Legendary Beast Master: Starting with Contracting SSS Rank Dragon-Chapter 54: Ranking Up
Chapter 54: Ranking Up
The Flame Elementals were on the weaker side of E-Ranks because they didn’t have a physical form. But that also meant their skills were very strong, and they also couldn’t be harmed by normal means.
Kael had considered that and ran a small experiment on the Flame Elementals, finding out their weakness—which was the metal bars hidden inside them.
They acted as their core, which held the flowing mass of fire around it. Once it was taken out, the Flame Elemental would collapse, giving him the Soul Power and also the metal bars as drop loot.
So, he was prepared to deal with the Flame Elementals if they came in huge numbers. Though, he was still nervous, as this could very well end up as his deathbed.
’Not the first time, heh.’
With precise movements of his claws, he cut open the wall, and at last, he clenched his fist tightly before delivering a terrifying blow that blasted the wall outwards.
Expecting such a reaction because of the Flame Elementals, Kael backed away while opening his mouth. In the next moment, a bulging river of fire poured out of the room into the corridor as the cracking noise of chains made his ears twitch in irritation.
Still, he opened his mouth wide and roared, as the whole fire river suddenly froze in the air and trembled, as if struggling to remain in existence.
Kael didn’t waste the opportunity and threw [Storm Pulse] amidst the convulsing river of fire, which provided an additional paralyzing effect.
He proceeded to plunge his bare hands into the river of fire and began searching for the metal bars. His face turned livid as he gritted his teeth, feeling the extreme heat melting away his skin.
Even his Draconic physique couldn’t handle such high temperatures, as he was at a very low rank. Still, that also gave him ridiculous regeneration abilities, which were healing his arm the moment it showed signs of being melted.
The pain was terrible, but it wasn’t like he hadn’t experienced pain before. Ignoring it, he began to take out more and more metal bars from the river of fire as it began to shrink in size.
It also showed signs of regaining control over its body, but Kael had already prepared measures for that as another roar reverberated in the corridor.
He smiled, as Kiona had done the task without him saying anything. She truly matched him in battles with a very good harmony.
Suppressing those thoughts, Kael sped up his process and took out the metal bars while trying to ignore the terrible pain that was making his whole arm numb.
The only relief to this whole situation was the massive amount of Soul Power being poured inside him. It seemed like his guess was right, as he was getting more Soul Power by killing those monsters he hadn’t killed too many times before.
The theory of saturation in the Labyrinth was true.
By the time he was finished with the last Elemental, Kael felt his soul brimming with energy and seeking to leave his body to reach somewhere else.
It was as if something was calling him.
He tried to resist the callings and instructed Kiona, who was still in her battle stance, to fight other enemies. "I have advanced to the next rank, so guard me for a while."
Kiona nodded, as she had already expected such an outcome when Kael told her about the Astral World. He had also entered it once previously too.
"I don’t know when I’ll wake up, so take my body to a room and you can take some rest," Kael said, feeling as if he was losing his connection with the body. "Of course, you can also call your brothers back if you want. We will fight the Boss after I wake up."
He only saw her catching his falling body before he lost consciousness. In the next moment, he woke up in the familiar bizarre surroundings of the Astral World.
The colorful world poured its information into him, but he wasn’t able to decipher it and realized that it had passed through him. It was a strange feeling he couldn’t quite understand.
’Old man, are you here?’ Kael asked through their internal connection, but received no response.
’Seems like he really slept.’ Kael thought and focused his attention on his situation. ’Unlike last time, I don’t need any help to sustain myself this time.’
Since he couldn’t understand the information provided by the Astral World, he asked his assistant, ’Can you decipher it?’
[It is similar to the information the individual Draven gave me. It’s in a different language that I’m still trying to understand. The only reason I understand some of it is because of him. Give me some time to understand this language fully so I can help you better.]
If even Alpha was having a hard time understanding the language, Kael was sure it would take him years or even decades, so he threw the matter out of importance for now.
[But I did realize something. The Astral World is abstract and no concepts work properly here. So, the information you receive could be of the future or past since even the time here is abstract.]
’Divinations...’
The word instantly popped up in his mind, as he finally understood how those people in churches did the divinations. Other factions also had their own Diviners.
’So, they all rely on the Astral World for this. Wait! If that’s the case, then the danger intuition I feel is because my Astral Projection interacts with some information of the future?’
[Possible.]
’Interesting,’ Kael thought and looked around, which was weird because whenever he tried to look in a certain direction, he would end up looking at something else. Worst of all, it wasn’t fixed so that he could get used to it.
’Aghh! Whatever, where is my mana pool?’
Since he was currently seeing the world through his Astral Projection, then it meant he should be able to see the mana attracted to him since he used the Astral Projection as a medium.
’Or Soul. Both are related anyways.’
Kael guessed that since everything was represented by these bizarre colours here, then the mana pool must also be represented by some colour. So, he began to look for a colour that was in the majority.
Though, that proved to be much harder than he had expected, as he couldn’t even look around properly. Though he wondered if it was something different that he simply couldn’t see. Who knew if the concept of sight was also twisted in this world?
Finally, his luck shone, and he managed to look down at his supposedly legs.
He felt a tremor in his mind as he ’looked’ at his legs and what was underneath them. It was something vast in deep silver colour that seemed to be a floor he was standing on.
However, how could there be a floor in this world? Then, it only meant that this vast silver floor was actually his mana pool. freeweɓnovel-cøm
"Haah..."
Just when he was about to look further, he heard a sigh filled with ancient aura, as if someone who had lived for thousands of years was trying to whisper something in his mind. It made his primal fear resurface.
