Khalifa: Queen in the Apocalypse-Chapter 212: Exchanging Saliva
The next day, the party once again went on their way.
"We should take at least another day to get there," Kylo said, looking at the rough map that they had, marking the major population points like downtowns and markets as places to avoid.
Considering the traffic, population, and the like, they knew that they had no choice but to take the long way.
"That’s already the ideal. Considering the blockages, it could take even longer than that."
Hugo cursed, "If I find whoever bombed my helicopters."
"Our helicopters," Kylo said with a stoic face, and Hugo rolled his eyes.
"Yes, yes, same difference."
Anyway, the travel was long and tedious and everyone took turns to fight zombies that came their way.
There were also plenty of barricades (mostly by cars) which required metal or earth powers for speed and efficiency.

As such, Cauis’ and Hugo’s strength had to be maintained and they were designated as the ’road clearers’. Clear a car blockage here, lift up a fallen tree here, or take away a post over there.
It was all quite a bit of work.
Khalifa also designated a lot of crystals for their use.
And strawberries and other produce from space.
They found out they had similar effects to crystals, which was awesome.
They had to eat the low-key though, lest Sigmund and the soldiers realized the oddity of a near-endless supply of fresh fruits.
Anyway, thanks to the earth and metal abilities of the two, they were fortunately retained to plus-or-minus a day of travel, and made great progress in a day.
They would have to choose a place to rest soon however, despite the sun being relatively high up, because traveling more would lead them to another city.
Their strengths and crystals simply weren’t enough for that.
When they found a good farm house on their way, they were exhausted.
Well, except for Jacob, who was fine especially as long as he ate some half-rare meat that they somehow never lacked.
This was all noted in Sigmund’s mind, though he never spoke of it out loud.
The team settled in the farmhouse, a quaint two-story building in the middle of several acres of farms.
The few remaining animals continued to roam, but there were no signs of human activity, at least not for a while.
"I’ll take a look around the house," Khalifa said as the others cleaned up the house and checked on the farm.
For efficiency, she asked everyone with fighting capability to check the other areas like the barns, storage areas, granaries, and the like.
This was a farm, after all, and there ought to be some resource points. There might even be survivors. For her part, she was tasked to deep clean the rooms and prepare some water for everyone.
The others went around to explore and found a few human corpses, which had been rotting with maggots on the floor, but fortunately they were mostly in the farms.
They were running away from the zombies inside the house and encountered various accidents along the way.
Someone was even killed by a cow in the slaughterhouse.
As for the zombie corpses, they were dutifully turned to ashes by Kaize and buried somewhere far from the main house.
Back at the main house, Khalifa continued to clean it with her ability.
As a bit of a clean freak, staying in an untidy place would take much more energy from her than proper.
She first went to the master’s bedroom and studied it, disinfecting it by the way.
As she did so, she couldn’t help but look at the displays, her hands moving to take a closer look at picture frames.
The more she saw, the heavier she felt in her heart.
This was a farmhouse for a family of seven: a grandparent, two parents, and the children. Judging from the corpses, most of them had turned into zombies, which was both a pity and a blessing as they didn’t have to suffer alone.
As she walked and cleaned the other bedrooms, her ears perked up when she heard a bit of music coming from a direction.
She blinked and followed the sound to see Sigmund exploring another bedroom, holding a tablet which still had some battery.
"What’cha watching?" she asked, friendly, and he just looked at her blankly and shrugged, throwing down the tablet on the bed next to her.
There happened to be a kissing scene there, though no further details were shown because it was at that moment the battery completely ran out.
"It must’ve disgusted you," Khalifa said with a smile, taking note of getting that tablet in her space when she was alone.
"I will never understand the appeal of exchanging saliva," he only said, his impassive face the same.
Khalifa couldn’t help but look at him a bit more.
He was really handsome and had a unique air and look to him. The way his eyebrows furrowed in a mix of puzzlement and disgust was adorable.
Khalifa bit her lips and walked closer, unable to help herself.
She wanted to tease him a bit.
"Aren’t you curious?" she asked, walking forward. He did not move back, and only stared at her. "Do you want me to show you?"
She asked this, wondering how he’d look. She was expecting an ’Are you an idiot’ look like he usually did, but he stared at her blankly for several seconds… before nodding.
She didn’t really expect him to nod.
It took her aback a little and she saw his eyebrows rise and his lips tilt just a little upwards. He looked smug that he startled her.
Her eyes glinted a bit as she tiptoed, meeting his cold lips.
She could feel him freezing a bit, and she took it upon herself to do all the work—just this one time.
She licked his lips and he gasped just a little in surprise. She took advantage of the opening and let her tongue enter, immediately playing with his tongue.
She closed her eyes and focused on the sensation of the kiss, not bothering to look at him—since he probably had a boring facial expression, anyway.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and she giggled when she felt his arms wrap around her back. It was a bit tentative, but it was progress.
She rubbed her soft body against him as she sucked and licked his tongue and the insides of his mouth. She could feel his hold changing a bit and she smiled, her kisses even becoming passionate.
When they separated a line of their combined saliva hung between their lips, like a bridge.
His face remained impassive but his crimson eyes lingered on her red face.
"Now, was that so disgusting?"
