Chapter 212: Chapter 212: Hell and Asura Realm

All three Bodhisattvas understood that Sun Wukong wasn’t coming to Hell for inspection as he had done previously in Emperor Fengdu’s domain and the Ten Halls of the Underworld.

He would definitely find faults and seek revenge!

This was something they all could foresee.

Just as they were thinking about this, Sun Wukong arrived in Hell with quite an entourage, including some officials and generals from Emperor Fengdu’s domain and the Nine Halls Netherworld Kings whom he had just inspected.

Ksitigarbha had to go out to meet him, and Manjushri and Samantabhadra could only follow, as after all, considering Sun Wukong’s strength and status, they had to comply.

But just as they left the Cuiyun Palace, they didn’t see Sun Wukong; only some ghostly soldiers and messengers were arranged in formation outside of Hell.

Ksitigarbha furrowed his brow and after making some inquiries, found out that the newly appointed Emperor Fengdu had gone straight to Hell.

"This demon monkey knows no propriety at all!" Manjushri expressed displeasure.

Samantabhadra simply shook his head lightly.

As Ksitigarbha King Bodhisattva defended Hell, securing a place for the Buddha Sect in the underworld, it was well known across all three realms that this was the Buddha Sect’s territory.

Sun Wukong’s actions were clearly dismissive of the Buddha Sect.

...

Hell was located at the end of the cycle of reincarnation and was divided into eighteen layers from top to bottom, reminiscent of a deep abyss, where fires of karma blazed and howling demons and wailing spirits underwent their punishments in the various layers of Hell.

Long before the Divine Enthronement calamity, Ksitigarbha had made a great vow not to attain Buddhahood until Hell was empty, an act affirmed by a Saint of the western faith, which led to his taking a seat in the underworld.

Therefore, the Heavenly Court could only appoint him the Underworld Sect Leader, nominally under its jurisdiction.

"Hehe, this really is the typical way of doing things in the Buddha Sect lineage," Sun Wukong remarked sarcastically after listening to the old stories from Yama, the King of Hell, in front of all these Netherworld Kings, officials, and generals.

The other Netherworld Kings, officials, and generals didn’t dare say anything and were even more puzzled about what this emperor intended to do.

Was he looking for issues in Hell to cause trouble for Ksitigarbha King Bodhisattva?

If that were the case, the Underworld might not remain peaceful today.

Next, they proceeded downward through the layers of Hell until they reached the eighteenth layer.

"Nothing above, it seems it really is hidden in the deepest level," Sun Wukong’s eyes shimmered with divine light as he used his "Celestial Power to See through Walls," enabling him to see everything.

During their passage through the previous seventeen layers of Hell, he had discovered nothing.

And according to netizens on Zhihu, the soul of the Jinghe Dragon King was hidden within Hell.

"Hmm? Nothing?" Sun Wukong became puzzled. He had carefully searched the eighteenth layer of Hell and still found nothing.

Could it be that this time the netizens on Zhihu were wrong?

Sun Wukong felt there must be some mistake. The divine light in his eyes swirled again as he used his power to peer through barriers to search once more, even reaching beyond Hell itself.

Seeing this, Yama and the others did not dare to speak and quietly waited on the side.

Suddenly, Sun Wukong’s figure flashed to the end of the eighteenth layer of Hell.

He could see a sea of red karma fires swirling within the eighteenth layer of Hell, and at the end of this sea of fire, there was a dark red world filled with an intense aura of slaughter and brutality—a world clearly not part of Hell.

Yama and the others caught up and provided an explanation.

"Great Emperor, that is the Asura Realm," Yama explained, "The eighteenth layer of Hell connects with the six paths of reincarnation, and so does the Asura Realm, and both have adjacent areas."

Hearing this, Sun Wukong’s nimble eyes shifted as he began to speculate.

He had learned from netizens on Zhihu about the past of Ancestor Ming He, who, like Nu Wa, had once used the power of the Netherworld Blood Sea to create the Asura race.

The Asura Realm had been crafted by Ancestor Ming He relying on the way of the Asura, coexisting with the Underworld in the Netherworld Realm as the homeland for the Asura race.

I never expected the Asura Realm to be located here.

But upon further thought, it made sense.

"Great Emperor, one must not enter the Asura Realm rashly," Yama, the King of Hell, seeing Sun Wukong about to step out of hell, hastily advised him.

"The Underworld is under my control; how could the Asura Realm not be part of the Underworld?" Sun Wukong dropped this remark and then stepped into the Asura Realm.

Immediately, an endless aura of slaughter and brutality surged towards him, trying to affect his mind.

But with his cultivation, how could such auras bother him? He suppressed them with ease.

Then, his eyes shimmered with divine light as he scouted the area.

He saw some evil spirits that had escaped from Hell being attacked by the aura of the Asura Realm. Some survived, directly entering the cycle of the Six Paths of Rebirth in the Asura Path, reincarnated as members of the Asura Clan.

Many more were completely annihilated, losing their chance for reincarnation.

"Found it!" Sun Wukong looked towards the distance.

In the far distance, there were black mountains stretching continuously, extremely dangerous looking.

Within one of the caves, a dragon-headed humanoid spirit was trapped.

There were also some warriors of the Asura Clan patrolling around, some with wings, others with multiple eyes, hands, or feet, all differing in appearance.

Although he had found it, Sun Wukong was puzzled in his mind. How could the Jing River Dragon King be in the Asura Realm, and even imprisoned by the Asura Clan?

Of course, it’s not to say the netizens were wrong, since this place was indeed the border between Hell and the Asura Realm.

Thinking this, Sun Wukong did not change his appearance and strolled boldly towards the mountain range.

As he approached, a group of warriors from the Asura Clan came forward to stop him. The leader, with a fierce look, shouted, "Who dares to trespass into the Asura Realm, seeking death?"

"Heh, quite arrogant," Sun Wukong simply exhaled, blowing those warriors of the Asura Clan into disarray, disappearing without a trace.

However, he inwardly admired the strength of these Asura warriors.

This group of Asura warriors, each was not inferior to his own Earthly Punishment Heavenly Soldiers, with the leader possessing the strength of an ordinary heavenly general, equivalent to the realm of a True Immortal.

Swish, swish, swish!

At that moment, Sun Wukong’s actions indeed attracted many more from the Asura Clan, thousands in number, completely surrounding him.

The leader was a white-haired youth bare-chested, wielding two large sabers, and exuding an aura of a Daluo Golden Immortal.

"Who are you, and why have you invaded my Asura Realm?" the white-haired youth asked coldly.

"And who are you to speak to me in such a manner?" Sun Wukong asked with a smile.

"Hmph, where did this monkey come from, thinking you’re wilder than me?" the white-haired youth snorted coldly and attacked outright.

Whoosh!

He stepped up into the air and swung his two large sabers simultaneously, the powerful aura of a Daluo Golden Immortal seemingly stirring up endless slaughter, heading straight for Sun Wukong.

Clang!

But when the sabers hit Sun Wukong, they merely emitted a piercing clang.

"Quasi-Saint?" the white-haired youth’s face changed dramatically.

Meanwhile, Yama and others, after struggling for a while, also stepped out of the eighteen layers of Hell and arrived in the Asura Realm.

Seeing this scene, they were shocked but also reassured.

This new Emperor Fengdu was truly as rumored, possessing the strength of a top-tier Quasi-Saint.
