Chapter 105: 105: Being found out- Part 1

Liam reached Elder Erin’s location in record time. But there was a problem with him approaching Elder Erin at the current moment.

That problem was the crowd of students that surrounded the elder at the moment.

Liam could not see an opening to head toward the elder and tell him about the leech that had attached itself to Liam and was sucking him dry.

"Ah, I was wondering how you got here all on your own. So Elder Erin brought you with him? What a nice man he is. He brought my future partner here for me to meet."

Victor spoke in a happy voice as he stepped behind Liam.

Liam gave him an evil look and cursed Victor at the same time inside his mind. He would have rather had Victor deal with the horde of students than the elder.

At least that way, Liam wouldn’t have to deal with the elder’s curious persuading.

"I know that look. Are you curious why no one is swarming me like they are doing to Elder Erin? It’s simple. I used magic to mask myself. Currently, I look nothing like my original self... That reminds me—how did you know it was me? Did you manage to see through the magic?"

Victor asked, and Liam suddenly knew the reason why he had the nagging feeling that he was forgetting something.

It was the feeling of magic he got from Victor when he looked at the man.

Tsk, I made a mistake. But in my defence, this man always oozes out magic like he’s a furnace. How was I supposed to know what kind of magic had been cast?

Liam was practicing his magic these days, and he had come leaps and bounds when it came to mana control and sensing.

But just because he had made remarkable progress, that did not mean he was perfect. There was a lot he needed to learn, and this was one of the things he lacked—practical knowledge of magic and its applications when done by other people.

"Hmm, your expression looks surprised. Looks like you did not realize that I was using magic after all. Well, looks like this is my bad. Should I have pretended not to notice—"

Asger gave no warning and decided to leap out and bite the offending hand.

Liam reacted and tried to grab Asger, but the half-dragon was too agile and managed to dodge Liam’s hand and reach Victor.

But that bastard Victor decided not to dodge that attack and take it head-on. He did use a spell to turn his hand rock-solid so that Asger’s bite would have no effect and wouldn’t be able to penetrate his defenses.

It left Asger hanging from Victor’s hand like a rope, his sharp teeth trying to bite Victor’s arm off, but to no success.

"Is your pet hungry, Liam? Should I look for some pet food for him—"

Asger finally realized that he wouldn’t be able to bite that hand off and decided to give up. The half-dragon quickly flew back and wrapped himself around Liam’s neck with an offended expression on his face.

"Ugh, your skin tastes horrible. Do you not take a shower ever, human? And what is with your magic? Why is it like that? I feel like I am going to be sick."

The half-dragon spoke, and he actually looked like he was going to be sick. Liam could not see any signs of acting on Asger’s face when he looked at him.

Liam quickly looked at Victor, his intention to apologize clear, but he stopped halfway once he noticed the warning flash in Victor’s eyes.

The conversation came to an end right then and there, and an awkward silence descended on the trio. Liam quickly thought of a way to break the tension when he felt a familiar presence walking over to him.

"Victor Rhemington, what brings you here? ...I see that you found Liam. Did you need something from my charge?"

The elder asked in a tense voice. Elder Erin was being cautious of Victor, but he also showed his respect.

With Elder Erin exposing Victor’s real identity, his cover was blown, and his magic was neutralized. The surrounding students gasped, and whispers filled the air as they pointed at Victor.

But despite this, Victor remained unfazed.

Even when the students gossiped and exchanged glances, clearly aware that they had just witnessed an intense moment between two of the most powerful magicians in the academy, Victor only chuckled.

"Oh, Elder Erin, you always know how to ruin my fun. I don’t mind, though. I actually found something interesting today, so I’ll let this slide"

Victor said, amusement evident in his voice. His golden eyes flickered mischievously.

There was a moment of tension between the #3-ranked magician and the #1-ranked magician, a silent battle of wills that none of the onlookers dared to interrupt.

Liam, on the other hand, made sure to keep his distance.

Even Asger, who usually liked picking fights, remained unnaturally quiet.

Liam didn’t intend to get caught between those two monsters, and thankfully, Victor also chose not to acknowledge him as he turned to leave.

Good. That means I’m off his radar.

Or so Liam thought.

Just as Victor walked away, a strange sensation prickled at the back of Liam’s mind. His body tensed as a magical message reached him through the system.

[Victor Rhemington wants to send you a message. Would you accept his message request and check it out?]

The system asked, almost as if Liam had a choice. Liam knew better so he opened the message to see what it said.

He regretted opening it as soon as he did.

[I’ll see you soon, Liam. Don’t miss me too much. Make sure to show me something interesting next time we meet as well. I will be waiting.]

A shiver ran down Liam’s spine.

Damn it.

Victor had found him interesting. That was not good. That was the opposite of good. In simpler words, Liam felt fucked...and not in a pleasent way.
