Just a Useful Pawn in the Stain Sect-Chapter 112: Seal clubbing
The instant a Monk with a refined Golden Body at the front of the line collapsed, Guangming, who was at the very rear, reacted.
"When I attain Buddhahood, if the Celestial Beings in my land are not all of true golden color, I shall not attain supreme enlightenment."
This was the Golden Form Spell, one of the forty-eight Great Spells from the Enlightenment Mahayana Sutra. It was also the Divine Power Spell that Guangming primarily cultivated.
As Guangming’s voice echoed, all the Monks in its path began to glow with a splendid golden light, as if they had all been blessed with a Golden Body. Then, these Golden Bodies linked together, forming a golden canopy that slowly spread out in all directions!
This was a Protective Spell.
Under the Great Spell’s blessing, even those who hadn’t cultivated the Golden Body Technique could gain the power of a Golden Body for a short time. Moreover, the more people there were, the greater the power of the blessing.
In the next instant, however, there was a deafening crack.
BOOM!
As Guangming watched, dumbfounded, the Great Curse Light he had just unleashed with all his might lasted less than a second before a single Sword Light easily shattered it.
In the blink of an eye, another Monk was decapitated.
"This is impossible... A Foundation-Stage Cultivator!?"
Guangming’s pupils constricted. His Golden Form Spell also possessed a high Position; logically, not even a Legendary Technique should have been able to break it so easily.
He had gotten a clear look at Lü Yang’s Blood Sun Sword Pill, too. It barely qualified as a Superior Artifact—not even a top-tier one, let alone something comparable to a Sentient Artifact. A Sword Pill of that Material should have been theoretically incapable of shattering his Protective Spell.
Unless... this one’s Position was far above his!
’So I get to have a day like this, too...’
The Sword Light scattered as Lü Yang let out a satisfied breath. After fighting in so many high-stakes matches, he had finally stumbled into a newbie lobby.
Guangming’s guess was spot on.
Lü Yang hadn’t used any Divine Techniques at all. With his high Position, which was nearing Foundation Establishment, he could have blasted right through Guangming just by taking a piss.
’This is absolutely no challenge.’
’But... I love that it’s no challenge! Isn’t the whole point of training so hard to reach a high stage to crush newbies? Smurfing in the Newbie Village is my absolute favorite!’
The next second, a Vajra Pestle came smashing down.
Lü Yang simply raised an eyebrow. He made no move to dodge or evade, calmly watching as the Vajra Pestle slammed into the spot between his eyebrows without so much as scratching his skin.
The difference in Position was as vast as the heavens. In Combat between Cultivators, an unequal Position was like someone at the foot of a mountain trying to attack someone at the peak—utterly impossible. Thus, even a Vajra Pestle that could shatter mountains and split stone was no more than a gentle breeze to Lü Yang.
It couldn’t even slow him down.
In an instant, Lü Yang once again transformed into Sword Light. Kicking up a shockwave, he slashed down at another Monk, and another head went flying.
At that moment, however, Guangming’s eyes lit up.
A Jade Bottle appeared in his hand. He threw it at Lü Yang, and it exploded in mid-air, instantly erupting into a spreading mass of Crimson Flame.
Wherever the Crimson Flame passed, it was like a bottomless abyss opening up, ravenously devouring the surrounding Qi. A few Monks standing near Lü Yang were merely grazed by the flames, but they turned into puffs of green smoke in the inferno before they could even scream, leaving not even bones or ash behind!
Guangming himself recoiled as if from a venomous snake, rapidly retreating the moment he unleashed the Red Fire.
This was because the fire was called the Heaven-Cleansing Flame. It used Qi as fuel; as long as Spiritual Qi was present, it was impossible to extinguish. Once it landed on a Cultivator, it clung to them like a festering disease.
More importantly, its Position was sufficiently high.
It was a gift from his master, Arhat Fulong, taken from a Heavenly Stem’s Ability, the Fire Dragon. As a Foundation Establishment-level item, using it against a mere Qi Refiner should have been child’s play!
