Kaijin Fighter: So I Have to Make Monsters, So What?-Chapter 1180: The Confused and the Slumbering
Meanwhile, outside of the Cortez Mansion...
When Zhen Liu used Rama, Leon and Kendana to force the Cortez Army to retreat and did and for the ending, he had done so in the hope that he would all just go home and be thankful that their lives were spared this day.
Most of them did, some went to go and drink with others in order to share the pain and weirdness of the whole ordeal, while a select few went solo in order to figure out things about themselves, their past and their future.
A perfect example of that latter option was a member of the rank-and-file, and guy who almost stabbed Zhen Liu in the literal back, was a soldier named Antonio.
’Why are [my memories] so fuzzy right now?,’ Antonio asked himself as he stared down the bottom of an empty mug of beer.
He wasn’t entirely sure what happened or why, but ever since he was stopped from stabbing Dealmaker in the back and reminded that he once had [ambitions] beyond the here and now, his brain had been acting weird.
The memories of his life were being remixed, rewritten and reinterpreted in ways that he couldn’t exactly pinpoint which ones were the truth anymore...except for a few bits and pieces.
’Amongst a thousand pieces of fiction, one can find a universal truth...why do I feel like I heard that [somewhere before]?’
He was part of a large family, that much was true.
He was a farm boy once upon a time, that much was true too.
But...there was one memory that seemed off.
In the back of his head, he recalled a strange incident that occurred when he was playing in a grove of mango trees that was on his family’s property.
During that incident he vaguely remembered finding an unusually large tree, and that the tree had a door installed at its trunk.
Curious as to where it led, Antonio had opened that door and...and...
’Nothing. Why do I remember [nothing] but feel like I saw something that changed me?,’ Antonio thought as he tried to milk a few more drops out of his empty mug.
This memory, this fleeting thought, had haunted him for years but he had never acted upon it because he forgot about it...until now.
He wasn’t entirely sure, but the more he thought about Dealmaker’s presence, the more he realized that it was very similar to what he felt that day...or at least, he thought they felt similar enough.
The only way he would know for sure though if he could find wherever that was again and if he could get that Dealmaker guy in that location...wait a minute...
’Right now Dealmaker and that kid Lythero are holed up in the company’s main estate...if I can get in there...’
A plan began to form in the back of Antonio’s alcohol-addled mind, one that he was certain would get him answers and a future most bright.
However, he forgot to account for the fact that he was drunk and that sneaking into someone’s resting area was a surefire way to get marked as an intruder.
Not that he cared at the moment.
’Dealmaker has the answers I seek, I’m sure of it,’ Antonio told himself as he settled his tab and walked out the door. ’It can’t be too hard to sneak into the mansion and meet him, right?’
...Back at the aforementioned mansion...
[This bed doesn’t look as comfortable as my box...are you sure this is good for the Caretaker?,] Corpse Doll asked as she scratched her head in concerned confusion.
[Yes, I’m certain,] Blazejudicator answered while slightly rolling their eyes. [He sleeps in something like this to recover.]
[If you say so...]
Several minutes ago, Blazejudicator had coordinated with Lythero and the [Cursed Corpse Blood Puppet] protokaijin in dragging Zhen Liu to one of the guest rooms in the Cortez Mansion.
There was an initial suggestion about using Kendana’s master room instead, but that suggestion was tossed out the window the moment they smelled all the conflicting perfumes and colognes in the room.
It was apparently a common practice on the Dozing Salamander continent to keep the rooms lightly scented for the sake of comfort.
Regardless, once Zhen Liu was tucked into bed so he could recover, Lythero, Blazejudicator and the Corpse Doll were left to their own devices.
The trio opted to go and make use of the mansion’s kitchen, since Lythero hadn’t eaten yet and the other two were just...bored.
Plus, there was an untouched pot of curry that was just begging to be eaten.
