’Man, this is taking longer than I anticipated.

,’ Zhen Liu complained.

[To be fair, Executor, I think this is the first time you’ve been around a normal mortal when they do a cultivation breakthrough.]

’That is true...’

Zhen Liu and Blazejudicator did not immediately bail after Lythero started cultivating, instead, the two strangers in a strange land opted to stick around and see just how far Lythero could go running on nothing but his own suppressed aether finally running free.

That and because Zhen Liu couldn’t help but feel a strange sense of kinship with the young man after learning his own cultivation was fucked up too.

Their circumstances were slightly different from one another due to one having access to cultivation but sealed while the other was just...born weird. Regardless, Zhen Liu still couldn’t just leave the dude to cultivate by his lonesome because of their strange kinship.

’Wait a minute...I just realized something,’ Zhen Liu mused while staring at Lythero as he cultivated.

[Realized what, Executor?]

’This guy is cultivating what you and I are both sensing to be a Universe class formula, right?’

[Yes.]

’And up until we got involved, his ass was basically sealed while living in a backwater town, right?’

[I’d go with underdeveloped, but sure.]

’So...where are his guards?’

[Could you elaborate on that?]

’Most stories I’ve read, whenever someone has a seal placed on their ass, they’re usually guarded by some gigantic monster, an ancient elite warrior or a literal army,’ Zhen Liu explained. ’Especially when the sealed person happens to have world shaking power. And there’s not much in this world as world-shaking as a Universe formula.’

[Oh, I see what you mean,] Blazejudicator nodded.

’Yeah, so who’s supposed to stop this from happening?’

[Probably that army of private warriors coming our way.]

’Say what now?’

[Look that way and extend your senses.]

’You remember I can’t do that without assistance, right?’

[Right. Allow me then, Executor,] Blazejudicator said before merging with Zhen Liu’s body, giving him access to a less extraneous network of aether channels to work with.

’Alright, let’s see here...ah.Yeah, that is indeed an army...’

[Should we bail now, or...]

’Ya know, I wouldn’t mind beating out some catharsis. Also, it’s been awhile since I fought using just this club and hammer of mine...’

[Will you need the fire enhancements or...]

’Meh, play it by ear.’

...Meanwhile...

=And it appears that our lord is about to engage in fisticuffs...excellent!=

[How is that a good thing?,] Screamira asked.

<Because it means we can use the enemies as a means to triangulate our Lord’s geographic location!,> Pathos excitedly explained. <Although, it depends on how our Lord approaches this situation...>

[Seeing as none of us are with him, probably with a lot of whole talking,] Hurricroak commented.

<=Possibly.=>

...About several hundred feet away from Zhen Liu, Lythero and Blazejudicator’s position...

^Return to your homes. This is an emergency situation, please return to your homes until it’s resolved,^ an aether warrior dressed in crimson leather armor announced with an aether enhanced voice.

For the first time in Papaya Town’s...incredibly brief history...martial action was happening right before the eyes of its residents.

In the past, they had seen large hunting parties go out and deal with the local aether beasts and the occasional suppression force to deal with local bandits, but those were relatively small scale groups.

At most, these groups consisted of five warriors at minimum to ten at the absolute maximum.

This was a full legion of a hundred or so Aether Acolytes, a dozen or so Aether Masters and a trio of Grandmasters, who were mounted on tamed aether beasts.

The aforementioned trio consisted of the leader of the Cortez Trading Company, Kendana Cortez, the vice leader, Leon de Koothrapa, and the head of Acquisitions and Security, Rama Lopez.

By this town’s standard, such a force was considered overkill, so whomever or whatever necessitated such a response must’ve been absurdly powerful. As such many of the residents needed this warning and proceeded to hide away in their homes.

^Don Cortez, are you sure all of us are necessary to put a stop to one man’s cultivation?,^ Leon asked. ^That little bastard has been sealed for years, I highly doubt that-^

^Did you not read the rest of the report, you fat idiot?,^ Rama interjected with a forceful voice. ^That bastard had assistance in the breaking of the seal on his cultivation. A seal placed by an Aether King! Anyone strong enough to do that, necessitates a force as dense as ours at minimum.^

^Ah...wait, what?!^

Expecting this outburst, Kendana answered in Rama’s stead.

