with the Makabuddhi Sound cleansing his Spiritual Sense, everything became crystal clear in an instant, including the powerful backers behind the Dragon Clan.
This was embarrassing; he had been completely tricked by Sun Wukong.
Even if he were to speak of it, nobody would believe him.
Fortunately, no one was watching him at that moment—but no, he could feel two gazes upon him.
He turned his head and saw Sunlight Bodhisattva and Moonlight Bodhisattva looking at him with an expression of helpless solidarity, just like brothers in distress.
“Fellow Bodhisattvas, this…
sigh…”
There was no need for words; having both suffered under Sun Wukong before, they instantly understood.
Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, seeing the two Bodhisattvas like this, also sighed.
Not much was needed, and although he did not know what the two Bodhisattvas had experienced, evidently it was quite similar to his own.
Moonlight Bodhisattva curiously asked Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, “Bodhisattva, may I know what happened to the macaque?”
But as he posed the question, Sunlight Bodhisattva shook his head at Moonlight Bodhisattva, “Junior brother, be cautious with your words!”
What more was there to ask after all this?