’This guy is far too arrogant...’
Guangming watched as the sea of Red Fire swallowed Lü Yang’s figure. The tension immediately left him, and he let out a long breath of Muddy Qi.
’A pity. Once he’s burned to ashes, he can’t be initiated into the Fulong Temple...’
But in the next second, he froze.
His eyes went wide. There, standing amidst the sea of Red Fire, was Lü Yang, completely unharmed. Only his eyes were visible, glowing red in the inferno’s light.
"...This is bad!"
Before the words had even left Guangming’s mouth—
RUMBLE!
The Red Fire erupted, expanding in a sudden blast that instantly swallowed the surrounding Monks. And within the flames, a figure was freely reaping lives!
To say the so-called Heaven-Cleansing Flame was ineffective against Lü Yang would be an understatement—it was utterly useless.
After all, Lü Yang had seen its full version, Fire Dragon, in his past life. How could a mere splinter of its flame possibly harm him?
Lü Yang casually formed a hand seal for a Lunar Shedding Technique, shedding his form to escape. He broke free from the flames with ease. Then, transforming into Sword Light once more, he turned the tables by detonating the Flame himself. Using the resulting inferno as cover, he began a frenzied slaughter, sending bloody heads soaring into the sky one after another.
The sight struck terror into the hearts of the remaining Monks.
A chill crept into Guangming’s heart. ’Are you kidding me? This has to be a direct disciple of a Stain Sect’s Perfected Lord. How could I possibly fight a Demon of this caliber?’
And yet, in that moment, he was unnervingly calm.
’I can’t run!’
’He’s clearly skilled in the Sword Escape Technique. If I run, I’ll just become a target. Besides, my own Escape Techniques are mediocre. If I tried to flee, I’d definitely be the one left behind.’
’Wouldn’t that be a death sentence?’
After a split-second of thought, Guangming took action. He suddenly roared, "Everyone, don’t panic! Just watch what I can do!"
His voice was powerful and brimming with confidence, as if everything was still under his control. Since Guangming was their leader and commanded a degree of respect, he instantly became the pillar of support for the other Monks. Their formation, which had been about to collapse, stabilized again.
But Guangming knew this was only temporary.
’They’re listening to me because they hope I can deal with this Demon.’
’The moment they realize I’m just putting on a front and can’t actually handle this Demon, they’ll break and run. They won’t really listen to my orders and throw their lives away.’
SWISH—!
Sword Light flashed, and another Monk’s head shot into the sky.
The remaining Monks huddled together, desperately channeling their power to sustain their Protective Buddha Light, all while staring expectantly at Guangming.
’Didn’t you tell us to watch you?’
’What are you just standing there for? Do something! Help us!’
The next second, Lü Yang appeared above them. He sneered, then brought his fingers together. A dark cloud immediately materialized in his palm.
"Huddling together saves me the trouble of killing you one by one."
As his voice fell, Lü Yang channeled his power and tossed the dark cloud into the air. In an instant, it expanded to cover the sky, plunging Heaven and Earth into darkness.
A fierce wind began to blow. The dark clouds roiled and churned, revealing countless Yin Fiends within. They collided and ground against one another, transforming into golden, snake-like bolts of Thunderbolt Lightning that flickered and streaked through the air.
Finally, as Lü Yang turned his palm downward, the lightning crashed down with unstoppable momentum!
Demon Yin Thunder!
This Technique involved no finesse. It was simply Lü Yang using his higher Position and stronger cultivation to crush his opponents with brute force!
The next second, the lightning cascaded down from the sky like a torrential waterfall.
How could the Monks below withstand such a violent bombardment? Their Buddha’s Golden Bodies lasted for only a few breaths before shattering inch by inch under the endless barrage of lightning.
A full quarter-hour passed before Lü Yang finally retracted his technique.
Looking down, there were no Monks left. All that met the eye was a scorched, crater-ridden landscape, utterly unrecognizable from what it was before.
