Chapter 88: Chapter 88: The Shoot From Range. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

The question remains present in my thoughts for a few seconds, as the interior of this Underground Settlement caughts my full attention, because is filled with dwellings that reach up to the cavernous ceiling.

{Maybe this constructions serve as additional supports to maintain the structural integrity of this unnatural chamber?}

During the tour towards the Armory, is obvious that a large part of the population is greatly marginalized, and I am talking about the outcasts, I mean, The Refugees.

However, most of them deserve this treatment, they just sit there or lie down in the streets, drinking and complaining about their situation instead of doing whatever it is necessary to get ahead or simply out of their misery.

If not, they could face dead against the Peepers and stop being a nuisance for The Civilians, which are the most affected by the harsh or aggressive behavior of some individuals of The Refugees.

{*Sigh*, I suppose not everyone thinks or acts with the mantra I learn from The Kcrwlmndth Federation, present and guiding most of their actions, at least before they joined the Global Alliance}

The Young Man stops his walk, advancing near an old wrinkled granny who is begging desperately for a Nûrkxz to eat, but her shrunken eyes give away her addiction to some drug.

He was about to give one of the dodecahedrons to this old woman, being stopped by Q’Waray scolding and enraged voice "—What are you doing?, Don’t use resources for a worthless live form, much less waste my time".

I don’t need to know or understand the language to be aware of what the Young Man is surely responding to Q’Waray; Probably something like, "She can pay for it later, Or, We must help each other in times of crisis like we assist you"; Which is not wrong, under a functional Nation, not in the vestiges of a poorly managed city.

"—Thinking and acting like that is going to kill you"; Reply Q’Waray with an air of wisdom yet moral superiority is lingering on her feisty intonation "—As others would be jealous of the preferential treatment you are given to the woman, demanding even more of what they don’t deserve; Aren’t you hearing the complains already?, Help everyone or don’t create more unfairness and nepotism, could lead to anarchy; Are you ready to put them in place if they turn against the Settlement?"...

The Young Man is thoughtful, struggling between the cold truth mentioned by Q’Waray and his biased decision.

Is this lack of determination what makes the old woman jump towards the Young Man, trying to take the Nûrkxz away.

A golden amber shot immediately comes from one of the tallest buildings, striking the woman’s face, blasting a quarter of her head, spreading blood, pieces of flesh and bone over the already dirty floor; As she falls down too, convulsing uncontrollably during her final moments alive.

"—See, you couldn’t defend yourself"; For once, Q’Waray doesn’t sound like a prepotent smartass, though she is not far from that neither "—Don’t be naive trying to do more than what you currently can, one step at a time, and you could go around the world".

—For Feketh Sake!, Q’Waray!; Make up your mind once and for all; Are you going to destroy his hopes?!, Or encourage and even give him comfort?!.

Q’Waray is stunned for a few seconds by my comment, and the effect turns stronger especially at whatever the Young Man say to her afterwards.

We resumed our walk in silence, and took us a few minutes more to arrive at our original destination, The Armory.

Which is an extensive shooting range with a sort of warehouse slash laboratory and factory, in which several people are working on manufacturing "The Kribdrin"; The organic Rifle that employs eyeballs of Peepers as a Cartridge or Medium to amplify and canalize the ammunition.

{Same principle of the armament industry of The Kcrwlmndth Federation in Clarattoia, with the drawback of everyone having access to only one type of Ammunition}

The Young Man has a small chatting with a slightly older Man; The latter is a bit grumpy, and I know that expression really well, as is the same face which was put by one of the soldiers who supplied equipment on the Northern Front.

{Insufficient equipment or hand labor to create and assemble the parts of the weapon, that, or he doesn’t like outsiders like us, because it is obvious just by our skin tone and overall attire that we are not from here}

The Young Man comes back and looks somewhat ashamed, so Q’Waray translates for us "—We can only give to you three Kribdrin for the moment, of course, only if you pass the test, and it must be fast, since another team of outsiders also wants to get their hands on them...

