Kaijin Fighter: So I Have to Make Monsters, So What?-Chapter 1234 : Reflective Fighting (3)

As a general rule of thumb, Kaijin were usually immune to weird aether tricks.

Whether those tricks came in the form of aether array traps that could blow up entire armies or ensnaring ones that could lock down one's cultivation, Kaijin were able to barrel through them like elephants through an antique store.

However, there were a few exceptions to this rule.

Firstly, traps that screwed with one's senses or directly affected the soul had an overblown effect on the kaijin due to their bodies being somewhat immaterial and being mostly made of [Chaos].

Second, traps made with certain types of energy that could affect [Chaos] could actually work on them too. This boiled down to either [Chaos] or dragon force most of the time, but there were other types of energy that could affect the kaijin, they were just incredibly rare or used by factions that most people would try to avoid anyways.

The last case, and this was the more common case where aether tricks worked on beings made of [Chaos], were proto-kaijin.

Proto-kaijin fell into this weird niche of being made of just enough [Chaos] that most aether abilities sort of fizzle out on contact with them, but also just enough aether to mitigate the weaknesses most regular Kaijin have.

This sounded strong on the surface, but the trade-off was that they were essentially stuck at a certain power level until they become full-on Kaijin.

Now, this strange combination of traits and circumstances led to a most unusual interaction between the proto-kaijin known as Corpse Doll and a black glass mirror that made distorted copies of whatever living thing that thought staring into it was a good idea.

Or in this case, an unliving thing.

For reasons unclear to practically everyone, including the proto-kaijin herself, the black glass mirrors had somehow produced a very strange copy of her.

In sharp contrast to Corpse Doll's bandaged together form and cursed energy leaking from every pore of her body, the black glass mirror had created a perfect porcelain doll version of her that had this strange aura of purity to it.

By every metric and conceivable trait that could be observed, these two monstrous warriors women should be at each other's throats.

They should be wanting to rip each other to shreds until neither of them remained save for a pile of broken body parts. However, that was the only the case at first.

The black glass mirror was unable to fully copy the flowing [Chaos] inside of the Corpse Doll, so it was forced to replace it with aether.

As the proto-kaijin and her clone continued to exchange blows, [Chaos] flowed from Corpse Doll into the mirror copy of herself and began to replace those replaced portions with the appropriate energies.

This strange exchange didn't occur with Zhen Liu and his copy, though, because they were residents of the material universe so their bodies were more or less complete, flaws and all.

Eventually though, this led to something unprecedented: Corpse Doll was able to talk to her clone via that mental link that only Kaijin shared with each other.

Needless to say, this meeting of the minds was...weird, to say the least.

[Hey...can you...understand me?]

[I...can,] the porcelain copy answered back. [Wait...why am I able to think? Why do I understand that I'm alive?!]

[Oh! This is what happened to me too!]

[Too?]

[Although, your brain bits seem more put together than mine was when it happened for me,] Corpse Doll pointed out. [Then again, my brain is made of the brains of other people, so...maybe yours is more uniform?]

[I think you can just say brain...wait, why am I suddenly more coherent? Why am I having complexing thoughts?!]

As the two kept fighting, sticking to traditional punches, kicks and the occasional block, the two kept conversing with each other, until they developed a strange sense of closeness with one another.

Not close in the ways like how strangers can become lovers or friends, but more like...close in the way long lost siblings got after finally discovering that the other existed. As such, they were becoming increasingly against the idea of outright destroying each other.

[Hey, I don't feel like trying to kill you anymore,] Corpse Doll admitted first.[Do you feel the same?]

[Yeah, same,] the mirror clone, now identifying themselves as Porcelain Doll, answered back. [I mean, I only kind of did this because it was like...the first command instilled into my head after being made real. But now, I see you like a sister. Especially since I think all the "Chaos" flowing through me right now is fucking up that command in my head. Wait, are we sisters since I'm your reflection or are you my mother since I couldn't be born until you rolled up?]

[I don't know...]

However, this didn't mean that they were going to stop fighting each other anytime soon.

[That said...I kind of want to see which of us is stronger,] Porcelain Doll challenged her counterpart with a smile and a left hook to the face. [I mean, I can feel that we're opposite and equal in our abilities but...I honestly want to see how if this is the case.]

[Same here!] Corpse Doll agreed while blocking the attack and smiling back. [My curses versus your...your...what kind of energy are you using?]

[I think blessings? But I don't know if that can be applicable here,] Porcelain Doll replied. [Are Kaijin allowed to be religious?]

[I don't know.]

After this short mental exchange, the two proto-kaijin amped up the amount of blows being exchanged until they finally pushed against each other with heavy palm blows.

[Does that mean we're at a draw?]

[When it comes to martial art kills at least, yes.]

Once the two proto-kaijin dolls separated, they simultaneously prepared for the next round of blows. Except this time, they were going to start channeling aether and [Chaos] in earnest.

Both proto-kaijin took on similar looking bow stances, with one palm held in front of them and a fist kept close to their side.

While holding these stances, the two of them began channeling their respective power into their fists.

Corpse Doll's fist began to radiate an evil energy that filled on-lookers with dread and the feeling that if this attack even grazed them, it would end with their bodies rapidly decaying as madness tore them apart from the inside out.

On the flip side, Porcelain Doll's fist was practically glowing with positive energy that felt as if it could heal any wound it dispell any curse with a touch. But alas, this wasn't necessarily good thing.

After all, the average cell can only take so much positive energy before bursting due to being unable to handle the amount being forced upon them.

As the two sides prepared their attacks, sparks of light and shadow aether began to collide and explode around them.

[Ready?]

[Go!]

With a thrust of their fists, surges of cursed and blessed energy flew towards each other at the speed of light, collided into each other like bison fighting for dominance and then...

Pop! Pop!

...went out with a fizz as neither side could completely dominate the other.

If they were trying to kill each other, the doll-like proto-kaijin would've been angry at this turn of events.

Instead, they were only mildly annoyed.

[Boo!]

[I figured my blessings were stronger than your cures,] Porcelain Doll admitted. [I guess I'm going to have to improvise a bit more...oh! What if I do this?!]

[Huh?]

Instead of going for another straightforward blast of energy, Porcelain Doll, began to disperse her power across her hands before throwing them forward.

Discs of purifying energy flew from Porcelain Doll's hands and towards Corpse Doll, humming and buzzing like runaway buzzsaws.

[Oooh! That's cool!] Corpse Doll praised. [Let me try, let me try!]

In the face of these blades, Corpse Doll tried channeling her cursed power in a similar way. However, instead of a pair of disks, the power condensed around her fists spiked balls.

[Oooh! I think I can just...BAM!]

Crash! Crash!

[Sweet!]

When Corpse Doll punched forward, spiked balls of cursed energy flew off of her fists and impacted the spinning blades of blessed power.

Needless to say, the opposing projectiles of energy destroyed each other upon contact.

[Hahaha! They just went pop pop like bubbles!] Corpse Doll noted with delight. [What else should we try?]

[Hmmm. What about...wait.]

Just as the Porcelain Doll was going to make a suggestion, she stopped as she sensed a strange energy surge coming from a distance.

A surge of energy that was incredibly similar to the ones that created herself and the cloned people that were fighting at this moment.

[What's wrong, sister?] Corpse Doll asked. [Ooh, that sounded really really nice.]

[I'm not sure exactly, but it feels like we have intruders...]

[Intruders? As in new enemies to fight?!]

[Yes.]

[Let's go fight them!]