^So what language are you...guys...speaking exactly?,^ Lythero asked as he grabbed himself a bowl of curry and some naan. ^It sounds like chirping birds mixed with the grunts of a boarrilla in heat. Actually, follow-up on that, what are you guys exactly? Clearly you’re not an aether puppet and she’s clearly not that anymore either...so what are you?^
Before answering any questions, Lythero, Blazejudicator and Corpse Doll situated themselves at a table in the kitchen so that the former could eat while the latter two could sit.
Blazejudicator took on a formal yet relaxed seating position, while the Corpse Doll had become fascinated by the differences between the wooden and metal spoons she found in the kitchen and was studying them both with great intensity. This meant that only Blazejudicator could answer Lythero’s questions
^To answer your first question, it doesn’t have an official mortal name,^ Blazejudicator answered in formal Scorch Speak. ^Although the colloquial name is [Chaos] Spe-sorry, Chaos speak.^

^Chaos Speak?^
^It’s a need-to-know basis.^
^Ah.^
^As to what we are, the Corpse Doll and I are-^
Crunch
^Huh?^
Before Blazejudicator could provide a solid answer, the Corpse Doll interrupted the entire conversation by chewing down on one of the spoons she had acquired earlier.
More specifically, she had saw how Lythero was eating his food and began to mimic his actions until she bit down and through a metal spoon.
Lythero couldn’t help but pause at the sight of this action, especially since she began to chew on the chunk of metal like she had gotten her hands on a piece of gum.
Lythero and Blazejudicator continued to stare at the Corpse Doll’s chewing until she finally stopped to notice their staring.
Once it fully registered in her head that they were staring at her chewing the spoon, the Corpse Doll began to possessively guard her other spoon and partially chewed one.
[My food.]
^Thats not-^
[Try chewing on this. I think you’ll like it better,] Blazejudicator interjected by grabbing a tropical apple and presenting it to the protokaijin.
The Corpse Doll sniffed at the fruit for a few seconds before spitting out a chunk of metal and taking a hesitant bite out of it.
The Corpse Doll’s eyes went wide for a full moment as the flavor of the fruit exploded in her mouth.
^Is she o-^
YOINK!
[MINE!]
^Ah, never mind.^
The next thing Lythero knew, the Corpse Doll began eating the tropical apple like a starving man...woman.
Either way, it was an improvement over eating the cutlery.
^Now to answer the question about what we are,^ Blazejudicator continued. ^The Corpse Doll and I are what are known as Kaijin. We’re beings made of mortal desires and given form from the materials of this world. Those that carry great [Value] or [Meaning]. Er, sorry, value or meaning.^
^Value or meaning...can you give me an example of what you mean?,^ Lythero asked as he couldn’t really wrap his mind around the difference.
^Well...I am made from rare aether flames, along with some other stuff, that have a high value on the auction. The Corpse Doll here was made from a [Cursed Corpse Blood Puppet], which is incredibly high in value.^
^Uh huh...,^ Lythero agreed as he watched the aformentioned Corpse Doll continuing to ravenously devour the tropical apple...followed by her stealing the fruit bowl.
[So many different flavors!]
^Okay, cool,^ Lythero nodded in understanding. ^Are you two the only Kaijin in existence or -^
^No, I am actually the...9th technical Kaijin created since Executor has become the Kaijin Lord. On a technicality, Corpse Doll is the 13th.^
^Whoa...are they also made from "valuable" materials like you guys or are they made of materials heavy in meaning?^
^Column A, Column B,^ Blazejudicator answered. ^You would’ve been able to meet them today, if the key was working.^
^Huh...are they as prim and proper as you or they as wild as...her.^
The reason for Lythero’s pause at the end, was due to the Corpse Doll finding a durian fruit and the fact that she bit into it like it was an apple from earlier.
^As I said before, Column A, Column B,^ Blazejudicator reiterated. ^Although, you should probably know that every one of them are as loyal to the Executor as I am and they’re about...ten times more dangerous.^
^...oh.^
Meanwhile...
[WHERE’S MY RUBBER DUCKY?!]
