Chapter 146: Fighting against Sea creatures III

The second realm sea creatures showed surprise at the sudden attack. Then their surprise immediately turned to anger.

However, before they could react—

BOOOOOOOOOOOM!

They turned their gazes toward the distance.

’Lightning... Laura!’ Robin’s eyes lit up, instantly understanding what was happening. She acted accordingly.

"Flashlight!" she whispered.

A blinding burst of white light exploded from her position, temporarily dazzling the sea creatures. And before they could recover—

THUD...

Another head dropped.

RAAARRRR!

Furious roars echoed as they turned toward the sound, but there was no one there. They searched frantically, scanning the battlefield. Their number had been eight; now only five remained.

Just a few meters away—unseen—Robin stood perfectly still.

She could not currently retreat instantly after a kill. With the sun still overhead, her access to shadows was limited. If she moved, she risked discovery. So, she activated one of her unique passives: Vanishing Act.

As long as she remained absolutely still, her form became completely invisible. When combined with her other passive, Killer’s Calm, which kept her heart rate low and stable, she became nearly undetectable.

Killing another would’ve been tempting, but Robin knew better. The true strength of an assassin wasn’t in rapid kills, but in patience. The patience to let an enemy live now, only to ensure their death later. Anyone who lacked that quality had already failed as an assassin.

Besides, killing two second realm creatures as a first realm was no small feat. It had drained her reserves.

’Done,’ she thought.

As soon as her Spectral Locket recharged, she faded from view. Till the end, the sea creatures remained unaware she’d been directly beneath them.

While escaping, she glanced at the glowing notification hovering before her:

[YOU HAVE REACHED LEVEL 50]

[CHOOSE A PATH TO ADVANCE]

Then a list of paths was laid before her.

’I choose 2.’

[YOU HAVE CHOSEN THE CLASS: SHADOW REAPER]

[TO RECEIVE CLASS, COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS: ...]

After looking at it, without hesitation, she began the requirements.

...

Elsewhere on the battlefield, chaos reigned. Seven level 50 sea creatures led the charge against the evolvers and military. One of the most dangerous among them was an electric jellyfish.

PZZZZT...

"Gahhh—!"

"Ahhhh!"

"HELP—!"

Each time it released its tendrils, a storm of electricity electrocuted everyone in reach. It had already turned over 200 evolvers to ash by the time Victor reached it.

PZZZTT...

It attempted the same attack. But this time—

A tall pillar of earth surged up.

Terra Wall.

Victor watched as the attack fizzled harmlessly against the stone. But the jellyfish was fast as it slipped around the wall and launched another tendril straight at him.

PZZZTTT!

"Urghh..." Victor growled as the electricity surged through him. Unable to withstand it any longer, he let his passive take effect and endure the aftermath.

Mountain endurance, a third realm passive skill that took 20% less damage from any attack; however, it had limited uses in a day, and for now, he could only use it once a day.

With a shout, he summoned Earthen Spikes from his pillar, impaling the jellyfish from behind.

KYUIIIII!

Speed and agility were the jelly’s greatest strengths, but its body couldn’t withstand raw force. Seeing its glaring weakness, Victor pressed forward, launching more spikes into its body.

[YOU HAVE RECEIVED: LEVEL 50 ’SEA JELLY’ REMAINS]

"Phew..." He briefly glanced around his surroundings. His charred body trembled as he activated a set of personal treasures, recovering his strength.

"Leader! Are you alright?"

One of his subordinates approached, drenched in blue blood.

"Kent..." Victor muttered. "Tell the military to attack from the sides."

"Yes!" Kent nodded and dashed away after seeing his leader’s condition.

Another notification then appeared before Victor:

[YOU HAVE REACHED LEVEL 50]

[CHOOSE A PATH TO GUIDE YOU FORWARD]

’I choose 4.’

[YOU HAVE CHOSEN THE CLASS: TITAN’S WRATH]

[TO RECEIVE CLASS, COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS: ...]

’Finall—’

BOOOOOOOOOOM!

A violent explosion interrupted his thoughts.

Victor’s head snapped toward the sound. It came from the direction of the second realm sea creatures.’ He cleaved his way through and scaled a hill of corpses to get a better view—

A massive tornado of wind and water engulfed the sea creatures like a cage. The serpents launched orbs of water, and the sea alligators unleashed claws of compressed fluid.

All to no avail.

Above them, Laura hovered, raining lightning onto their heads.

Victor’s eyes widened.

’Second realm?’

She had evolved.

Not Jon, but her. Laura had become the first human to reach the second realm.

Across the battlefield, stunned gasps filled the air. Even Kent, whom he had sent to deliver the order, stood frozen.

...

’So, this is how it feels...’

Laura felt her body surge with power and tingle with excitement as she battled the five monsters.

Entering the second realm felt like shedding a shell, she felt more of her shackles break down. She felt things from a new perspective. Her body felt new, stronger, faster, and more alive than ever. She felt she could probably cover 200 meters in an instant.

Her level leaped from 50 to 62. Her mana reserves doubled, and the quality of her mana had thickened too, making her skills require less mana to activate and deal more damage.

That wasn’t all. Her old skills evolved, and she gained new ones.

Among those skills was what she was currently using. If before she could only use a skill at a time, now her skills were combinations, and she could chain skills together.

Wind and lightning danced at her fingertips—simultaneously.

Trapped within her storm cage, the sea creatures roared, desperate to break free.

She raised her hand.

This wasn’t just lightning. It was her new ultimate attack skill.

The blue hue of her lightning shifted, tinged with crimson.

She pointed down.

CRACKLE...

BOOOOOOOOOOOM!

The crimson lightning struck the swirling tornado, and all hell broke loose.

Whooosh...

The shockwave shattered everything. Houses, weapons, friend and foe alike were hurled backward.

When it finally settled—

There were no bodies. No beasts. Nothing but three orbs and a single core.

The second realm sea creatures were no more.

Such was the power of a second realm evolver.
