Last Wizard King's SSS-Level Magic system in Modern World-Chapter 164: Imp’s attack- Part 1
Chapter 164: 164: Imp’s attack- Part 1
The demon howled in annoyance, dodging some attacks but getting grazed by others. Its unnatural speed made it difficult to land a direct hit.
Shelly clicked her tongue in irritation.
"This one’s fast."
Bianca nodded, calculating their next move.
"Then we slow it down."
She channeled more energy into her hands and slammed them against the ground. Immediately, a binding spell activated, glowing chains of light shooting up from the pavement and wrapping around the demon’s legs.
The creature screeched as it struggled, but Shelly took the opportunity.
She raised her hands, gathering magic into a swirling sphere of freezing energy. Then, with a fierce expression, she hurled it straight at the demon’s chest.
The ice magic struck true.
The demon let out an ear-splitting shriek as the freezing energy spread across its body, locking its movements further.
Bianca wasn’t about to waste this chance.
She conjured a spear of light and hurled it straight into the demon’s heart.
For a moment, the creature’s eyes went wide. Then, in an instant, its body convulsed and shattered into dust, the dark energy dissipating into the night.
Silence fell over the alleyway.
Both Bianca and Shelly stood there for a moment, catching their breath.
Shelly was the first to speak.
"That was... effective."
Bianca dusted off her hands.
"We make a good team."
Shelly rolled her eyes.
"Don’t get used to it."
Bianca smirked.
"Wouldn’t dream of it."
Their temporary alliance had served its purpose, but they both knew this was just the beginning.
The demons weren’t just appearing at random.
Something bigger was coming.
"Oi, get out of the way or you will get hurt."
Bianca was quick to call out and she even reached out to grab Shelly’s arm. But Shelly stood frozen in fear and shock as she felt her magic leaving her.
The demonic energy around the area was rising a little too rapidly and it put the two humans at a disadvantage.
"Gwagrrr-"
It was impossible to be able to tell what that cry represented, but Bianca immediately noticed the imp running toward her and Shelly.
The imp did not seem to have much power. But what it lacked in power, it made up for in it’s instincts and they way it moved.
"Fuck! Will I even be able to hit this beast? Why did this have to be so difficult?"
The imp was fast—too fast. Every time Bianca sent a bolt of light magic toward it, the creature twisted its body at an impossible angle, dodging just in time.
It was a frustrating dance, one where the imp dictated the pace, and Bianca struggled to keep up.
Worse yet, it had its eyes locked on Shelly.
The moment Bianca saw the imp dart in Shelly’s direction, she lunged forward, summoning a barrier of light between them.
"Shelly! Move!"
But Shelly was still frozen, her face pale. The eerie sensation of her magic being drained had rattled her more than she wanted to admit.
It wasn’t until the imp was nearly upon her that her instincts finally kicked in.
Her eyes glowed with a sudden surge of magic. A gust of icy wind burst from her hands, encasing the imp’s feet in frost.
The little creature screeched in surprise as the ice quickly crawled up its legs, locking it in place.
Bianca took this opportunity to hurl another spear of light at the creature. It struck the imp’s shoulder, causing it to shriek in agony, but still, it refused to go down.
Instead, its tiny, clawed hands clawed at the ice, its breath coming in short gasps.
Then, something changed.
Its body began to glow, dark energy radiating outward in thick waves. The ice trapping its legs shattered as the imp’s form started to twist and expand.
Its tiny frame stretched taller, bones cracking as it transformed before their eyes.
Bianca’s stomach twisted.
"Oh, hell no..."
Shelly backed up, wide-eyed.
"That thing’s evolving? Are you serious?"
The imp’s face, once small and mischievous, was now elongated and more grotesque. Its sharp teeth grew longer, its once stubby limbs now lean and wiry.
But the most alarming change? The way its beady red eyes now held intelligence.
And then—it spoke.
"You... humans... so weak... yet so persistent."
Its voice was raspy, as if its throat wasn’t meant to form words.
"But no matter. I have evolved. And now... I will feast."
Bianca gritted her teeth, pushing down the flicker of fear that ran down her spine.
"Shelly, we can’t let it finish whatever transformation it’s going through. We need to strike—now."
Shelly nodded, but Bianca could tell she was still shaken.
This wasn’t just another mindless demon. This was something worse.
The imp moved first, vanishing in a blur. Bianca barely had time to react before she felt a sharp sting on her arm.
She turned to see a thin scratch running down her sleeve. It had cut her without her even seeing it move.
Shelly, too, gasped as she barely dodged an attack, rolling to the side just in time.
"Alright, enough of this!"
Bianca shouted. She turned to Shelly, her expression urgent.
"Listen, I can’t hit this thing alone. I need you."
Shelly, catching her breath, clenched her fists.
"Tch. Fine. What do you need?"
Bianca inhaled sharply.
"Your ice magic slows it down. My light magic purifies it. We hit it together, overwhelm it before it can adapt."
Shelly smirked.
"Overwhelm, huh? I like the sound of that."
The imp snarled, preparing to lunge again, but Bianca and Shelly moved first.
Shelly slammed her hands onto the ground, sending a shockwave of frost outward.
The air around them dropped sharply as ice spread across the pavement, turning the battlefield into a frozen wasteland.
The imp landed, but immediately lost its footing. It skidded across the ice, claws scrambling for balance.
Bianca didn’t waste the chance.
She extended both hands forward, summoning a massive sphere of golden light.
The energy crackled and hummed in her palms, growing larger with each passing second.
Shelly, seeing the attack forming, added her own power into it. Cold and heat swirled together in an unstable mixture, but Bianca held firm.
The imp finally found its footing and turned to face them, but it was too late.
