Legacy Of The Extra-Chapter 35: The First Ash(2)
Chapter 35 - The First Ash(2)
The air around the abandoned enclosure was cold, and the snowfall left everyone shivering. It was the same for Klaude and Rolf. But to add salt to the wound, Rudi—their Boss—told them to stand guard outside.
Klaude stood alongside Rolf, who was holding his spear laxly. His arms wrapped around his body, trying to ward off the cold biting at his skin. The leather armor and their current clothes were not enough for them to stay warm.
"Man, it's cold!" Rolf spat, his form trembling. "When do you think we are switching the posts?"
Klaude, whose hands rested on the hilt of his arming sword, replied, "A bit more, then we can go inside."
White smoke exhaled from both of their mouth, mixing with the cold air. This was the part of their daily lives now—pillaging unarmed villages, capturing the children and women, killing the men. Selling those unfortunate souls off to other people as slaves.
It was their livelihood.
"I just want to go inside and have my way with the women we captured recently," Rolf said, licking his lips. His eyes narrowed with a sadistic glint as if imagining the scenario.
"Me too," Klaude grinned. "The Elf we captured recently is a beauty, I can't wait to break her."
"Same here, but the boss will definitely have his way first," Rolf's voice dropped.
"Well, I can just fuck some other woman for today."
"But still, that elf is a beauty we don't get to see very often," Klaude added, his arms crossing over his chest. "God, I wish I could spread her legs and fuck her till she bleeds."
"Imagining the fear on her face turns me on even more."
"Haha, right?" Rolf chuckled, "She was being so prideful and all, not letting us touch her, but one fist to her gut and then she just fell, wailing and trembling on the floor."
"It would be so fun to break her, seeing her shatter—"
Before Rolf could finish his words, Klaude put his hand up towards him, telling him to stop talking.
"What?" Rolf asked, caught off guard by Klaude's sudden change.
"Shh, did you hear that?"
"Hear what?"
Before Klaude could answer Rolf's question, both of them heard a distant cry. Their visions swept across the whole area, between the ruins and the houses. Searching for the source. And then, a bit far away, a small yet fragile figure moved towards them.

"A child?" Klaude narrowed his eyes, trying to grasp the features of the figure that moved towards them.
Long black hair mixed with dirt—A small girl?. She wore a ragged red tunic stained with black patches. Her covered and frail hands reached to her eyes as if rubbing them. Her lips moved in a faint and distant cry.
"Hic... Hic... Mom..."
Rolf and Klaude both glanced at each other before Rolf stepped forward, holding his spear in one hand.
"What are you doing?" Klaude asked.
"What else?" Rolf smirked through the bandana, "I am going to claim the goods that came walking towards us."
Rolf moved towards the girl in the distance, leaving footsteps in the snow. Klaude kept watch from the distance. What Rolf said was not wrong; they could capture this small child and sell her off along with the others. And there is an unusual demand for children in the slave trade.
But something within Klaude said that the child was not ordinary. He gripped at the hilt of his arming sword.
'Something is off about that kid.'
He watched as Rolf planted his spear in the snow and crouched down, his entire body covering that of the kid. Klaude watched with intent, it felt off—too off for him. How did a kid survive such harsh conditions?
But before he could think further, Rolf started walking back towards him. The kid that there a short while ago disappeared—nowhere to be found. Klaude ran his vision towards the ruined structures to find any trace.
But there was none.
In that while, Rolf approached him. His spear was held firmly in his hands. His expression seemed off—his eyes were widened as if he saw something that he shouldn't have, and he was eerily quiet.
"Hey, Rolf?" Klaude called out to him, waving his hand in front of his face, but Rolf did not react. He stood still as if something sucked the light out of him.
"Hey man, don't scare me like tha—"
Spurt!
Pain shot through Klaude's body as something sharp penetrated his stomach. His vision swam as he looked below—A spear passed right through his abdomen. He followed the line to find Rolf holding it. His expression was the same as before.
Shock and Disbelief.
He removed his spear from Klaude's stomach. Then his expression changed, and his face became normal.
"What?" Rolf muttered, clutching his head. But that reaction soon turned into that of shock again.
As Rolf's eyes met Klaude's. His face turned deathly pale. "H-hey... Who did th—"
Sling!
Spurt!
But before Rolf could complete his confusion, A blade passed through his neck as crimson blood spurted out of his neck, pooling in the snow below and turning it red. Rolf's eyes whitened, and his pupils disappeared as the blade was pulled from his neck.
His body fell onto snow with a sickening thud. His face drained of colour—lifeless.
Klaude's knees gave out as he buckled, clutching his wound. Trying to deny his inevitable end.
His eyes followed the crimson streaked blade which was held by a figure covered in shadows. The only thing visible was the glow of his ember eyes among the darkness that surrounded him.
The figure slowly walked towards the trembling Klaude. His movements were controlled and efficient, and the air around him was that of death and suffocation.
The darkness around him shimmered, settling beneath his feet and revealing his sharp face. His face held an expression of complete indifference as if Klaude's life held no meaning for him.
He was only an ant meant to be crushed.
"Still alive, are we?" The young man spoke, his right hand reached for his left. Taking off a silver ring.
As soon as the ring left his finger. The man's light blue hair changed into a wheat blonde colour. His indifferent amber eyes shifted, turning into gleaming silver jewels. But the air of Death around him remained.
"Well, it should not be a problem to reveal features to you lot." The man smiled that ran a shiver down Klaude's spine. "Since you all are about to die anyway."
He sheathed his blade and walked past Klaude towards the entrance of the underground base. Leaving him to bleed to death in the cold exterior.
