^I can spare about...ten silver coins,^ Lythero mentioned after sorting through his coin pouch. ^Here.^

^Much obliged,^ Zhen Liu thanked while taking the coins and handing off Leon and Rama to Lythero. ^Keep an eye on these two for me.^

^Right.^

Coinage in hand, Zhen Liu proceeded to feel their weight for a bit before focusing his [Chaos] into them via his left hand.

During the battle for Undertow, Zhen Liu had lost several dozen or so zakos due to the Fallen and had yet to on actually replenish their numbers after the fight. Therefore, this moment in front of the biggest mansion in Papaya Town was the perfect time for Zhen Liu to replenish his stockhold.

However, while in the process of creating some new zakos, a strange message appeared in Zhen Liu’s head.

...

’Well, shit...good thing I’m stealing from these bastards," Zhen Liu thought to himself after fully parsing through the message that had been conveyer directly into his mind. Coincidentally, the time it took to read through the message was the exact time it took for the silver in Zhen Liu’s hand to convert into zako marbles.

Zako marbles that Zhen Liu immediately used to summon a whole squad of helpers.

^Alright, come on out you lot!,^ Zhen Liu commanded as he threw out the silver marbles in his hand.

^What the-^

BWOOM!

^Whoa!^

^Wait, what?^

The metal spheres sailed through the air for only the briefest of moments before exploding into several humanoids that appeared to be made of shadows, save for the presence of silver armor covering several parts of their body. In Zhen Liu’s head, they resembled mechanical conquistadors.

^Okay, I need six of you to keep these guys secured, while the other four to be on standby, got it?,^ Zhen Liu commanded.

"Grunt!"

^They’re alive?!^

^How is that...no...^

Needless to say, the Cortez Company Grandmasters were shocked at this strange display and wanted to ask some rather pertinent questions. (Un)Fortunately, Lythero beat all three of them to the punch.

^Wait, you can turn money into warriors?!,^ Lythero asked in a shocked tone of voice. ^What the fuck, if I knew that, I would’ve handed over my whole purse earlier when the Cortez Company army showed up!^

^Eh. Slight correction on that,^ Zhen Liu said before he began to poke around the ground for small stones, a few pieces of twigs,a couple of fallen leaves and even the fragments of a tortoise shell.

^Okay, that should be enough.^

Once all of these things were gathered, Zhen Liu repeated his earlier actions and summoned forth another handful of zakos.

[Rrr...]

[Thwack!]

[Fwish! Fwish!]

[Bo...]

Unlike the prim and pristine ones he summoned before that were made of silver, these newer ones were made of the random jungle detritus and looked the part. They resembled demonic warriors who made the jungle their home and knew it better than any other.

This was a little odd to Zhen Liu since the rocks from back home didn’t look like jungle warriors, they looked more like golems with vague horn nubs on their heads.

’Maybe it’s a regional thing?,’ Zhen Liu eventually concluded.

That stated, the other people in the immediate area didn’t really notice or care about such details. They were more focused on the fact that Zhen Liu/Dealmaker just created warriors out of what were essentially pieces of trash and detritus.

To Lythero, this was a good thing. This meant that making friends/making a deal with this guy was a surefire way to help fulfill his desire for revenge. After all, he knew of no one else in this world who could summoned warriors at an instant.

Except for maybe the Star Caller in the stories.

’Wait a minute...,’ Lythero thought to himself as he continued this train of thought.

On the flip side, the three Grandmasters of the Cortez Trading Company were now in the deepest pits of despair they had ever felt.

Because not only did they realize far too late that they were outmatched from the start, but that this crazy Dealmaker guy had them outnumbered from the start as well.

This meant, that even if Rama and Leon had actually managed to rally their troops to attack, Dealmaker would’ve simply summon a whole mess of these artificial soldiers and end them all in a matter of moments.

Evidently, this realization caused Kendana, the defeated leader of the Cortez Company, to ask a question that manifested in the mind of all three Grandmasters.

^If...if you had this power, why didn’t you use it? Why did you give us those options in the first place?!,^ Kendana yelled while replaying the events that had occurred earlier in the evening.

Zhen Liu didn’t take offense to all of the yelling, but instead, he found it amusing.

There was strange satisfaction in seeing someone who once acted high and mighty, suddenly become as panicky and cowardly as the people they looked down upon.

That said, there was one thing Zhen Liu found a touch more entertaining and more effective.

This 𝓬ontent is taken from fгeewebnovёl.co𝙢.

Pretending to be insane.

^Let’s see...well, for starters, if I killed all of you, I wouldn’t be able to extort the lot of you for all the goodies you gathered over the years. Speaking of, break the door.^

[Rrrr!]

The rocky zakos proceeded to do as they commanded and used their stone bodies to knock down the door to the Cortez Company mansion.

Once the way was clear, the rest of the zakos followed suit in order to loot the place.

^But that isn’t the actual reason, just a happy coincidence,^ Zhen Liu added with the smile being evident in his voice. ^Ah wait, they’re going to need directions or else they’re going to simply wreck the place. Come along.^

With the zakos and Lythero keeping the Cortez Grandmasters in check, Zhen Liu had free reign to walk in and evaluate the Cortez Company mansion at his leisure.

The style was mostly in traditional Dozing Salamander make, which looked a lot like a mash-up of Indian and Spanish architectural style in Zhen Liu’s eyes.

As he and the others walked deeper and deeper into the mansion, he began to explain himself.

Well, a version of himself.

...

’Should I go with bored and bloodthirsty, or opportunistic pacifist?’

[I think you can combine them both into one.]

’Ooh...’

...

^In actuality, it’s because...ya know what? I’m going to give you all three possible answers and let you pick the one that sounds the most reasonable to your sensibilities. Sounds good? Great,^ Zhen Liu said as he kept walking with the Cortez Company leadership in tow with Lythero’s assistance.

Not caring about their reactions, or whether they were fully listening, Zhen Liu explained the three possibilities, with fingers to match.

^First, I am a pacifist. If I can help it, I’d prefer to settle things peacefully without resorting to bloodshed, violence and the like. It’s more profitable to use a silver tongue over an iron fist after all.^

Listening to this statement as demonic warriors ransacked their home didn’t really put the Cortez Company leadership at ease. If anything they felt like his answer to be a lie.

^Second possibility, I am a bloodthirsty thrillseeker. Because I have the safety net of having an instant army at my neck and call, I am more than willing to take risks and actions that most other people would write-off as being too dangerous. After all, only someone insane would fight three Grandmasters and an army by their lonesome.^

This reasoning made a bit more sense to the Cortez Grandmasters, but there was something off about it. If he was truly a bloodthirsty thrill seeker, then none of them would be alive right now. If anything, the entire of Papaya Town would be in flames.

Evidently, this thinking was the reason why they ended up believing the third option more so than any of the other two.

^Third and finally, I like to keep a low profile,^ Zhen Liu said while holding a singular index finger. ^Think about it for a second. How many factions, sects and empires would kill each other over having a warrior on hand that could make an army in an instant. Why, having them on their payroll would make them invincible. Wouldn’t you agree?^

The Cortez Company warriors couldn’t refute this logic because, Zhen Liu was right.

It didn’t matter who, whether they were a tyrant or a benevolent saint, nobody would say no to raw manpower in the form of instant soldiers.

That said, this led to a new question.
