Chapter 23: Najimi + Kamijutsu = Mass Destruction

I grabbed an underwear and fled the scene.

But... my luck ran out.

"Hm? Ken-chan, where have you been?!" Mother spotted me from behind, just as I was checking the living room to see if she was there.

She stood there alongside Najimi’s attendant, Mai... who was in bandages (?).

I received an earful, but just as I began to apologize and swear — for what felt like the hundredth time — that I wouldn’t do it again—

"Wait..." she cut in, stopping me.

I halted mid-step. "Yes, Mother?"

She stared at me in silence for a moment, then walked over and grasped my hand. "I hope that’s not the fried chicken from the kitchen."

Tsk. I had thought that cliché scenario would play itself out — where she’d mention something entirely unrelated to the main issue, then just walk away.

"Oh my God, Ken-chan!" she suddenly cried in horror, as she held up the panties.

"Ah, that is Ojou’s!" Mai confirmed without hesitation.

"Ken-chan, explain yourself! Is this Najimi’s influence?!"

Another lecture. Another explosion of how disgusting and totally inappropriate my behavior was.

She handed the piece of fabric back to Mai, and the two of them stormed down the stairs in angry strides.

A chance!

I quickly dashed back into Najimi’s room and swiped another pair of panties.

This time, I wasn’t going to be caught.

I mean, come on, I had been stupid enough to fold the thing into my palm earlier — of course I was bound to get caught.

Mission accomplished.

I found Ferry seated and reading one of my murder story books, glasses on.

"Ah, did you get the goods?"

He said it like I’d gone to buy drugs or something.

I headed out again, just for a moment, to sneak in a bowl and a towel.

I returned, took off the rest of Najimi’s clothes, and began cleaning the dried blood that stained her back and chest.

With each gentle scrub... the scene began replaying in my mind.

It was so painful to remember that tears rolled down from my eyes once again — for the second time in my otherwise ice-cold life.

I had been so confused. I genuinely thought she was an enemy who had infiltrated our home.

The shocked expression on her face, just before her eyes closed, tore something inside me.

Well... she was alive and safe now. That’s all that really mattered.

But also, apparently, she was a godman too.

Najimi + Kamijutsu = mass destruction — of lives and properties alike.

I better keep a closer eye on her from now on.

I hid her bloodied clothes in a box underneath my bed, then began dressing her in the black gown I had taken from her room earlier.

But wait... should Ferry really be looking at my sister’s naked body?

He used to be a man, didn’t he?

Ah, whatever.

Just as I was about to slide her panties on, my eyes caught something.

"Ah," I let out instinctively.

"Hm? Something the matter?" Ferry asked.

"No, I just... It’s been a while since I saw it. It looks a bit different now."

"Ah, you’re referring to THAT, right? I hear it undergoes some kind of changes. What exactly changed, though?"

Hmm... I squinted at him suspiciously for a moment, but I couldn’t sense any dirty thoughts, so I went ahead and began to explain.

"You see this part here? It used to be more—"

CLICK!

"Uhm, look, Ken-chan, I’m really sorry for shouting like that. I should’ve asked you what... you were... doing..."

Mother’s face went completely blank as her brain processed the information in front of her.

"Ah."

I heard a squeak from above, and when I looked up, I saw Najimi now awake and flustered, staring straight at me.

Ferry had long since taken position by the window like a clueless animal. He’s quick to betray, it seems.

"Hm? What’s going on there, Shizuka? You’re just standing... at the... door..."

Father’s face went pale, his hand trembling slightly.

Since I’d already come this far, I just slid the rest of Najimi’s panties on her.

"...I have a perfectly logical explanation for this..."

"..."

I needed to explain myself immediately. I had to remove any trace of doubt before it festered.

But how do I explain something like, ’I mistakenly killed Najimi and there was blood everywhere, but fortunately she was resurrected by my familiar, and I had to change her bloodied clothes without making a scene. But due to wonder, I was taking a look at her... coochy, to understand what had changed since we were kids.’

They might not believe me, in fact.

So the most logical explanation here is...

"Forgive me." I bowed my head until it touched the floor. "I got curious."

"Pfft!"

Ferry nearly blew his cover with that laugh but immediately hardened his expression again.

Najimi and I were now kneeling in the living room, both of us getting an earful.

"Stop grinning like a fool, Najimi!" Mother shoved her leg into Najimi’s face. "I’m certain it’s your nonstop perverted advances that have rubbed off on him!"

As always, Grandfather was on our side.

"Just let them be," he chuckled. "They’re innocent kids, after all."

Father simply advised us to be careful and to never do anything that could bring shame to the Kurosawa household.

Najimi was smiling the entire time, though.

Did resurrection feel that good?

After a little while, something on the news caught their attention:

> "The Tiger Hotel in Roppongi has been reportedly attacked this evening, with ninety percent of the people in it massacred and torn to pieces, as if by a herd of bears.

At the forefront of the establishment, several jagged rocks appear to seal off the entrance of the building. A two-hundred-meter-deep crater can also be seen.

It is unknown what could cause such damage — possibly the same reason the Spider Mafia base was attacked last week. But the JPF is on the case—"

I quietly left them in the living room. I mean, I already knew what happened there... since I was the one who caused it.

Ahhhhhh, that was so stressful.

Taking down the Sabertooth Mafia was far simpler.

Speaking of which... did I see Yamada and his sister?

Actually, I saw a bunch of guys who were supposed to be dead.

Also, wasn’t I shot and killed by the Sabertooth’s Don?

I was about to ask Ferry for answers before—

KNOCK! KNOCK!

"Onii-sama, it’s Najimi... We have a LOT to talk about."

Tsk. Not a single moment of rest, it seems.
