Last Wizard King's SSS-Level Magic system in Modern World-Chapter 141: Private Lesson- Part 2
Chapter 141: 141: Private Lesson- Part 2
Victor led him out of the house and toward the academy, but instead of taking the usual route, he veered off toward an area Liam had never been to before.
The academy grounds were vast, filled with hidden pathways and off-limits sections. The place Victor was leading him now felt... forgotten.
Liam felt every muscle in his body tense.
"Where exactly are we going?"
Liam asked, his tone casual despite his growing wariness.
Victor chuckled.
"Somewhere private. Wouldn’t want any distractions, would we?"
That didn’t ease Liam’s concerns at all.
Still, he followed.
They walked for a few more minutes before arriving at what appeared to be an old training hall. It was far from the bustling areas of the academy, tucked away in an isolated corner.
The air inside was thick with dust, and the faint scent of old parchment and aged wood filled the room.
Victor stepped inside first, turning back to gesture for Liam to follow.
"Come in. Let’s begin your lesson."
Victor said smoothly.
Liam hesitated for a fraction of a second before stepping inside.
The door shut behind him with an unsettling finality.
Victor stood in the center of the room, his hands in his pockets, watching Liam with the kind of interest one might give a particularly fascinating puzzle.
"You’re quite talented. More than I initially gave you credit for. You’ve been hiding quite a bit from everyone, haven’t you?"
Victor began, his tone conversational.
Liam’s pulse quickened. He kept his expression blank.
"I don’t know what you’re talking about."
Victor let out a soft chuckle.
"Oh, but you do. You see, I’ve been watching you, Liam. You intrigue me."
Liam clenched his fists, keeping his stance relaxed but ready.
"And?"
"And I’d like to know more. About you. About what makes you... special."
Victor said simply.
Liam’s instincts flared again, telling him that this was a dangerous conversation to have.
"Shouldn’t you be teaching me something, Professor?"
Liam asked, deflecting.
Victor grinned.
"Oh, but I am. You see, knowledge is power. And I intend to gather as much as I can."
Liam narrowed his eyes.
"And if I refuse to give you what you want?"
Victor’s smile didn’t waver.
"Then I’ll simply have to find out another way."
Liam’s magic stirred within him, responding to the unspoken challenge. The tension in the air was palpable.
Victor’s gaze flickered, as if noticing the shift.
"Relax. I’m not your enemy, Liam. Not yet, anyway. But I do suggest you be careful. The academy is full of people who would love to dig into your secrets."
Victor said, taking a step closer.
Liam didn’t respond. He simply stared, waiting.
Finally, Victor sighed.
"Alright, alright. I’ll drop the interrogation—for now."
He stepped back, the tension lessening slightly.
"But make no mistake. I’ll be keeping a very close eye on you, my dear student."
Victor added with a smirk.
Liam exhaled slowly. This wasn’t over. Not by a long shot.
"Good to know."
Liam muttered.
Victor chuckled.
"You may leave now."
Liam didn’t need to be told twice. He turned and walked out, only allowing himself to relax once he was far enough away from the training hall.
That man was dangerous.
Liam knew he had to be careful from now on.
______
Liam stepped into the dungeon, his boots barely making a sound against the worn stone floor. The moment he crossed the threshold, a strange sense of déjà vu washed over him.
He had seen this place before—he was sure of it.
But where? His mind scrambled through his memories, trying to piece together the connection, yet nothing solid came to him. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
Victor, who had been watching Liam closely, tilted his head with an amused expression.
"Does this place look familiar to you?" he asked, his voice smooth and laced with curiosity.
Liam didn’t answer. He was too busy scanning the cavernous walls, the eerie glow of the crystals embedded in the rocks, and the faint hum of magic in the air.
It all felt wrongly familiar—like a half-forgotten dream or a memory buried too deep to recall clearly.
Seeing that Liam wasn’t going to answer, Victor let out a sigh and rubbed the back of his neck.
"Well, I suppose that doesn’t matter for now. Let’s move on to the real reason we’re here—your practical training."
Liam’s gaze snapped to Victor.
"Training?"
Before he could ask what that entailed, Victor took a step back and cracked his knuckles. A slow grin spread across his face.
"Come on, let’s spar. Show me what you’ve got."
Liam narrowed his eyes.
"We’re fighting here? In an unstable dungeon?"
Victor chuckled.
"Oh, don’t worry. I made sure this place won’t collapse. At least, not unless you really mess up."
Liam had no time to argue before Victor lunged at him.
Their fight started slow—almost playful. Victor’s movements were fluid and precise, yet he held back, testing Liam rather than trying to overpower him.
Liam responded in kind, dodging and countering without fully committing to an attack.
It felt like a child’s game, each of them vying for the upper hand but neither using their full strength.
Liam felt his nerves ease slightly.
’This isn’t so bad.’
Despite his unease about Victor’s intentions, the fight itself was manageable.
The rhythm of battle was familiar, comforting even. His body moved on instinct, weaving through Victor’s attacks and striking when an opening presented itself.
Asger, who had been watching from the side, flicked his tail impatiently. "Careful, human. You’re getting too comfortable."
Liam barely registered the warning. His focus was locked on Victor, who was grinning like a cat toying with its prey.
"You’re holding back. Why?"
Victor commented, dodging another one of Liam’s strikes effortlessly.
Liam scoffed.
"Hold back? I don’t know what you are talking about. Can’t you see that I am doing my best here? And if anyone is holding back here, it is you!"
Victor smirked but didn’t deny it. "True. But I want to see what happens when you stop thinking and just let go."
Liam frowned. Something about the way Victor said that made his skin prickle with unease.
But before he could dwell on it—