"—My Farmer!"; Is heard aloud across the entire shooting range, and is obvious who screams, as there is only one female that calls me like this.

Merzïry is hopping from her position to be in front of me in just a few seconds, leaning forward and expecting something from me.

{It seems like I have spoiled her a little bit too much, and I haven’t punish her either, though I can’t recall why I had to discipline her}

Putting my right hand over the cute head of Merzïry, I ruffle her silky silver hair, making the bright smile she has to become even larger of what already is.

—What are you doing here My Cute Silver Bunny, Or better yet, How do you enter in this place?.

Merzïry is confused, tilting her head as she mentions crossing the Incrusted Debris on Ôwrïn’Ykrt Academy to enter directly to the Underground Settlement, explaining everything since the arrival of her Party a couple of hours ago.

{Could it be that, whoever Tamper with Q’Waray’s orientation, accidentally lead us to an Incrusted Debris that actually is the same Environment we wanted to go from the begging?, That would be hilarious, Jajaja}

During the explanation of Merzïry, the rest of her Party Members approach; Obviously, Matchmber is one of them, accompanied by Queen Mireya and her Niece, being "Kaulliette" The Recepcionist of the Library in Karantana and The Not So Old Hag, better known as Bookkeeper Cartïss.

It is evident for me that the memories of this two Women have returned, at least The Not So Old Hag is being quite polite and reserved towards me; Queen Mireya instead looks more open and caring, exactly the way she treated me when I meet her on her Guest House.

The conversation is extended a little bit, catching up on the whereabouts of my other acquaintances, especially Lory who is with Oriana and Andára.

Itzxuria and Questeriss are with the Flaremare Family; Laiara, Carmorac and his sister Citronella are together with the Clïegdren Family; While Irithessa is with Dêrêlitzzê and Zifarlia in another Party; A similar situation to Kim and Nariann.

Knowing all of them are "OK" is soothing and comforting, because it is likely that whatever they have to deal with right now and henceforth, will be more bearable than pointlessly fighting someone else’s war.

{Isn’t that exactly what my life was before all these sudden changes crash over me?; At least now I have a little "Control" over what I want and who I want to do it with}

With the talk over, Queen Mireya, Marckza and myself get serious about taking the "Test" to acquire the Kribdrin.

Which is not troublesome at all; Marckza’s Marksmanship is so good that if someone tells me that she is labeled as a "Surgical Sniper", I would believe it right away, as she hits exclusively the target that is located 275 Meters away.

Queen Mireya on the other hand is a beast too, and I mean it, her eyes show a feralness every time she pulls the trigger that is genuinely contagious, more because she usually looks like a kind and caring Landlady; Differently to Marckza, she hits all targets at least in four distinct occasions.

So I show off too; Realizing the Kribdrin shoots as fast as you can interact with the trigger; While is obvious for anyone present here that the damage of my ammunition is comparatively marginal with the damage output of my acquaintances.

It is also worth noting that I hit all targets at least 12 times in the 30 seconds that the test lasts, all thanks to the Quelizt and its wonderful function, allowing my movements to be more accurate and swift.

The Young Man and the other Male are flabbergasted by our performance, which clearly is impressive for almost everyone here, except for Q’Waray, who barely lifts an eyebrow while asking on our behalf if we pass the Test.

The Man acknowledge we approve, letting us to conserve the three Kribdrin; So we take turns teaching the rest of our Party Members to shoot this weapon; Being Yolanda and Matchmber the most enthusiastic ones if we omit the Niece of Queen Mireya and Xoulsey.

We stay at the Armory shooting range practicing for a few hours, seeing improvements in everyone’s aim, especially on Blondlanda, but she is basically cheating, because everything Yolanda learns, she can do it too.

{And if that is the case, does that not mean that if Yolanda is interested in being intimate with me, Blondlanda also wants to experience it on herself, in addition to knowing what I like based on what her Contractor learn about me?, Just imaging the possibilities is invigorating!}
