Chapter 134: 134: Called in- Part 1

Liam did not need to wait long for the results of the trial to come. He was quickly declared innocent and sent back.

On the other hand, the others who were involved more deeply were restrained and had to be locked away for safety until they told the academy how they got their hands on forbidden knowledge.

It was said that Zane would be fine, but the duration and his mental health were questionable.

A lot of people had been affected by what happened, and once it was discovered that even the teachers were involved, things got dicey. The academy had to be closed for a week to clean it up, and that was how Liam found himself back home with nothing to do.

"Wow! You did not even go to school for a week and this happened! Are you some kind of trouble magnet, Boss? If not, then is this all a coincidence? Isn’t it too much?"

Bianca asked, her eyes looking at the kitchen where Elder Erin had disappeared to cook.

She had taken to eating breakfast and dinner at Liam’s because she could not be bothered to either cook or get food delivered.

Liam just shrugged her interest away. He was not interested in telling her that it had all been a part of his plan.

"Well, this was a long time coming. These people were biding their time, and an incident was bound to happen sooner or later. It was a coincidence that it happened when I joined the school and got involved with them."

Liam lied through his teeth, but not all he said was a lie.

He was being truthful when he told Bianca that this incident could have happened at any time. The tension in the air and in the secret society had been high enough to make Liam feel it.

If not him, then another person would have become a victim for sure. Liam being there reduced the casualties and also weakened the society by dividing them into different groups.

Now that the incident was over, Liam could take a deep breath and relax. He did not have to worry about anything—

Ringgggg

"Boss, your phone is going off. You should check who is calling you. It seems kind of important."

Bianca pointed out while looking at his phone, which was going off non-stop. Looking at the phone made Liam sigh, but he quickly picked it up before it could irritate him anymore.

"Hello! This is Nico Vale speaking. How may I help you out today?"

Liam opted to go for his fake name rather than his real name, and there was a reason behind it—not a lot of people who knew his real name would call for him. Liam did not have many people he was close to.

And those he was close to had their numbers saved in his phone. Since this was an unknown number, it was easy to guess that this call was for the academy student and not him.

"Nico Vale? Good! Looks like we reached the right number. I am calling you from the magic investigation department. Please make your way to the case office. The suspect named Ethan wants to talk to you. He has vowed that he won’t talk to anyone else but you about this case."

The female spoke in an assuring voice, and Liam felt his head throb.

"Fine, I will be there soon."

Liam assured before he cut the call off.

Bianca narrowed her eyes at Liam as he put his phone down. She could tell that the call had not been a good one.

"So? Who was that?"

She asked, her voice casual but laced with curiosity.

Liam leaned back against the couch and exhaled slowly. He was not going to tell Binaca much, but telling her a little was not going to hurt him.

"That was the magic investigation department. Ethan wants to talk to me, and he refuses to speak to anyone else."

Asger, who had been lounging lazily on Liam’s shoulder, let out an annoyed huff.

"And what exactly do you get out of going to see that lunatic? If he has something to say, let him spill it to the authorities. You don’t owe him anything, human."

Bianca nodded in agreement. It seemed to be one of the only times the pair actually agreed on something that was not food.

"Asger’s right. I wouldn’t go if I were you. I mean, I never go when they call me in for stuff. My mother usually takes care of these people, so I don’t even have to bother."

Liam smirked slightly at Bianca’s nonchalant attitude.

It was typical of her to avoid unnecessary involvement, but unlike her, he actually had some questions for Ethan.

He wasn’t going there just to humor the guy—he needed to find out what Ethan knew.

Moreover, he did not have a powerful backer like Bianca had. If he did, then he was afraid that he would get used to replying to the older male.

Liam needed to cultivate ways to gain influence and fast. Otherwise, gaining power would be of no use to him.

"I get what you’re both saying, but I need to go. Ethan might have information that could be useful."

Liam explained.

Before Bianca or Asger could protest further, Elder Erin entered the room. His calm yet commanding presence made both of them fall silent as he spoke.

"I heard everything. If you’re going, I’ll take you myself. I happen to be free tomorrow, so it works out"

The elder said, glancing at Liam.

Liam nodded in appreciation. With Elder Erin by his side, things would be much smoother. Bianca sighed and leaned back.

"Well, don’t say I didn’t warn you. If that crazy guy bites your head off or something, don’t expect me to feel bad for you."

Liam rolled his eyes at her dramatics, while Asger muttered something about humans being unreasonable.

It was going to be a tense trip.