^If you’re worried about whether or not we have the ability to overpower such an opponent, don’t be,^ Kendana answered. ^The ancestor foresaw this possibility happening ages ago and made sure to provide with us the means and methods to suppress such opponents.^

As he was explain all this, Kendana eventually gestured towards a treasure box being carried by a quartet of slaves.

The box itself was leaking a rather horrendous aura that made one’s skin crawl with the feeling of a thousand maggots, but the sight of this ominous ass box was actually quite comforting to the questioning Leon.

Especially since it came from the Honored Ancestor.

^Well then, if we have the assurance of the ancestor himself, than we have nothing to worry about!,^ the vice leader of the Cortez Company chortled.

Under this prospect of ancestral support, the morale of the leading figures of this small army was much higher than before.

Evidently, this high morale led to a rather inflated ego.

An ego that was about to be tested in a rather...violent manner.

...

’Alright, so that’s a whole bunch of Acolytes, a dozen or so Masters and three Grandmasters that may or may not be worth a damn in a fight...this is going to be interesting...’

...

^We’re here. Tell the troops to hold the line,^ Kendana commanded.

^Company, halt!^

From an outsider’s perspective, a rather absurd scene was unfolding.

In front of a rundown shack in the middle of a jungle town, a whole army of Aether Warriors were standing at the ready, as if they were preparing for an invasion of some kind to come pouring out of it.

As the old saying goes, however, seeing wasn’t always believing.

As the three Grandmasters of the Cortez Trading Company stood before the shack’s perimeter, they could sense something amiss.

^There’s a strange barrier surrounding this space,^ Rama observed. ^It seems to prevent perception and blocks aether abilities coming out instead of in.^

^Sounds a bit like a prison or a shelter,^ Leon added. ^Should we break it?^

^That will be unnecessary,^ Kendana answered. ^From another perspective, this should allow us to handle whatever issue is causing this mirage without disturbing the citizens. We can’t keep milking them for all their worth if we don’t act the part of being benevolent overlords, now can we?^

^Of course.^

^A most wise decision, leader.^

^But that said, it would be prudent for us to send scouts in first...,^ Kendana trailed off before redirecting his attention towards his subordinates.

^You, you and you. Go and across the barrier and report back what is transpiring. On the double.^

^Yes, Boss Kendana,^ the loyal trio of soldiers replied before making their way across the mirage barrier.

In an instant, the three young warriors disappeared out of sight once they crossed a certain physical threshold, which was quickly marked by other nearby warriors.

^Now, we shall see what sort of expert had deemed it necessary to stick their nose where it doesn’t belong...^

...On the aforementioned other side...

A trio of soldiers from the Cortez Trading Company, entered the boundary of a strange barrier mirage. In their heads, this was going to be a quick and easy mission that would soon be handled by those more powerful than themselves.

As such, they had vastly underestimated about what they were going to see behind the veil.

^Alright, we just need to get in, get out and-oh...oh shit.^

^By the Phoenix Saint!^

^This is...not good.^

Once the trio of soldiers crossed the barrier, they were greeted by the sight of Lythero the Bastard Vagabond, in the midst of cultivating and breaking through no less. However, this wasn’t a normal breakthrough.

Surrounding Lythero were several large balls of fire that looked like miniature suns, and from what they could see, Lythero was condensing another one.

Evidently, this was all the scouts needed to see before coming to the conclusion that they were way over their heads and needed to report this to their leaders, ASAP.

However...

^We gotta go and report this, now.^

^Agreed.^

^Hold up,^ an accented voice called out to the soldiers before they could make a move.

The moment that this voice called out to them, all three felt as if their spines had suddenly turned to jelly as their blood turned to ice.

A sharp contrast to their scorching hot surroudnings.

Turning to the voice, the trio of soldiers were soon greeted by the sight of a young man with black hair, green eyes and an unnervingly easy demeanor. Then again, it might’ve been the fact that man was sitting on a rock that made him cast a rather imposing shadow, due to the miniature suns burning behind him.

^Mind sitting for a spell before you go and tattle about my friend here? Won’t cost ya nothing.^

Evidently, the scouts couldn’t help but feel that they didn’t have a choice in this matter.
