=Huh…well that’s an unexpected blessing in disguise.=

<What is? Our lord is looking like he’s about to vomit three times over.>

=Due to his connection with the other kaijin being all distorted, they won’t be affected by all this sutra talk.=

<Huh…I guess that’s a good thing…>

When Zhen Liu and Nepeherage got literally rocked by the power of aether enhanced music, he felt as if could hit his highest and lowest lows in an instant and all it depended on what song was playing in that single instant.

Music had the power to sway hearts and make one feel things they weren’t used to, after all.

When Hurricroak got electrocuted by the dragon otter, and Zhen Liu got exposed to the pain of [Dragon Force] for the first time, he thought that was the most painful thing in existence.

A force of natural [Order] that opposed the randomness of [Chaos].

But now, being forced to listen to a Buddhist sutra of all things, was causing Zhen Liu’s stomach to churn. Literally.

’Holy hell...is this what the Monkey King felt like when he had that headband on his skull?,’ Zhen Liu thought to himself as he did his best to not go down onto his knees.

Aside from the intense nausea though, Zhen Liu finally could wrap around as to why the sutras were making him ill, the words were infused with what he said was tentatively calling [Unwant].

Or maybe [Nirvana] energy was a more accurate term?

Either way, this sutra was permeating his flesh and was having a rather unusual effect on it.

Part of him was feeling invigorated and as if a massive weight was lifted off his shoulders as this sutra played out, but another part of him was feeling as if his stomach was being coated in a sticky oil that made nothing digest right.

Either way, things weren’t gonna go well unless he did something...drastic.

"Yeah...I don’t think my barrier is gonna last much longer," Zhen Liu commented to Lythero while trying to get his arms to stop shaking. "On the plus side, the zako are about halfway done with their journey out of this area.

"So what do we do?," Lythero asked, unsure of whether they needed to fight or not.

"To paraphrase an old mo-story, I listened to a long time ago, we’re going to fight so that we can run away," Zhen Liu answered while manifesting the [MY Driver]. "I’m going to need a quick costume change."

"Fight to run away...just like how my masters lived once upon a time," Lythero commented as he drew his sword. "Also, what do you mean by costume change?"

"You’re about to see...wait...I actually have a better idea."

...

’Blazejudicator, this is less than ideal, but are you ready to do this?’

[Always, Executor.]

’Thanks. Now then...Blazejudicator, with me.’

[MY DRIVER! MAOU MODE: ENMA!]

^You know, I never listened to a proper Buddhist sutra until now,^ Gera commented as he watched Elder Phanra continue to do his thing. ^Well, I have listened to lesser monks do their chants and prayers before, but it was nothing like this.^

^I know what you mean,^ Giobana agreed.^Although, it does make me wonder...if this sutra is a derivative of the original teachings, then how powerful are those original scriptures?^

^Indeed...^

Giobana and Gera weren’t exactly the religious types, but they were appreciative of scholarly pursuits. Therefore, when Elder Phanra informed them about the fact that there was a mythical library said to contain all of the world’s knowledge, they couldn’t help but to become excited by the idea.

Historical documents from nations lost to time, or at least went through great efforts to hide their pasts.

Songs dedicated to heroes and villains alike, from both sides of dueling factions.

Lost religious scriptures that could upend entire churches if even a single line got released to the wider world.

And all of this was supposedly under the guardianship of some mysterious warrior known as the Kaijin Lord.

The Kaijin Lord wasn’t a particular warrior, rather it was a title like "Tusk Elder", that was passed down from person to person.

Nobody knew exactly who these Kaijin Lords were, but there had been plenty of speculation on who these previous lords were and how they were both righteous and villainous alike.

However, they weren’t interested in such moralistic questions.

They were more interested in the here and now.

^So, if a new Kaijin Lord hasn’t appeared yet, would you want to try and become the next one?,^ Gera asked Giobana point blank.

^Now that’s an interesting idea. You think it would help me become Empress?,^ Giobana asked with a sly smile.

^Perhaps, although, I do promise to help you become Empress if I manage to become this Kaijin Lord.^

^I appre...hold on... something’s different...^

When Elder Phanra initially started chanting his sutra, not much had occurred other than a profound of serenity filling in the area.

However, as the man kept chanting, Gera and Giobana could begin to sense some strange, unusual energy beginning to fade away bit by bit.

When that started happening, Gera and Giobana were convinced that they were about to hear witness to some weedy looking coward that just had potent hiding abilities.

Most of the warriors that they knew of that had potent hiding skills were either assassins or scouts, and the fact that this moment was preceded by an act of sabotage suggested that this hidden fellow wasn’t all too powerful...at least, that’s what they thought.

Shortly after Giobana made her observation that something about the area felt off, that strange energy that they felt fading away had suddenly surged and press down on them.

For a brief moment, the two scions of the Erupting Dawn Empire couldn’t breath as the strange energy nearly tripled in its concentration and made the aether inside of the cave act strange. Before things became too heavy though, Elder Phanra paused his sutra recitation and created a barrier of his own to alleviate the pressure on the two scions.

Shortly after this occurred, the source of this pressure made itself known.

"Who dares to speak the words of Nirvana to me?"

^Phoenix ashes! Who is that?!^

^Why does staring at him feel...wrong?^

From the darkness, a being composed of multicolored flames appeared, armed with a strange hammer and dressed in a manner that reminded others of an Imperial judge, stood opposite of the scions and their Buddhist master escort.

To be more precise, Gera, Giobana and Elder Phanra were reminded of a judge that was often depicted in Buddhist paintings of the various underworlds.

A small part of them even assumed it was that exact same judge.

[I ask again, who dares speak the words of Nirvana to me?,] the flaming judgeman asked in a language that felt so familiar yet so foreign at the exact same time.

Despite being trained in diplomacy though, neither Gera nor Giobana spoke up. Instead, it was Elder Phanra.

^Pardon me, but do you speak Scorch Speak? I’m afraid of my ability to speak [Chaos] is limited, and I have a feeling you’ll want to exchange words.^

^Oh?^

For a brief moment, Gera and Giobana could swear they saw the mysterious burning warrior show a surprised expression that seemed significantly more...human.

^Very well,^ the burning warrior agreed. ^Now, who dares to speak the words of Nirvana to me?^

^That would be me.^

Like any good, and honorable warrior, Elder Phanra bowed towards the burning warrior with his fist being shielded by his palm.

^I am known as the Tusk Elder, Phanra. I am a direct disciple of Golden Elephant, a disciple of the Wise Buddha,^ Phanra introduced himself. ^Pray tell, can you honor us with your name?^

At the mention of the Buddha, the two young scions swore they saw the burning warrior flinch once more.

^The Buddha? Interesting...very well,^ the burning warrior agreed. ^In respect for the Honored One, I shall introduce myself.^

However, he didn’t make it a simple introduction. Instead, the burning warrior seem to grow larger and larger as his aura grew heavier with every syllable that came out of his mouth.

^I am the one to have been called the Nightmare of the Land of Darkness, the Burning Star of the West and the One who Roared at the Dragon Kings.^

As his aura grew heavier, various shadows began to fill the cavern and taking on long, hideous shapes that seemed to want to lash out at people like monsters from another realm.

^I am the one they call the End Bringer, the King of Desire and the one who collects all of this world’s knowledge.^

At this last statement, the burning warrior stopped growing an directed his gaze at the old Buddhist.

^I am the Kaijin Lord. Do you dare to challenge me?^

...

^Huh...see...it’s stuff like this that makes me wonder which is the real him.^
